Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-PRO UniFi Access Point. Aside from its form factor and its ability to be used outdoors, how is this different?

A: The UAP-AC-Pro has two Ethernet ports versus the one on the Mesh AP. Also: - 3 antennas vs 2 - 22 dBm vs 20 dBm transmit power - 1750 Mb/s Total (2.4 GHz: 450 Mb/s and 5 GHz: 1300 Mb/s) vs 1167 Mb/s Total (2.4 GHz: 300 Mb/s and 5 GHz: 867 Mb/s) throughput

Q: 2. How many feet will the wifi single go?

A: The range of an access point can depend on many factors, such as environment, obstructions, building layout, etc. As such it is not possible to make a definitive statement as to the range of an access point like the Ubiquiti Networks U6-Mesh-US in all situations.

A: Yes, you can attach a switch to the secondary port on the BH #UBUAPACMPRUS.

Q: 6. How do I secure the open port on the AP when mounted outside? I feel this is a way for someone to hard wire connect and access my network unauthorized.

A: You could use RJ45 locking plugs. If your worried about the physical access you might need to reconsider the AP location as it can simply be disconnected and a attacker could then have a direct wire in.

Q: 7. Is this device water resistant/proof? IP rating?

[WPA2, WPA3] I had an older model but the speed was constrained so I opted for this one. TP Link products are always easy to install so that was a breeze, the speed is great.

[17 to 22 dBm] I have over 150 of the 5.8GHz radios and they work but the noise is getting bad. Most of my links are less than a mile. I am slowly switching to the mmWave radios and wish that my whole network could be magically switched!

[17 to 22 dBm] This is my second one, extends the WIFI in our church building with no problems. Quick and easy setup. Very solid performance and range.

[17 to 22 dBm] Took out my wifi router, (don't use the service-supplied internal, didn't really need the extra router, and it was ancient-old) and replaced it with this. I'm using it @ home.

We just added 2 new units, equipped with WiFi 6e. Wow - you can't tell if it's plugged into the ethernet cable or WiFi. Once set up, it does a great job & is fully configurable (with the separate controller). MAC Filtering, latest security modes, all work well. Coverage (inside, 2nd floor, pointed down) gives huge full-house, plus full-yard coverage.

Pleased with the change.
