Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How wide is the Laptop compartment? I have heard it will take a 14inch laptop - depending on screen dimensions.

A: The laptop compartment in the MindShift Gear TrailScape 18L Backpack (Charcoal) is 8.9” W x 14.2” H x 1.2” D (22.7 x 36 x 3cm).

Q: 2. Does this pack come with a rain cover?

A: Yes. The Haukland x Evoc Photo Backpack (Black, 18L) comes with a rain cover.

Q: 3. Will a Canon 7D Mark II with a 100-400mm IS II USM attached fit in this bag?

A: Yes, as long as you are not, or do not plan to use a battery grip on the Canon 7D Mark II.

Q: 4. Is the waist belt removable or stowable?

A: The waist belt on the Backlight 18L cannot be removed, but it can be stowed by pulling the belt tabs back and clipping it to the lower front portion.

Q: 5. will this hold a Canon 5D MIII,Canon 24070 f/2.8, Canon 70-200 f/2.8, canon 85mm f/1.4 (all with hoods reversed) and canon 600 ex rt?

A: Yes

Q: 6. Is there a space for a hydration bladder like a Cabelbak or similar?

A: Not easily, you could put a bladder in the back of the bag but because it is meant for camera gear, you would have to take extra measures to ensure your bladder doesn't leak.

Q: 7. I'm 6'2 with a fairly long torso--would this fit me well or would I be better off with the 26L?

A: I'm 5'2 and I was looking at the 26L for more volume but it was too long for me, the 26L would fit you just fine.

Q: 8. Im wondering if this pack will fit a Canon 5D mkIII with battery grip and L bracket. It would be nice to be able to leave a 24-105 f4 or similar attached. Or if anyone recommends another Mindshift pack. Thanks so much.

A: I have the 5D MKIII with no battery grip and a Canon 1D MkIIN. I imagine that 1DMkIIN would be comparable to your 5DMKIII with grip in height. If you're not carrying a computer in the front, it will close, but it's a bit tight. The 1DMkIIN's hotshoe is over the zippered edge by about 2 inches, but will compress into the front storage area. I can configure the bag for the 5DMkIII with a Canon EF 70-200 f2.8L, hood attached with tripod braket with and inch or two to spare down the length or the 24-105 F4 with hood attached no problem (with room for a couple extra shorter lenses). It's a super comfortable bag, really well designed.

Q: 9. Anyone know if a Macbook Pro 15 would fit? I know it specs out a 13 ... but the measurements are close. I would really prefer this one over the larger size.

A: You have to be careful with the answers given, I bought the 26L size and yet I am being asked about the 18L. The 26L holds the 15 Macbook Pro nice and snugly, I cannot see the 18L being able to do the same. That being said, I am very happy with the 26L and found the size not overwhelming. Many are surprised it is a camera bag.

Q: 10. Will a Tamron 150-600mm G2 be able to fit in this bag

A: Yes.

[Zipper] I bought this pack to give me some extra room for my growing collection of photography equipment. I wanted something that would be lightweight without being bulky, and had a waist strap. Although I have not gone on a big trip with this pack yet, it seems really comfortable, and is very well constructed. There is plenty of room for my Nikon D7200, and all of the lenses and accessories that I have. My only "complaint" is that it does not come with the small Velcro straps to help secure gear in their compartments.

[Zipper] II like the off-set camera placement in the bag. It allows for 2 cameras without having to make the bag lengthy. Also, it has great attachment points, nice water bottle holders, and a good, non photo storage area.

[18 L] This is THE BACKPACK for a mirrorless set up! I have many bags/backpacks and this is hands down my favorite, I took it in a cruise to Alaska and two days in Vancouver Island and it held everything with ease. Pluse the color is gorgeous. I fit my 18-135, 100-600 and 16-70 lens with extra space for batteries, spare filters and chargers, sd cards etc… also was able to store my laptop (Mac book air) iPad, kindle, phone, wallet and passports and other travel stuff. I cannot recommend this bag enough. And the waist straps make wearing this bag super comfy!

[2.925 lb] Bag is high-quality and has spaces for 13 laptop and other spaces for stuff Id carry in a normal carry-on bag. Love the depth of the water bottle holders (one for each side). The bag fits well under the seat for airline travel. My only request would be adding a belt on the back for sitting atop luggage. I bought a TravelOn Bag Bungee (https://www.ebags.com/product/travelon/the-bag-bungee/126417?productid=1327614), which works beautifully.

[18 L] I wanted a versatile backpack that wasn't too big for my mirrorless camera. The information on the B&H site was very helpful in narrowing my search. The reviews and video really helped in the final selection. I'm happy with the backpack and how it works for me.

[Zipper] Excellent and highly functions backpack. Wished the waste-strap was removable. However, this is top-notch materials.

[18 L] This is an interesting pack. I purchased it to carry a 12L camera bag on a two week international trip. The 12L backpack fit in it very well and then I had two separate packs to choose from depending on that day's activities. It's light on the shoulders, has strong external anchor points for carabiners, and fits medium sized monopods and large water bottles in the exterior pockets. Also very cool that it rolls up to the size of a folded, rolled sweatshirt so it can be stuffed into a suitcase or tote bag.

Back home, I take it to the beach with towels and snacks or wear it into the city to visit the Space Needle. It's just so comfortable, flexible, and useful.

The only thing I wouldn't do is carry unprotected electronics or camera gear in it - it has no structure or padding - but that's not why I got it and I couldn't be happier for the price.

[18 L] Got this after trying a cheaper option from another vendor. This feels like it provides better protection for the gear when traveling, and the footprint/arrangement is much more practical. It may mean I have to travel with two backpacks on rare occasion, but this bag is big enough for my laptops as well, should I want to go with just a single. The only possible gripe would be the cost, but it is super premium, well made and if you want, it absolutely can be a daily driver type bag.

[18 L] I bought Nanum to wear during the upcoming ski season. On a whim I used it as my personal item on a flight for an overnight trip. I could not believe how much I was able to pack in and still remain a comfortable carry! I own a larger 20L Thule backpack that I was very happy with. The Nanum was smaller and lighter but still allowed for many items. The rigid back frame kept the bag off my back and allowed for air to circulate. The smaller top pocket had just enough spaces to organize smaller items but didn't waste space with mutiple, limited functionality pockets found on larger packs. A bonus was the removable waiststrap. Thanks Thule!

[18 L] The pack holds the right amount of gear for most adventures. I have a full size dslr with 24-120 lens, 18-35, 50, 70-300 lens with enough room for a Sony RX10 IV. By rearranging the compartments, I can carry an 200-500 lens, with a dslr body and lens. Easy to carry with the pack setup and surprisingly easy to access gear by rotating the pack to the front on the hip strap. Extremely well made and well thought out. Front storage is nice but could be a bit larger. Overall I would highly recommend this purchase if you are in the market for a mid sized pack. B&H is great to purchase from, very quick to ship.
