Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would this bracket interfere with the articulating screen of the Canon R5?

A: No, the ProMediaGear Boomberang BBX2 does not interfere with the EOS R5's LCD screen; the arm is positioned in front and on the right of the camera's grip and shouldn't get in your way.

Q: 2. I use a Yongnuo Speedlite YN600EX-RT II with my Canon 5D Mark IV. What would people recommend for me to use to connect my flash to the camera using this bracket. I worry that something like the Vello TTL cable will raise up the flash too much and not fix the whole, "side shadow problem," which I assume this bracket is meant to solve to begin with. Thoughts? Thanks!

A: The TTL cable will not raise the flash that much. If you are worried about it being a little out of position because of the cable, or you want greater flexibility, The Yongnuo YN-E3-RT II Wireless Speedlite Transmitter for Canon linked here can be an option. https://bhpho.to/2QNUvJb. This will allow one to place the Flash in any position you want.

Q: 3. How is this different from version I that was discontinued?

A: The difference in design is the discontinued version only works with tall cameras like ones with a battery grip. The new version can work with a camera with or without a grip.

Q: 4. What hand do you hold the bracket with?

A: This bracket is made for use on the right side of the camera in front of the camera's grip where your right hand will go. It doesn't appear that you have to hold the bracket but you'd use your right hand to control the movements.

Q: 5. How long is the camera base?

A: The ProMediaGear Paparazzi Bracket uses their PBX3 Universal Bracket Plate which is 3.0" / 7.6 cm long. The included bracket piece which can mount on either side would add a bit of length to that.

Q: 6. Is a 1.5’ flash cord long enough for this or do I need something longer?

A: 1.5 feet should be fine!

Q: 7. Can this bracket be attached to a tripod or monopod?

A: Absolutely. The Bracket Plate on the Bottom (PBX3-BD) is Arca Type. 1.5 width. To attach to non-Arca Standard Heads there are 1/4-20 screw holes on the bottom to mount a plate.

Q: 8. Will my speedlight attach directly to this bracket? Or do I need another item?

A: I use a Yongnuo Speedlite YN600EX-RT II with my Canon 5D Mark IV. What would people recommend I use for a connection between my camera and the flash, with this bracket. I worry that something like the Vello TTL Flash Cord would raise the flash up too much and not really solve the whole, "side shadow in portraits" problem, which I assume this bracket is supposed to solve. Thoughts anyone? Thanks.

Q: 9. Will this work if you have a battery grip on the camera?

A: Yes, The BBX is Universal and will adjust to fit both standard DSLR's and Taller Bodies or Bodies with Grip. The only thing to be aware of is that when going into a vertical photo on taller cameras or cameras with grip the quick disconnect knob will be in the webbing of your thumb and first finger. This is only noticeable if you use the trigger button mounted on the battery or bottom side of taller bodied cameras. If you use a taller bodied camera or camera with grip all the time check out the ProMediaGear BBG. This design is specifically for those cameras and will not work with standard DSLR's. The disconnect feature is different on the BBG and won't interfere with any traditional shooting style.

Q: 10. What are the benefits of putting your flash next to the lens like this?

A: It allows for a very compact camera setup. It also handles better as the weight and center of gravity is lower than when the flash is high up on the camera.

[Black] Simple adapter with a 1/4-20 female threads on both ends that I use to mount a Go Pro camera onto a mic stand.

[Aluminum] Even though it was back ordered, B&H shipped it 7 days ahead of schedule. A perfectly designed and manufactured piece. The anti-rotation flats are critical for securing heavy loads and challenging jobs. Very lightweight and strong. The ability to mount an umbrella is a nice touch. Add the ProMediaGear BLS3 rosette to make it easier to balance the larger light modifiers you might use.

[Aluminum] I have been searching for months for the perfect adapter to mount on a monopod to hold a Profoto B2 head, and this does the job perfectly! Certainly, it is pricey for what it is, but it's comforting to have a solid adapter to latch the B2 onto.

[Black] It is a metal stick that makes my light go higher. Works well; accommodates a B2 with OCF beauty dish at 24mm on full frame without seeing the bottom of the modifier (with a little tweaking) and focal lengths longer than 24mm are all great. Really helpful for the the Boomerang if you have a B2!

[Aluminum] I purchased this in conjunction with a Promediagear L bracket for my D750. The quality of the product is top notch fits and works well with the L bracket. I installed the Spider mount pin and it works just as well as the original. This system provides for a lower profile attachment of the camera to my tripod and it also gives a place to attach my Peak Design dongle for the Slide Strap. I would highly recommend this product for this purpose.

[Black] I've been searching for an alternative to the spider holster clamp and RRS camera plate. I've finally found the solution. There are two attachment you can purchase to make this product a try-level use all in one product. First get the PROMEDIAGEAR PASL3 bracket plate adapter. That screws on to the side of the body plate and then you add screw the spider pro pin to it. Now you have a camera plate that is compatible with Arca swiss and RRS heads plus you can use it with your spider holster. Here's one more add on. The plate has a quick connect hole in the middle to attached the camera to a shoulder strap. I purchased the PROMEDIAGEAR SS2P1 plug connector for strap and modified my Blackrapid Sport strap by putting the SS2p1 connector on it. Now I have a three option quick setup for my camera. 1-arca swiss or RRS ballhead mount for my camera or 2-spider holster bracket for my spider holster plate or 3- quick connect for my shoulder strap. Love it!!

[Aluminum] I bought this for an elderly family friend who found her new Nikon Coolpix L320 was a bit difficult to handle due to the small size of the camera body and the even smaller controls. This handle attaches quickly and can be used in the up or down handle position. Having this handle attached provides a steady grip and has completely changed her experience with the camera. She loves it. This is a really nice camera accessory to have to help any seniors who might have difficulty holding and using the smaller sized cameras.
