The Royer R-10 Hot Rod 25th Anniversary Limited-Edition Studio/Live Ribbon Microphone is designed to deliver smooth, full-range frequency reproduction and high SPL handling for musicians, recording engineers, and live sound mixers in home studios, recording facilities, and live stage applications. To celebrate this passive ribbon mic's 25th anniversary, this limited-edition version features a custom transformer that delivers an additional 5 dB of output gain over the standard version, providing a punchier feel with an increased low-midrange focus. Handbuilt in California, the mic features a high maximum SPL of 135 dB at 50 Hz and 160 dB at 1 kHz, and a wide, unhyped frequency response of 30 Hz to 15 kHz. The R-10 utilizes a standard XLR 3-pin output and does not require phantom power.

The microphone's figure-8 polar pattern allows pickup of sounds from the front and back of the mic, while maximizing sound rejection from both sides. This provides a directional focus in front of the microphone and allows room reflections behind the mic to be captured. The 2.5-micron aluminum ribbon element is protected from vibrations via an internal shockmount. A three-layer windscreen system tames plosives, strong bursts of air, and proximity-induced bass buildup. The wiring of the ribbon results in humbucking, which aids in preventing noise produced through electromagnetic interference. The R-10 includes a microphone holder, mic sock, and carrying case.

Q: 1. To use a DSLR, do you need the Celestron SLR adapter and a T-ring or something more?

A: The Sky-Watcher SkyMax 127 Virtuoso GTi Telescope cannot take the weight of a DSLR camera.

Q: 2. I am 5.2 High does this strap fit for me? Or is too long?

A: This is adjustable. I really would not worry that it will be too long.

Q: 3. is this compatible with Meeting Owl Pro?

A: The Owl Labs Lock Adapter for Meeting Owl 3 BH #OWLAMO3 is not compatible with the Meeting Owl Pro.

Q: 4. I just received my strap and want to attach it to my Canon 100-400 mm lens, not the 7D II body. Attaching to body puts too much torque on lens mount. Bit I need to attach to the tripod mount because the tapped hole in the lens is not 1/4-20. Are there adapters so that I don’t need to use the tripod mount?

A: The tap on the lens is a 1/4-20, you can in fact screw this into the bottom of the foot on the Canon 100-400mm lens. If you need to have the strap screwed into the foot and don't want to have to take it off every time you put it onto a tripod, you could use something along the lines of this, KIKLP450V2, where you would screw this plate onto the bottom of the collar on your 100-400, screw the Black Rapids plate into the 1/4-20 on the plate near the back which would leave the front of the plate open to be mounted on a tripod.

Q: 5. Would this fit a Samsung Galaxy S8+?

A: The Moondog Labs Smartphone Hood (XL) BH #MOSHXL is made for phones that are more than 6" in height.

Q: 6. Can this be used to clean sticky residue from tapes on the lavs?

A: The Goby Labs Sanitizer Spray for Microphones would not be recommended to remove adhesive residue from lavaliers or other audio cables, as it is designed primarily for sanitization. Products such as "Goo Gone", which are typically found in hardware stores, can serve the purpose of adhesive removal well.

Q: 7. Does it have 48v per output so 48v for 1 and 2

A: +48v phantom power per input.

Q: 8. I utilize Zoom Room Video Conferencing for my training sessions. Is the Owl compatible and will it project the trainees in the room to the Zoom system so the online trainees can see and better hear the in class participants?

A: Yes, this will work with Zoom just fine.

Q: 9. Does it work with iPads?

A: No, this is compatible with Windows and Mac OS only.

Q: 10. Can the scope fit on a tripod and what camera would be usable with the scope?

A: The Sky-Watcher SkyMax 127 Virtuoso GTi Telescope (25th Anniversary Edition), BH # SKS21225, is adaptable to standard photographic tripods. Use this adapter to attach a DSLR: Celestron SLR (35mm OR Digital) Camera Adapter (B&H # CETA1.250) The Canon EOS Rebel SL3 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black), B&H # CAEDRSL3BK, would work with the above tripod and adapter. https://bhpho.to/3YD73BW .

[Nickel] Seems to work quite well. Obvious use is for vocals. Not much more to say, other than that it looks nice too. The clip-on part is designed to fit on a fairly narrow mic stand pole, evidently. It doesn't quite work with my set up, but I managed to affix it to something.

[Figure-8] This is a great bundle. I already had cloudlifters and I was just going to buy the matched pair of Fat Heads until I saw this package. Everything arrived quickly and undamaged by delivery. The xlrs are good and the mic stand feels sturdy like it will last in a busy studio. The CL-2 provides plenty of gain for the Fat Heads. I've tested them through 3 different preamps and I've had no S/N issues.

[2.65 lb] I have used this mic for the first time for an on-location recording of a choir, band, and orchestra. I can verfy all the claims that Royer Labs make for this product. The sound is gorgeous - silky smooth and so accurate. The stereo image and location of individual instruments therein is absolutely uncanny! It is every bit as good as any recording I have ever heard from major studios. The crossed figure eight pickup pattern gives great ambience to the sound - you just have to hope your audience is quiet if you are recording a live performance (an acceptable tradeoff, I think). And, of course, being a ribbon microphone, you have to be sooo careful with it. It comes in a double case with a very well designed isolation mount included, a 25' 5 conductor cable, and a suitable 5 pin to two 3 pin XLR adaptor - all you need.

[Solid-State] I needed a ribbon mic in the home studio, mainly to record anything that's loud and needs a warm tone. Most ribbon mics seem really expensive, so I'm glad this one exists. Using this up close to a guitar amp sounds great. Combining this with a good dynamic (Shure SM57/Audix i5/Audio-Technica MB 2k) side by side up against a guitar amp sounds awesome!! I also tried to record a trombone with it, as I've heard ribbons are the best mic to use for that. This thing blew any dynamic mic out of the water for capturing brass sound. Thank you Nady and B&H!!

[Mono] The only way to filter, especially with ribbon mikes. There are others that work well enough, but they seem to block the sound a bit... coming out of them you won't feel a breeze, but the PS101 emits this gentle breeze which is just enough to convey the sound waves unimpeded.
Always use a pop filter of some kind, and the metal ones last and are washable, but this one is the best.

[2.65 lb] I used to use 15mm carbon fiber and aluminum rods. After you've tried steel or titanium rods, you'll never go back. They're more expensive and probably overkill for the majority of prosumer videographers with small mirrorless cameras, but if you're using a fully decked out Arri or RED cinema camera for film or TV projects, I recommend steel or titanium, and Tilta has a good track record with quality camera accessories.
