When direct monitoring is disabled you are hearing return of all signal from your software and latency will depend on the computer specs and settings. A: The Samson C01UCW is a mono microphone. A hollow sound can be caused by several factors. Condenser mics are very sensitive, and will be affected by room reflections and reverbaration. If you are using the mic in a large room with reflective walls it may cause this type of sound. Many times just by relocation the mic or even turning it slightly may improve your sound. A: I just plugged mine, didn't even bother to install the software, the mac pick it up right away, had to find it in garage band but it worked great
