The versatile AKG C214 Studio Bundle Kit | Professional Microphone Setis designed to record lead vocals, drums, acoustic instruments, and guitar amplifiers in the studio, on stage, or in broadcasting situations. Conceived as a cost-effective alternative to the renowned C414 microphone, this microphone uses the same 1" capsule but in a single-diaphragm, cardioid-only configuration. The transducer features technology that allows the membrane to vibrate freely, resulting in a wide frequency range and detailed transients, even at high sound-pressure levels.

With the additions of a switchable -20 dB pad and a 160 Hz low-cut filter, the C214 is well suited for close-miking applications as well as overhead placement. The C214 is a rugged microphone built to withstand the severities of professional studios or the road. The integrated capsule suspension helps reduce mechanical noise and resonance for a cleaner sound. The die-cast metal body with shock- and scratch-resistant finish features a double-mesh grille which protects the capsule and ensures efficient rejection of RF interference without affecting acoustics. The C214 comes with a metal carrying case, a foam windscreen, and a spider-type shockmount.

AKG's legendary C414 needs no introduction as it is a tool found in most recording studios and has been used on thousands of hit records. Plus, it has been on stage withartists of every musical genre and is also used by leading broadcast facilities the world over.

The C214 is designed as a cost-effective alternative to the high-end, industry-leading C414 family. This microphone uses the same 1" dual-capsule as the legendary C414 in a single-diaphragm, cardioid-only design, giving it performance close to that of the C414.

The C214 has AKG's legendary large-diaphragm sound and is capable of incredible 143 dB dynamic range for uncompressed, life-like transients while delivering low self-noise of 13 dBA. The C214's edge-terminated capsule delivers a highly detailed, up-front sound that brings out nuances of any voice or instrument.

Thanks to its switchable -20 dB attenuation pad and 160 Hz low-cut filter, the C214 can be used in sound fields as high as 156 dB SPL. So, it can be used on stage for close-up miking for even very loud applications like drum overheads, guitar amps, or high-output brass.

The C214 features an integrated capsule suspension that reduces mechanical noise and resonances for even greater sonic accuracy. The double mesh, all-metal grille protects the capsule and ensures high RF immunity without affecting acoustical performance.

The C214 has a roadworthy construction quality with a scratch-resistant finish, a dent-resistant metal grille, and a gold-plated XLR output.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How can customers make informed decisions when buying headphones from B&H ($500 or otherwise) when frequency response plots aren't provided, let alone +/- on the frequency specs?

A: These are the only hard specs provided by AKG. Frequency Bandwidth: 10 Hz to 39.8 kHzSensitivity: 105 dB/VMaximum Input Power: 200 mWImpedance: 62 ? Truly the best determining factor is an actual audition of the product. B&H offers a 30-day return policy if these headphones are not suitable for any reason at all. AKG does offer a thorough review: a href= http://bit.ly/1yR2NyS target= _blank http://bit.ly/1yR2NyS/a

Q: 2. Can the mic stand adapter (mount) be purchased separately? I have an older akg perception that I'm assuming is compatible.

A: We do not have the stand adapters seperatrely but we do have shock mounts that would fit. Both by AKG and third party: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/811165-REG/AKG_1040_Z_00020_SH_100_Shockmount.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1075694-REG/auray_shm_scm1_shock_mount_for_condenser.html

Q: 3. Do you sell replacement ear pads for these headphones?

A: Yes the headphones come with a pair of extra ear pads

Q: 4. is the neck mic good for Documentary (Interview) ?

A: The mic picks up very well for the person wearing it. A second mic would be needed for the interviewer.

Q: 5. Are these ( AKG K271 Mk2 ) made in Austria ( or China )?

A: Made in China.

Q: 6. What is the driver size for these headphones?

A: The AKG K240 feature 30mm drivers.

Q: 7. It comes with aluminum case?

A: yes

Q: 8. Is it good for musicians(keys)

A: I am a musician and home recording enthusiast. I had a pair of these headphones 20 years ago and I decided to buy them again. They are just really good, basic, headphones. Whether you play keys or other instruments should not be what makes you decide. Headphones should give an accurate, flat response for whatever music you listen to so you can make decisions about your tone. I really dont want to spend over $100 for headphones. I only use these at night (when its too quiet to listen to studio monitors or recording when you cant have the monitors bleed thru the track so these were really the choice that made the most sense for me.

Q: 9. How do I obtain a replacement Cable?

A: The replacement cable for the K182 headphones: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/413231-REG/AKG_6000_H_10080_EK300_Replacement_Headphone_Cable.html

Q: 10. where was this product made?

A: This product is made in CHINA.

[3.035 lb] I bought this as it was well recommended by a friend of mine that sings at a pro level. I run a youtube channel and do a lot of voice work for the videos. This mic was a monumental improvement over the mic I was using before. It captures a perfectly colored voice and requires no post editing. My only gripe is that it is so sensitive that I realized how noisy my home is to record. It actually picked up my cat and dog play fighting outside. Besides that, this mic is just awesome.

[Mono] If you need a sealed headphone that you can wear indefinitely, this is as good as it gets for the money. The headband, big earcups, and light weight make it easy to wear. The sound is clear and detailed but relaxed, so it's endlessly listenable.

One downside: the same sonic character that makes it so listenable also slightly saps the excitement. While you can get some of it back with some EQing, there are better options if a lively and/or hard-hitting sound is your main priority.

I listen to a lot of hard-hitting electronic music, so I often prefer my Audio Technica ATH-M50x for shorter listening sessions. But for just sitting somewhere indefinitely, listening to a wide variety of audio, the AKG K271 MkII is my pick hands-down.

[Cardioid] Awesome headphones...owned my pair since 2013 and they are still going...the coiled cable finally started fraying at the connection point a few weeks ago but it works...never had to switch cables til now...I think that speaks for itself. Ive travelled with headphones everywhere...abused them...and they just work. If they were lost/stolen/destroyed today id order another paid tomorrow.

Sound quality is subjective i suppose depending on your needs...I use them when video editing on the road, and monitoring audio on video shoots...I think they sound really good...better than the Sony 7506 that are a staple in my field. Isolation is really good too...Not the best ive experienced but close.

[Cardioid] I moved from USB to this mic and though I was really happy, this baby is a great step for that extra presence.

[Phantom Power] I bought the AKG C3000 primarily because I was looking for a decent condenser microphone, form a reputable manufacturer, within budget. I never expected a magnificent sound from this mic. But my expectations were surpassed considering the sound derived form the C3000. To begin with, this mic is solidly built in Vienna, Austria and looks elegant in black metallic finish. I use it with m101 preamp and the sound is clear and upfront. Given the price, it delivers a well defined sound. I am pleased!

[Side Address] I got the K271 MKII yesterday. The bass is better then I thought it would be. People are saying the 271 have no bass I think the bass is very good. The mids and highs are great

[Cardioid] What first drew me to these headphones is that they create a soundstage where you can recognize individual instruments in the mix as they are panned from left, center, right, and all points in between. Most headphones can't achieve this, but these babies do it easily. I use them for both work, as a sound recordist for motion pictures, and personal listening as well. I know what I'm recording when I wear these. I can't say the same for the typical Sony headphones.

[Mono] I was looking for affordable studio headphones to mix and master my own music tracks, basically guitars, bass and drums at night so my family wouldn't have to sleep in a tent ;-). As of today the sound quality is very good. The bass is not overwhelmed, mid and highs are very well balanced. If you are bass and highs lover they are not for you. They are not 100% studio monitors replacement but for occasionally work at night and tracking are perfect. I have to mention that my head is a size of melon so I'm always worry about the comfort. In this case is no issue.

[Mono] The C3000 is my main mic, I use it on acustic instruments as Classical, Acustic and Portuguese Guitar, and also on Vocals and as a room mic. It sounds closer to what you hear in the room then any other mic, with a smooth top end to help you to get warm vocals.
