Q: 1. How does this close if you have XLR cables attached to the Zoom? And if it does close how securely?

A: The sides of the PCH-6 can be opened for use - allowing access to the XLR/TRS inputs - and closed when not in use. Please see the fourth photo of B&H's listing for reference.

Q: 2. One of the uses I want is for across the table interviews, using only the mics provided. Using the MSH-6 module, can the bi-directional part of the mic work to adequately record both the subject and the interviewer with adequate quality and volume level? If not, would using one lapel mic on one channel work while using either of the provided mics as the other?

A: I can not speak for the lapel mic but the recorder meets my expectations when speaking across the table with someone. When a third person is involved in a recorded conversation, I do use some cardioid mics just due to the cross talk and feel it makes the recording a bit more crisp and clear.

Q: 3. Is there rear access to the battery compartment and the thread mount?

A: Yes, there's a flap underneath that you can fold back to use the thread mount and it also uncovers the built-in monitor speaker. However it's not able to pull back far enough to access the battery compartment. When I first got this case I felt that was really annoying, but it turned out to not be that big of a deal. Pulling the unit in and out of the bag is pretty quick and I've had plenty of time to change batteries between shots at location jobs where I use phantom power all day for external shotgun mics. Another option to bypass the need for accessing the battery compartment at all is to get a small external rechargeable power pack that can supply 5v of power to the H6 via the mini USB jack.

Q: 4. Hello,When I record with MSH-6, sometimes 'high pitch' sound comes out and that sound gets recorded as well. It happens randomly, am I using it right or is it a defect?

A: Make sure your gain is turned down a bit. It sounds like you may be getting feedback as well. Check that the volume on the built-in speaker is lowered as well during recording. Monitoring with headphones may eliminate the issue.

Q: 5. Would this also fit an H5? I see that there is an H5 case but it looks nearly identical, and I already have this and the portabrace case for H6 (I prefer the slimness of this case) so I’d love to use this one with a new H5, if I can

A: This case would not work well with the H5.

Q: 6. I never use any of the Mic Heads. Can the cover to this case fit down tight to the H6 without leaving a large airgap where the Mic Head would normally be?

A: The hood can be brought down lower onto the rest of the case, but it would block the top XLR inputs on the left and right of the Zoom H6.

A: This case does not have a means of affixing a strap; the intended mounting method is with the belt loop on the back of the case, the loop at the bottom of the case is intended as a key ring.
