The black Series8 Cardioid Headset Microphone from Point Source Audio is designed for applications where more than one microphone is required, such as for live performances and recordings. The cardioid pattern of the microphone will pick up sound from one direction, so it can be focused on the sounds of the person wearing the microphone. The unit features a 4mm diameter microphone element that can be positioned at the corner of the mouth to maintain an unobtrusive appearance.

The microphone features a length-adjustable unbreakable boom that can bend up to 360° and includes flexible ear hooks for wearing the headset on the left or right ear. It offers optimal gain amplification before feedback and can handle sounds with a maximum SPL of 135 dB. The microphone can connect to a wide range of wireless microphone transmitters using its interchangeable X-Connector system. This particular unit comes with an interchangeable 3-pin mini connector for AKG and Audix transmitters. The microphone also comes with a foam windscreen, a body clip, and a storage box.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How tight an angle can the gooseneck hold. Many pics show about 45 degrees. Will it hold 90 degrees? 135?

A: You should be able to adjust the gooseneck to hold at any angle. The clutch assembly for the Audix MB5050 MicroBoom System 50" Gooseneck Condenser Microphone allows for total control over the angle, rotation and position of the carbon fiber rod.

Q: 2. What is the difference between this M1250B microphone and the M1255B microphone?

A: The Audix M1250B and M1255B are effectively the same however the M1255B is more sensitive for distant miking purposes, whereas the M1250B is intended for close mic positions.

Q: 3. As this mic had a battery powered power supply, can I use this with my Sony PCM D100 with a converter cable? If yes could you please recommend a cable please.

A: This mic requires connection to a device that supplies phantom power via XLR.

Q: 4. is this an output to thunderbolt 3 for mac?

A: Apollo Twin is compatible with all Apple Mac computers that have an available Thunderbolt, Thunderbolt 2, or Thunderbolt 3 port. For Mac computers that feature Thunderbolt 3 via USB-C, a Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt adapter is required.

Q: 5. What is TA4S?

A: I assume you meant TA4F-- this is the type of connector on this microphone. Pretty sure it is a Shure proprietary connector, so you would want a mic with this if you're connecting to a Shure wireless system. They are small, round, and have 4 pins. Sometimes they're used for specialty wired mics as well.

Q: 6. Does the Audix MB5050 have an off/on switch? The only way I have been able to make it a non open mic is to unplug at input.

A: There is currently no on/off switch available on the Microboom Rod.

Q: 7. How does this mic compare to the Shure SM58?

A: The audio specs for the frequency response range and sensitivity of f50S and SM58 are fairly close. Both mics can handle very loud sounds but the SM58 will retain more clarity at the very highest sound pressure levels. In terms of construction, both mics are made of metal and are very durable. Both mics include a pouch and mic clip. There is a difference in the length of the manufacturer's warranty. The f50S has a 3-year warranty and the SM58 has a 2-year warranty. The f50S has an on/off switch and there is a SM58S model (B&H # SHSM58S) that includes an on/off switch. There is also a difference in price between the Audix and Shure mics which may also be a consideration. Please feel free to contact us by phone or through live chat on the website if you have additional questions or if you would like further assistance.

Q: 8. What connection Jack does this mic use?

A: The AKG LC81 MD has a MicroDot connector. There are adapters available from AKG and other manufacturers to convert the MicroDot connector to a different type of connector and enable compatibility with a variety of wireless transmitters or to connect the mic to a standard XLR input. For example, the AKG MDA3 SEN2 MicroLite Microphone Adapter Connector for Sennheiser Bodypack Transmitter with 3.5mm Phone Jack (B&H # AKMDA3) or Deity Microphones DA35 Microdot to Locking 3.5mm Adapter - Black (B&H # DEDA35) will both convert the MicroDot connector to a 3.5mm TRS locking connector for use with Sennheiser transmitters. You can find the AKG MicroDot adapters listed on the item page for the mic -- click on the tab for "Accessories" above the product description, then click on the tab for "Adapters." You can also use the website search bar to find the adapters or contact us by phone or through live chat on the website if you would like further assistance.

Q: 9. What is the effective range for this microphone? I.e. on a stage 15 feet deep and 40 feet wide, how many of these would we need (sic how few could I get away with )?

A: Our stage is 28 feet deep by 40 feet wide. We use 3 floors mics.

Q: 10. What is the diameter of the microphone?

A: The diameter of the Audix ADX40's capsule is 0.47 inches.

[Plug-In Power] I have personally used the mic over the guitar amp and also to mic saxophones.

[1 to 10 V] A great mic at a great price. Audix's version of the SM57. Perfect for that warm, dynamic sound on all instruments. A must have for any recording engineer.

[Plug-In Power] The i5 is great on guitar cab and snare...The SM57 is warmer, but if you need a brighter tone... This is it!

[Black] A great multi-purpose dynamic mic, I use this small-sized, big-sounding tool for instruments and vocals alike. It obviously excels on the snare drum and on guitar cabinets, but I like the sound I get from it on various percussion, brass and lower-toned woodwind instruments. It doesn't have the shrill high-end crispness of a condenser, but you don't always need that. Overall, it sounds clean and strong, and adeptly resists feedback.

[1 to 10 V] If you are looking for a versatile mic for instruments, specially for use in live sound, this is a great product, excellent U.S quality construction and smoother sound than others with the same applications.
