Sporting a slimline form factor, the MediaStation can easily slip into your bag for convenient travel and for disc access no matter where you go. Connect the MediaStation to your PC via included USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 cable which also powers the unit. A LED power indicator notifies you of the status of the drive and if you need an optional external power cable for proper operation. The MediaStation can read and write multiple disc formats including CDs and DVDs with speeds up to 24x and 8x, respectively. You also get support for M-DISC formats for greater data protection from temperature and humidity. Additionally, CyberLink Power2Go for Windows is included, allowing you to easily create CD and DVD discs.

Q: 1. So what's the final verdict? Does this unit write Blu-rays to a mid 2012 MacBook Pro running El Capitan? I've already tried the LG BP 60NB10 that I bought on Amazon and was not successful with this. That model also would not play a homemade DVD.

A: Yes, the LG Slim Portable Blu-ray/DVD Writer BH #LGWP50NB40 can write Blu-ray discs on a Mac 2012 running el Capitan, however, they would only be Data blu-rays. If you want to make blu-ray discs to play on a blu-ray player, you would need additional software.

Q: 2. Is it region-free?

A: I don't know.

Q: 3. Will I be able to use this on a computer wit no CD DRIVE?

A: Yes, as long as it has a USB port you would be able to use this..

Q: 4. I bought this to use on my new Windows 10 computer. I was shocked to learn that Windows 10 Media Player does not support DVD nor BlueRay play back. I installed the CyberLink software that came with this drive expecting it to install DVD/BD player software but still no luck. Is this drive not compatible with Win10 or am I doing something wrong?

A: I have 1 Windows 10 desktop and 1 Windows 10 laptop and this LG Bluray Burner works well with both machines. Plug it in and it works. Windows 10 media player does not support Bluray, so it comes with Cyberlink Media Suite. Install the suite on both machines and voila... It plays Bluray or burns disc easily. No problem at all.

Q: 5. Will it work on a Mac?

A: No. Currently this is not compatible with Mac.

Q: 6. What is the maximum BD supported? B5, BD9 or BDXL?

A: BD5 and BD9 are older terms and technologies that haven't much lived on. [0.955 lb] The Transcend device was purchased to replace the drive in my Dell beastie that suddenly died. Thus far, it's works likes a charm and installation is as simple as plugging it into two USB ports. I'm very pleased with this device. 5

[Yes] I have the previous version of this product and it wasn't as good. This one is clearly better and I'm satisfied. Keep in mind that you'll need to use the included Cyberlink software (a bit complicated to download but free) to watch Blu-Ray discs with it. 5

[7.9 x 7.8 x 2"] I've purchased a few times in the past from B&H and always satisfied. The DVD drive was needed for a micro-tower that had no DVD. It worked perfectly the first time out of the box. Great price, good form factor, good value. 5
