[Bayonet] Each GFX user should have this one. It is far beyond the expectation with only $500.

[0.08 lb] For $999 this is a hard sell, but when bought as part of a kit or when discounted to $499 this becomes a lens every GFX owner should have.

The lens feels well made and is not too plasticky, although the missing aperture ring does make for an inconsistent control scheme when used in conjunction with other GF lenses.

The sharpness is not as biting as Fuji's primes, but it is sufficient to take advantage of the 100MP sensors.

This lens features good close focus ability, especially when compared to comparable GF lenses like the 45-100, allowing for a pleasant amount of bokeh in close subject photography, however there is a lot of spherical aberration at close focus distances, significantly reducing contrast unless stopped down.

The focal length range is useful, although I do wish it went a little wider.

It will be interesting to see if Fuji expands this variable aperture zoom range with a similarly small and affordable telephoto lens, perhaps a 70-140/4.5-6.3?

[0.08 lb] Ordered this on special order. There was no timeline when it would arrive. I have received two weeks later. This is an accessory that comes with the lens, it has protected the lens from rain and snow and dust for me but mine broke… And luckily BNH had one available.

[0.08 lb] Don't let the light feel and lack of an aperture ring deter you from considering this lens. It offers excellent image quality. It's a lot more than just a kit lens and offers a very good value if you buy it as a kit. Excellent lens for the money.

[0.08 lb] I use a larger format premium camera much for most of my work, but decided to invest in the Fuji GFX50r to have a camera that would be easier to carry when hiking. Had this lens been available, I would have bought it first (I purchased the 30mm f3.5). The 35-70 is the right focal length for most of my work. This lens is light and small - just what I wanted. Image quality is excellent. Reviewers have noted that wide open it is a bit soft in the corners. That is true, but in practice it is quite good. Stopped down one or two stops it offers excellent sharpness. I expected flare to be a problem, but so far, even when shooting into the sun, it has been fine. I'm impressed and pleased. The 35-70 won't replace the relatively light 30mm, which is just that much wider and sharper, especially wide open. But this new lens will live on the camera 75% of the time. It handles very well and is recommended.

[0.08 lb] I mean, it's a lens hood, from the manufacturer, so it should be perfect. And it is. Fits nice and snug. B&H was fast in packaging and shipping to me in Canada. I'll certainly use them again in the future.

[Bayonet] Getting a good lens for a reasonable price. A lot of photographers would be better off spending more money on workshops than prime lens. (just my opinion)

[Bayonet] This lens normally retails for $999.00 but there are regular promotions that cut this price in half. The lens is probably worth $999 and it's a smoking deal at $499.


It is reasonably well built and weather resistant. It is sharp enough to do justice to the 100mp camera. What makes this so worthwhile is its relatively compact size compared to other GF lenses that makes it a nice choice as a travel or walkaround lens.


The GF 35-70mm is not the best lens in the GF lineup, but it might be the lens you carry with you most.
