The Hoya W10 filter is helpful when:

  • You are using tungsten-balanced film and want to capture natural colors during the daytime instead of the heavy blue cast the film will create.
  • You are shooting tungsten-balanced film indoors with 5500° Kelvin light sources like flashed or studio strobes.
  • W10 is not as strong as the W12, so it will produce a slightly warmer look when used with standard tungsten-balance film.

HOYA Multicoat (HMC) filters are recommended for enhancing the performance of today's multicoated lenses. These popular filters minimize reflection, reduce flare and ghosting, and result in over 97% average light transmission.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this fit my 24-70mm lens?

A: It should, since it's 82 mm.

Q: 2. Is this a thin filter? What is the thickness of it?

A: Although Hoya does not publish the thickness of the NXT Plus Circular Polarizer, it would not be the thinnest option from Hoya. You may want to look to the Hoya 72mm HD3 Circular Polarizer Filter, BH # HOCPHD372 which is less likely to cause vignetting on wide-angle lenses. https://bhpho.to/3LXhNmp

Q: 3. What is the difference between the NXT and the NXT PLUS filter?

A: The plus it multicoated to reduce ghosting and flares and it has top knurling to provide a more textured grip when mounting or removing it from a lens.

Q: 4. does this fit Olympus tough TG5 ?

A: Yes, it does. But you have to buy the Olympus CLA-T01 adaptor in order mount the filter. This is the same adaptor that is used to mount the Olympus wide-angle and telephoto extender lenses on the camera.

Q: 5. Will this filter Vignette image corners on a full frame camera with Canon EF 17-40 f4 L lens?I don't see the thickness in the specs, will 5mm work at 17mm? Thanks.

A: There is a possibility that this filter will vignette on the 17-40mmf/4 L lens. As an alternative, you may want to consider this item, B&H# HOCPSMC77, http://bhpho.to/1f9telF.

Q: 6. Is this made of alumn. or brass ???

A: The Hoya 72mm NXT Circular Polarizer Filter is manufactured from aluminum.

Q: 7. Is there a comparable filter to this for use with a Formatt Hitech 67mm Aluminum Holder?

A: No equivalent square filter for daylight . For astrophotography PureNight makes a square glass light pollution reduction filter.

Q: 8. May this 72mm filters fit on a 18-35mm Sigma lens ??

A: The Hoya 72mm NXT Plus Circular Polarizer Filter is not a thin filter so it might vignette a wide lens such as the Sigma 18-35mm. This Hoya HD3 is thin and would be a better option: https://bhpho.to/2pRzaOn

Q: 9. Does this filter come with a case?

A: The packaging for the filter is the case, as you can see in the 2nd photo in our images.

Q: 10. How is this filter different from the Hoya filter kit, which has three filters for $69? This filter alone costs more than that.

A: Thinner profile and most likely different optical glass technology. I am not certain about the glass. I have not used the filter kit.
