Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can all the 3 lenses in this set work with a pl to mft adapter on the lumix GH5? what aspect ratio w/open gate no crop u get?

A: The BLAZAR LENS Great Joy 85mm T2.9 1.8x Anamorphic Lens (PL + EF Mounts, Blue Flare) can be used with a PL to MFT mount. The only thing is they may require some level of shimming for perfect focus.

Q: 2. Is there a PL to RF adapter for this lens? Hoping to figure out a way to use it with a canon r5

A: Yes, you can use the DZOFilm Octopus Lens Adapter (PL to Canon RF), B&H # DZOADPLRBLK, to adapt the BLAZAR LENS Remus 45mm T2.0 1.5x Anamorphic Lens. https://bhpho.to/3l6e6xl

Q: 3. Does the focus ring have both meters and feet marks?

A: No, the BLAZAR LENS Great Joy 35mm T2.9 1.8x Anamorphic Lens (PL + EF Mount) does not have both meters and feet marking on the focus ring.

Q: 4. Would this work with a 50mm FF lens?

A: Yes, the BLAZAR LENS NERO 1.5x Anamorphic Adapter (Blue Flare) is compatible with the Canon FD 50mm f1.8.

Q: 5. The three lens bundle includes the hard case?

A: The BLAZAR LENS Great Joy 35, 50 & 85mm T2.9 1.8x Anamorphic 3-Lens Kit (PL + EF Mounts, Blue Flare) does not ship with the BLAZAR LENS 3-Lens Hard Case for 1.8x Anamorphic Lens. It will be an additional purchase. See the link below: https://bhpho.to/3ppKPWJ

Q: 6. Is it possible to rotate the alignment?

A: Since the BLAZAR LENS NERO 1.5x Anamorphic Adapter (Blue Flare) is mounted to the front filter of a compatible lens, the adapter can be rotated so that the alinement is skewed which ever way you would like, but the lens support only mounts to one fixed position on the adapter, making it work best when mounted in the orientation shown in the product pictures.

Q: 7. Can this lens be used with Speedboosters (EF to MFT .71)?

A: Using the BLAZAR LENS Great Joy 50mm T2.9 1.8x Anamorphic Lens (PL + EF-Mounts, Blue Flare) with the EF mount and speed booster is possible but performance is not guaranteed.

Q: 8. Would this fit on the Blackmagic 6k pro?

A: Yes, the BLAZAR LENS Remus 45mm T2.0 1.5x Anamorphic Lens (Canon EF, Blue Flare) is compatible with the Blackmagic design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro.

Q: 9. Assuming this is a blue flare. Will we see a neutral?

A: The manufacturer defines amber/blue as the color reproduction of the lens flare on this BLAZAR LENS NERO 1.5 Anamoprhic Adapter.

Q: 10. Can I use a PL to L converter without issues? I’m asking because I need an L mount one, but it’s on back order.

A: It would be recommended to go with the L mount version of the BLAZAR LENS Great Joy 35mm T2.9 1.8x Anamorphic Lens (PL + EF Mount) due to the protrusion of the rear of the PL version of this lens which may not be compatible with certain PL to L mount adapters on L mount cameras.

[82 mm] This lens gives the image quality I’ve been looking for in a package that has never been so easy to work with. The gears and focus thread allow me to pull focus while on gimbal and use light weight 77mm filters and diopters! I use this lens wide open all the time and love it! Give it a try!

[Metric] These lenses have a constant 1.5x squeeze factor, which gives consistent results across the entire focus range and makes for reliable de-squeezing in post. Other affordable Anamorphic lens brands do not have a constant squeeze factor. This lens is clean with minimal chromatic aberration only at the very lowest T-stop. It is incredibly lightweight which is useful in run and gun productions. I cant speak for the PL mount, as those may have a bit more heft to them. Flaring is very gentle on the silver version and slightly more aggressive on the blue and amber versions. You cant go wrong with this lens. See attached example.

[3.685 lb] Beautiful image - more than impressed with how things turned out. Shot a 15-minute film with just this lens.

[T2.9] First off. These have to be one of the best budget anamorphics you can get your hands on as of early 2024.

My only small grip is the inconsistent squeeze factor on the 50mm. If you know that it's easy to compensate in post but I would feel a little weary handing off footage from the 50mm lens.

As for the 35mm, I really love how large the FOV is. On the flip side you have to get a subject very close to really feel the anamorphic stuff but outside of that is a very useful focal length

As an owner op these are WELL worth your money

[T22] Blazar nailed this and no its not a perfect lens... but for under a grand ITS INSANE that a TINY and LIght-weight anamorphic getting you that old panavision c-d series aesthetic but you can actually own these. Are they 2x no obviously not - My Gemini is 30x18mm (rounded) and on 4 perf S35 ie larger S35 chips like my Red Gemini this Lens is a DREAM... Its definitely soft wide open as most vintage anamorphics are and has some CA and flaws but they are very organic... and although the squeeze isnt 2x the Bokeh are CLEARLY oval and the blue streaks (got the blue streak PL ) are great... I always think you need to see how SMALL they are to believe it I dont need a support on My Gemini or when using the FF on my Eos r5. I cant wait for rest have 100 and Hoping the 85 comes soon and then the 33mm FF But this one is a must if you can only buy one.

[Sony E] I am not really able to compare it to the others in the set yet… but it’s a safe bet this is the weakest of the 4 or 3if FF only. Partially just from to the focal length not conveying the look as strong as the wider lenses but also it really works best stopped down a tad…as it’s rather soft wide open. However I am def still very impressed by the overall quality and quality of these… they don’t feel cheap just small … shockingly small. The 100mm in PL is smaller than my RF 50mm f1.2! Impressed by this but it comes at the cost of some obvious chromatic aberrations… still for the money this is great and 1.5x may seem to enough squeeze the bokeh and flares look very anamorphic to my eyes shockingly so.
If you order just one maybe the 45mm 65mm or if your on smaller than 17mm high S35 sensors… get the 35mm . This lens great but don’t make it your only option.

[T2.9] Excellent value! Just make sure to buy a 82mm close-up vivitar lens set as well as it will make this lens a lot more useful and also mitigate some of its weaker points. Weight is great as well. Overall this is a very good mix of Anamorphic bliss for full frame sensors and image quality especially when you want flares a little more controlled. I'm using it with the Red V-Raptor VV.

[T22] Conversion with supplied EF mount was not too difficult. Fit is perfect. Love this affordable option for shooting anamorphic. Ordered the Laowa Venus 1.33x front anamorphic adapter to get a 2x squeeze out of it. Because of the availability delay on the adapter I can't report on the two together yet. But at a 1.5x squeeze I'm pretty impressed. Every review on youtube has been pretty spot on so no need to repeat it here.

[1x 1/4"-20] This lens looks great, has interesting flares and has character up the wazoo. I love the distortion of this lens. It may be my PL mount, but the lens is a bit too soft at the moment at distances past 10 meters, and I'll have it checked out soon at a rental house with focus charts. Besides that, so amazing!

[Sony E] I've already used this lens on three different projects and it is genuinely incredible how much character and filmic quality it adds to footage. I use this lens with the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k and the combination of size and focal length make it an ideal No. 1 lens for narrative and music video work. I can fly it on the DJI RS2 easily. I also have the Vazen 40mm, which is another incredible lens, but in terms of ease of use, the 28mm tops it - thanks mostly to its reduced size and increased depth of field. It makes it much more ideal for fast moving shots where it's important to still keep most of the frame in focus. The flares on this lens are absolutely gorgeous as well. The only minor gripe is that the aperture ring does feel like it moves a bit too easily. I haven't had any problems with it slipping so far, but that's the only thing I've really noticed. Otherwise, WOW!
