Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will this fit a Minolta MC Rokkor X 50mm PG f/1.4 ?

A: Yes. The 55mm filter thread of the 50mm PG f1.4 will accommodate this hood.

Q: 2. Will this fit my 16-80 fujifilm XF lens?

A: This hood is only for the XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR.

Q: 3. Do these fit on the Fujinon MK-R Zooms?

A: The FUJIFILM Focus Lever for MKX18-55mm T2.9 and MKX50-135mm T2.9 Lenses are meant to be used specifically on the MKX18-55mm T2.9 and MKX50-135mm T2.9 Lenses.

Q: 4. Would this have a female thread to allow a lens support to be screwed in to the bottom of the lens? Or is this just a knob?

A: Yes, the FUJIFILM Rod Bracket for MKX18-55mm T2.9 Lens has a female and a male screw.

Q: 5. Will they come out with a EF lens ?

A: The great advantage of E mount is that it eliminates the need of making lenses that have to leave room in the optical path for a mirror. Thus the lenses are shorter, smaller in diameter and less costly to build. However, these same lenses, because they do not allow for that mirror distance from the sensor, cannot work on EF cameras. If you were to mount it, the lens would create its image on a plane in front of the sensor. In other words, the lens could not focus and your image is a big blur. So if Fujinon were to make a lens of this focal length for EF, it would be longer, wider and more expensive.

Q: 6. Does this support Fujinon FMM-6A - allow manual focus from the rear ?

A: No. it does not support any

Q: 7. I use a circular polarizer on my 16-55 quite a bit. Can I still spin the polarizer with the lens hood on?

A: Spinning a Circular Polarizer on a XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR with the FUJIFILM Lens Hood for XF 16-55mm f/2.8 R LM WR will be difficult.

Q: 8. Does it fit to Sony alpha 600 16 - 55 mm lens

A: The lens hood is a screw-on (55mm male threads). I use it on a Canon f1.2 Rangefinder lens (55mm female threads for filter attachment) adapted to a Sony Alpha7II camera

Q: 9. is it possible to convert these to MFT like you can with the E-mounts?

A: yes the mounts can be changed the MFT and the E-mounts can be swapped the fuji X-mount version can not because of the flange distance

Q: 10. will this lens hood fit on the kit lens (18-55)on xe-2?

A: I believe the 18-55 is a XF lens, so hood is exact fit for this lens.

[Bayonet] I've used this lens on a variety of shoots, and it's incredible. Very lightweight. Relatively low profile. Very smooth focusing with zero breathing. Some people have bashed it for being a T2.9. If there's a person in the world who can run-and-gun a doc shoot at T1.4 without a focus puller, AC, etc., then I want to meet that person post-haste and get some tips. For the rest of us mortals, T2.9 will do just fine. Especially if you're filming with an Fs5 or 7, which are already great in low light as it is. I always love the question in Q&A's, How did you make it so both people are in focus at the same time. Try stopping down to 4.5 or 5.6. That's where this lens gets awesomely sharp, and pulling focus is a total breeze as a one-man-band.

It's not for everyone. It's definitely a lower-contrast lens, a look that I happen to like, but looks different than Zeiss CP glass (or the 21-100 Zeiss zoom). The bokeh is beautiful on the MK. Even though having to change lenses (and buy the other) is a bit inconvenient, they're par focal, which makes things easier, and they're extremely light-weight, but seem to have good build quality. I rented, didn't purchase, so it's hard for me to comment on long-term durability. For what I do, higher-end documentary features and shorts, this lens is perfect.

[0.21 lb] I really believe this is a difficult lens to review.... Hits the price point where DSLR shooters are interested, but also experienced DoP's using Cabrio's and Large PL cinema zoom lenses are interested too. If you're use to SLR glass, this can introduce you to the convenience of a cinema built lens. A DoP would say this lens fall short of its higher end accessors.

Using lenses in both production realms, I found a great nitch for this lens. This lightweight Fuji works perfectly on my Movi Pro paired with an FS5 and F55 (with Duclos adaptor.) Extremely sharp glass. Would say my only complaint is that it does flare quite a bit. Have to control that.

Now with the native E-mount Sony Venice released, I'd love to see them release a full frame version of these lenses. Keeping them lightweight and cost effective would eat up that market space. Nice work Fuji.

[Bayonet] The MKX18-55mm T2.9 represents a convergence of build quality, optical performance and price that the independent film market has been largely missing... until now. For the price of a single cinema prime you can now score an excellent par-focal zoom. And finally, you can do so without making compromises in quality.
When used on a FujiFilm body the lens data is recorded, and lens parameters  are also presented on the cameras display. The MKX series of lenses are true professional level lenses. While the lenses are optically pure, the images they produce have magic to them and never feel sterile. These lenses have mojo... and that attribute makes them a pleasure to film with.

Prior to purchasing the MKX18-55, we did our homework. Looking at the other offerings from established manufacturers. After extensive research we found that only one lens offered the outstanding quality and optical excellence that we demanded... whilst having a size/weight and price that fit well with our projects. That lens was the MKX. We can highly recommend it.

We do plan to also add the 50-135mm T2.9. But we wanted time to get to know the 18-55 before adding the second lens.
