Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I apply this to paper and let it dry before exposing it? I want to create my own photo papers. Can I use this product?

A: Yes, you can apply the Rockland Liquid Light Photo Emulsion (8 oz, Expired 03/2024) to paper and let it dry before exposing. It is used to create your own photo papers. Here are the instructions: https://bhpho.to/3LglLsr

Q: 2. What is the ISO speed of this emulsion?

A: There is no exact ISO for any liquid emulsion (such as the Fomaspeed Liquid Emulsion 1 kg + Hardener 15 ml) because it can vary from application to application. Generally, the more layers that are applied, the more sensitive the emulsion will be. However, the more layers of emulsion is applied to the base, the longer it will have to be exposed to get the full range of tones. Two layers (horizontal and vertical application - most common application) should be around ISO 1-3. This is also dependent on what kind of surface the emulsion is coated on.

Q: 3. Can i clean film color negatives (35mm & 120) with this?

A: Yes, Pec-12 is very good to clean all film.

Q: 4. Is the Prestige Variable CB from Bergger compatible with Ilford multi-contrast filters?

A: Worked for me!

Q: 5. Would using this emulsion cleaner clean water spots?

A: This cleaner is not effective for water-based stains--you should rewash the negative and use a wetting agent like Photo-flo before drying them. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/28195-REG/Kodak_1464510_Photo_Flo_200_Solution.html

Q: 6. What kind of chemistry do i need to Enlarge with this Paper for an Art Show?

A: This paper can be developed with traditional black and white darkroom chemistry for black and white prints.

Q: 7. Can this also be used to clean lenses?

A: No, the Photographic Solutions PEC-12 Photographic Emulsion Cleaner is made to clean negatives and prints only. Instead, Photographic Solutions recommends using https://bhpho.to/3v4gTCj to clean lenses. A: Yes, you can use tRollei Black Magic High Contrast Liquid Photo Emulsion Kit under red safelight to develop prints.

Q: 9. What material should i be using wiping films with this?

A: The Photographic Solutions PEC-PAD Photo Wipes (4 x 4", 100-Pack), BH # PHPP44100 can work well in conjunction with the PEC-12 solution.

Q: 10. Can I reproduce Panchromatic Prints with this? or will it yield an Orthochromatic image?

[1.58 lb] These are super fun and bring a whole new look to cyanotypes. The only thing to keep in mind is the exposure time needs to be a bit longer than paper.

[1.58 lb] I first used this as a photogram project with middle schoolers. They loved it! Then I used it as a gift for one of my mentors. I printed digital negatives and exposed the for about 15minutes (time varies depending on negative) the results brought my mentor to tears. In the future I will be making these as gifts for my mom. What was nice about it being on cloth is that it opens the creative mind to many possibilities such as creating a quilt.

[300ml] The prints I made on the Cyanotype Cotton turned out so much better than any of the prints that I have tried on the Cyanotype paper. I love the blue and I now want to try some of the different colors.

[1.58 lb] I really like using alternative printing techniques, especially ones that don't require a darkroom. These squares are really easy to use and turn out pretty well. Getting the exposure time down is a little tricky and this might waste a couple squares. The colors are great and the final product is pretty unique and fun. I would definitely recommend trying them out!
