This Avenger C1525 Adjustable Gaffer Grip Clamphas jaws that adjust from 0.98 to 2.55" to clamp onto pipe, furniture or overhead beams. The clamp features two 5/8" Baby studs to attach lights or other accessories.

A: The Matthews gaffer grip with 5/8" pins offer a tension control knob that allows the bite to be risen and lowered.

Q: 2. What is the recommended maximum weight this can hold?

A: That would depend on the structure of the ceiling grid. The actual metal grids can sustain 3-5 lbs before starting to give. if the Grid is not suspended properly then watch out. I have hung 4 light soft boxes, LED par cans and other small lighting fixtures from them.

Q: 3. Can you use this to hold a monopod in place in a tight area

A: Not that I can envision with my monopods. Yes, you could use the clamp to grip onto something but by itself the other side of the Avenger is only suitable for small diameter shafts like a gobo or a C-stand stud. The diameter of all my monopods are way too big to fit the knuckle-end of the Avenger D2

Q: 4. I made the mistake of purchasing a cheaper alternative and the grip head wiggles on the clamp. Is this an issue with these too?

A: When the grip head is tighten down on the Avenger D230 Super Clamp Grip Head (Black) it does not move. It is very well made.

Q: 5. What is the max weight this can support?

A: The Matthews gaffer grip with 5/8" pins has a payload support of 20lbs.

Q: 6. Does this item include wedges or do they need to be purchased separately?

A: No. wedges are sold separately.

Q: 7. What is the weight of this part

Q: 8. The stud protruding from the jaw is described as unremovable, but in the video I see what looks like a recessed Allen screw. Is it possible to loosen that screw and remove the stud? I want to put a shorter stud in that location with a 3/8" threaded end. Thanks.

A: The stud located towards the back of the clamp behind the tension knob is the only one that is removable.

Q: 9. Will this grip a 3/4 inch foam board?

A: Yes. The smallest diameter the jaws of the Kupo Large Gaffer Grip may accommodate is 1/4 inch. As such, it would be able to support a 3/4 inch foam board.

Q: 10. Can a lightweight (5.5 lb) camera attach to the Kupo Grip?

A: This item has no set load limits. You need to experiment with the angle and test for the required stability.

[Jaw] Swing Grip & Electric. Bought the Gaffer Grip having never used it before. It is a solid build, Avenger of course, and feels pretty hefty in your hand. This will grip anything. On your c-stand, on the ceiling, on the balcony in front of your subject. Its as versatile as a cartellini but with so many more configurations. However, the grip isn't as long lasting and walk-away-from as a cartellini. I've twice now clamped the Gaffer Grip onto a ledge to plant a 2k on, and in double checking the strength of the bite, discovered the rubber inside of the clamp wasn't holding as strong. 5

[Aluminum] This is a great step up from the old gators with the adjustable mouth that can widen up to grab a 4x4. I use this for holding bounce cards, reflectors & Inky's up to Tweenies without sweating the thought of them losing grip. That is one strong spring in there, so I hope your gaffer/grip has some paws on him/her... 5

[1.4 lb] Very well built. Adjustable jaw size. Very strong spring. You can put this on fences. tree limbs, backs of chairs. I do a lot of shooting on location so I don't go anywhere without it. 5

[Flat, Round] Great for Inkys & LED lights. The adjustable jaws are a nice upgrade from the old gator grips, able to grip a 2x4 ON ITS SIDE if need be. I'm getting a couple more soon. 5

[Jaw] Excellent quality product. Very heavy and sturdy for a great support of large of heavy equipment application. 2 things I was disappointed in. There is a hole in one end that I could have used if it had threads in it. The other is the second stud is permanently mounted so it cannot be removed and replaced with different stud mounts for different needs. 5

[Jaw] I'm still building my kit, so I ordered this to help with setting up my lighting and it is by far one of the best purchases I've ever made. The clamp is very solid and will hold onto anything. Probably going to end up buying a couple more. 5
