Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this filter fit the TAMRON 150-600 mm lense?

A: This filter will fit on any lens with a 95mm coarse filter thread. Please supply a link to your exact lens and we would be glad to confirm its compatibility (there are several models) or check the filter size specifications for your lens.

Q: 2. Does it have thread on the outer side to stack-mount say an ТВ filter on top of that UV?

A: Yes, this filter has front threads.

Q: 3. Is the glass element removable? Is it held in with glue, or a screw-type locking ring or c-clip?

A: No, the glass is not designed to be removed. It is enclosed by the specifically sized aluminum frame.

Q: 4. will this fit sigma 150-500 mm lens?

A: Yes, I have a Sigma 150-500mm F5-6.3 Lens. The Tiffen 86C mm Circular Polarizar Filter fits without any problem. From the picture included, my filter has a short round extension to use for rotating the filter. This can be unscrewed from the filter if it is an individuals preference. Hope this answers your question.

Q: 5. How thick is the glass of a Tiffen 82 mm polarizing filter?

A: No way to tell with out disassembling the unit. Generally filters can range between 4mm and 7mm. I estimate this glass to be approximately 4mm thick.

Q: 6. Will this fit a kit lens for a Canon 80D? It is a 18-135. The 67mm lines up, I just want to make sure the thread is correct.

A: This filter will fit any lens with a 67mm filter thread diameter. Please check the specifications of your lens, or look on your lens (usually near the end) for the filter thread diameter. It is usually marked with a # and a circle with a slash through it, the sign for diameter. The # is your thread diameter.

Q: 7. I am looking for filters for my sigma 30mm lens

A: The Sigma 30mm lens takes a 52mm filter, if you are looking for a polarizer, click on the link below to view your choices; https://bhpho.to/31vwmK7 Hoya and B+W are among the better brands.

Q: 8. Can I use both this filter and a hood?

A: Yep

Q: 9. i need to buy a 77mm uv filter for a Tokina 11-16mm pro dx-II lens can I use a regular 77mm uv filter or do I need to buy the wide angle thin one for the wide angle lens. I know there a big difference in the prices. which one do I need to buy?

A: One doesn't need UV protection for a digital sensor. A good clear filter works well. (Nikon, B&W, e.g.)

Q: 10. does this rotate independently of the lens?

A: I am not sure what you exactly mean... but I can tell you this. The filter screws on to the lens.

[Aluminum] I was looking for a filter that would bloom the highlights and practical light sources without decreasing the overall contrast of the image, and I think this was just the filter I wanted. Compared to Black Pro Mist and especially Cinebloom, the shadow levels and sharpness are maintained with this filter. The diffusion is just enough for me. To me, it seems it blooms the highlights and light sources just enough to look like my image was shot on film, but without being too dramatic or noticeable. I think if I were going for a more dreamy look, I'd go with a higher Glimmerglass strength or use something like Cinebloom.

[Glass] So I have used the GlimmerGlass series a lot as a large matte-box filter on the cinema cameras. But sometimes I go and shoot inserts on a lighter setup with my FX6 and a Zoom lens. For that purpose this filter is absolutely perfect. If the 1/2, 3/4 and 1/4 become available as 82mm filters I will purchase them.

[Aluminum] Lots of reviews suggest the 1/8 for a more 'filmic look but I found that I needed the 1/4 strength to get that effect.

Note that focal length and the quality of the light itself will impact the outcome.

A note regarding the GG1: This provides a very noticeable effect in most cases. Maybe a tad too much for everyday use.

Tiffen needs a magical filter that works on the jpeg but leaves the raw alone !

[0.1 lb] The Glimmerglass 1/2 is nice. The sharp edges are reduced but I still have detail. And being able to quickly pop off the filter for certain shots is awesome!

[Aluminum] Great diffusion filter that adds soft contrast to take off the digital edge while retaining sharpness. Would highly recommend over other diffusion filters.

[0.1 lb] Works well so far, and is less obscene than even 1/4 black pro mist can be. And price is fair. Now why do these filters cost 500% more in rectangular shape?

[Glass] Tiffen Filters are always the best when it comes to build quality, reliability and options they provide. I am super happy with my 2 Set of Glimmerglass!!:) They make the image naturally gloomy without washing out the entire scene.

Also B&H did a perfect job on shipping and customer contact! I live in Germany and my package arrived only 4 days after my order was placed. Thanks, you guts are the best!

[Aluminum] Any time I decide on diffusion filters, the biggest considerations for me are the strength of halation and the amount of contrast I'm looking for. I usually default to Hollywood Black Magic as my standard diffusion filter. When I want something stronger and a big more vintage feeling I'll reach for Black Pro Mist. When I want something much more subtle, I'll go for Glimmerglass because the halation is under much better control than the other two. I usually aim for a 1 strength when I want to see the effect. Even then, it doesn't feel too strong.
