A: Sure it will fit. The top of the tripod and base of the ball head are both milled in the factory to be perfectly flat. They don't need to match perfectly. If they do, that is a plus for looks only. Tripods and heads use either 3/8 or 1/4 inch thread and adapters are very inexpensive.

A: The Sirui VHD-2004L 2 Series Aluminum Tripod with Leveling Head center column has 2 sections. The upper section is 24mm wide and the lower section is 28mm wide. The column is quite stable even when fully extended to 24". The tripod upper leg section is 31mm wide without the padding, and with the padding, it is 37mm wide.

[Ball Head] I think this item is discontinued but while available it gets my recommendation. It's very sturdy and the ball head base is super handy when paired with a pan/tilt base. 5

[Aluminum] Just what I was looking for - A very heavy, stable, sturdy, tall tripod at a reasonable price. The tripod legs can be angled a little for tight quarters or a lot for more stability, and lock in place. This 5.5 lb. mass of rigid metal definitely eliminates any camera shake. 5

[6.15 lb] I was looking for a solid tripod that would minimize vibrations and also provide a good height for alternative lighting uses. This tripod is heavy (5+ lbs.) but not in a way that would make it impossible to carry if you need a sturdy tripod. Operation is smooth and setup is easy. [Ball Head] This is a very sturdy tripod with easy to use legs and a smooth leveling head. It is heavy - def not for hiking. I use it for landscape photography when I'm shooting panoramas. The only criticism I have is that the bubble level is way too small. I would recommend this to anyone who shoots panoramas. 5

[4] I've always been a big fan of Sirui products. Own many K-30 and K-40 Ballheads as well. The VHD-2004L Leveling Head Tripod is well built, well thought out and stout. The leveling ballhead and (removable via one leg) monopod and its ability to inverse main column for macro work, makes this the Swiss Army knife of most tripods. The ability to support up to 30+ pounds it just the cherry on top! 5
