Synthesizer enthusiasts will be thrilled with this re-release of the Minimoog Model D from Moog, a reissue of the classic Minimoog Model D featuring the exact circuit boards that retain the same component placement and through-hole design of the original. The 3-oscillator synthesizer utilizes the classic Moog ladder filter with resonance to ensure that no changes were made to the sound engine. The instrument is housed in a locally sourced Appalachian-cherry hardwood enclosure with a hand-finished aluminum chassis.

A handful of features have been added, which do not affect the sound in any way. The additions include analog LFO and Filter Contour as modulation sources, a Fatar TP-9 keybed with velocity and aftertouch, CV outputs for Pitch, Aftertouch, Velocity, and Gate, an external Modulation CV input, MIDI In, Out, and Thru, and improved circuit-board connectors for touring reliability. Additionally, an overload modification has been added which automatically scales and feeds back the output of the Model D into the External Audio Input for instant overdrive.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this connect to a ballast required enlarger? The Opemus 5 to be exact?

A: The Gra-Lab timer can be used to time any item that has a standard house hold plug.

Q: 2. Do you have a foot switch for this unit?

A: Yes, works flawlessly. Essential for hands free dodging and burning.

Q: 3. Hi, This is about the Gralab 300 timer. the one I currently own looks exactly like the one pictured here. It has a volume/on/off control knob on the front. Yet 4 or 5 reviewers said there was no way to control buzzer volume or to turn this feature off. Which is it? Can the buzzer on this current model be set to off? Can the volume be controlled? Does it have the buzzer control knob as shown in the photos? Thanks.

A: We inspected a unit physically at the store and it is exactly as depicted online; there is a physical knob for buzzer volume on the face of the Gralab Model 300 darkroom timer.

Q: 4. Is this a stand-alone internet radio?

A: Yes, this supports wireless audio streaming via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Spotify Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, and Chromecast built-in.

Q: 5. will this work with a beseler 45xmxt/45s? Is it new?

A: The GraLab Model 451R Electronic Timer is compatible with the Beseler 45MXT Enlarger and most other enlargers that are 120v.

Q: 6. Are these used or refurbished? The price is significantly lower than the manufacturers own website pricing. The differences between the ED500 and the 500P are never made clear-just a filter? The 500P is also packed in a remailer carton? Used?

A: These are brand new. Retail pricing is subject to many factors. The most important is what the manufacturer lets us sell it for. The only difference between the ED500 and ED500P is the fan specification. The ED500 is single stage as against the ED500P which is listed as 70 CFM .The remailer carton can be used to send it to the manufacturer for service.

Q: 7. Does this generate any light? (I'd like to use it on sheet film.)

A: It does not. Other reviewers who said it generates hurricane-strength wind are correct. Hang on tight to your film. Ear protection's not a bad idea either. This is a serious little howler!

Q: 8. Does this have an alarm clock?

A: The Tivoli Model One Digital Generation 2 (Walnut & Gray), BH # TIM1D2WAL, features an alarm and sleep function.

Q: 9. Is the display dimmable? If so, is this automatic or can you control it? Can you turn off the display entirely?

A: The Tivoli Model One Digital Generation 2 (Black Ash & Black), B&H # TIM1D2BLK, features a "contrast" setting (which may be adjusted manually) that affects the apparent brightness/legibility of the display. It cannot be switched "off".

Q: 10. Is it safe to use it on a computer motherboard, fans, graphics card, etc?

A: Yes this can be used for computer components like motherboards, fans, & graphics cards.

[34 x 25.5 x 10"] This was my first synth ever. I purchased it because it had knob-per-function controls for the most important parameters. I'm happy to say that it's been a fantastic journey learning about synthesis, and doing it on the Moog Sub 25. It's straight and to the point without being overwhelming. The sounds are incredible from super fat bass lines to piercing leads. Use the duophonic feature to hold a drone note and solo with the second oscillator. It's just a beautiful machine. The design, the wooden end cheeks, the curves on the back panel. Again, it's just a beautiful machine. It will forever be compared to its bigger brother the 37. The big guy has the arpeggiator and step sequencer, expanded memory banks, aftertouch, and the extra octave. But it's also $700 more. If you want all the tone and can sacrifice a couple of bells and whistles, grab this sub 25 and get groovin.

[47.1 lb] I love this synthesizer! It is Moog's updated version of the Sub Phatty, which now has 2-note paraphony, making it even better. I also love its simplicity. It allows you to create custom sounds and save them as presets. The synth has 16 presets installed and lets you download many other presets through the included editor software.
If you're looking for a bare-bones synth that will allow you to learn the basics of subtractive synthesis and have that classic Moog sound, this is your lucky day. Get it! You won't regret it.

[34 x 25.5 x 10"] Worth it for the sawtooth shape oscillator knob on the left hand side by the modulation & pitchwheel alone...
Moog discontinued construction on this product. If you can get one, you should. Nice supplement to software-based and DAW midi keyboards. The sounds are way out there when you want unique transitions, very organized when you want to cut back to stable/smooth tones. Wow is this thing useful for compositions. Such range, at your fingertips, reliable as can be. Voyager is good but everyone has Voyager...
