Q: 10. To mix D-76 you put all the contents of the package in 1 gallon of water to make the stock solution, correct? Then when it comes time to develop a roll of film, do you dilute the stock solution? Do you reuse this developer after you develop 1 roll of film or do you discard? Thank you!

A: Hi, Arlen:You can either dilute the stock dilution 1+1 with water or use it straight. My preference for roll film is to use it straight, although I know that some photographers use it diluted. I dilute this developer 1+1 when I develop 4x5 film.Remember that D-76 reduces the film speed by almost 1 stop. For instance, when I shoot Kodak T-max 400, I shoot at 320. For 35 mm film, my developer of choice is Kodak XTol because in my experience it doesnt reduce the speed film, so I can shoot at 400 ASA. These are my personal preferences, and they work for me. Other photographers may think otherwise. May you have any other questions, dont hesitate to ask.

[Liquid] One bath and no issues with temperature of time. It's a breeze and it produces great negs with moderate contrast.

[Film Developer] Some of my films are high in contrast and need some restraint. The most consistent developer for Eastman XX is D-96, and this brand is fine.

[Liquid] I originally bought this D-96 to process XX5222, but have sound that it works well for just about every film I have processed with it. I have had excellent results with Fomapan 200, developed for 7:30 at 68 F, and Svema Foto 100 as well. I intend to experiment with a few other films, time permitting.

I mixed a gallon of this on June 6, 2021, and as often happens, life got in the way and I forgot about it. On Feb 16, 2022, I tested it with a roll of Double x 5222 and it is still working very well, which is pretty amazing to me. I store my working solution in a brown Delta1 gallon jug away from light and at 65-70F.

[Film Developer] The only other b&w developer i've ever used was kodak d76, and this performs just as well, if not better, for only $7 a pack. Very contrasty and cinematic look that I LOVE.

[Liquid] I really can't say much here that most folks don't already know. I developed some Fomapan 100 in D-96 for 7:30 at 68 F and it came out nice. I didn't have any information so I guessed at the times. I guess that I got lucky. I was just experimenting out of boredom. I usually use this stuff for Double x 5222 and I like the results.
