Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. If I have a MixPre 6 II attached to the UltraSynch-1, can the UltraSynch-1 act as a master and provide timecode to the new Atomos X Control accessory attached to the Ninja V+?

A: If you are using the Atomos UltraSync ONE RF Timecode Sync for AtomX Sync and Ninja V (B&H# ATOMSYON01US) to provide timecode to the Sound Devices MixPre-6 II 6-Channel / 8-Track Multitrack 32-Bit Field Recorder (B&H# SOMIXPRE6II) then you can then use another Atomos UltraSync ONE RF Timecode Sync for AtomX Sync and Ninja V as a master to record timecode to the Atomos Ninja V+ 5.2" 8K HDMI H.265 Raw Recording Monitor (B&H# ATNINJAVPQ) whether or not you are using the Atomos AtomX SYNC (B&H# ATOMXSYNC1). Regarding the idea of passing timecode through the AtomX Sync in the manner you mentioned, Atomos has not added that feature as you describe it as of this writing.

Q: 2. Is there a cable for RED Komodo timecode and genlock?

A: This cable from Atomos will provide timecode connection - https://bhpho.to/2IKoAFx

Q: 3. Can I use TASCAM X8 with ATOMOS UltraSync ONE and jump sync multiple cameras like Sony FX3?

A: The Tascam X8 (when used with the BT adapter) is compatible with the Atomos UltraSync Blue, which can then in turn be used with the Atomos UltraSync ONE.

Q: 4. I purchased the ultrasync one as well as the atomx sync for my ninja. But if I want a smaller rig without the ninja, I am wondering if it's possible to use a y-splitter cable to attach a small mic to my dslr and then plug the mic and the ultrasync into the dslr via the splitter cable and get timecode on one audio channel and external mic audio on the other channel?

A: A y-splitter wouldn't work as there would be no way to separate the signals.

Q: 5. Will this trigger recording on my Zoom F6?

A: The Atomos UltraSync ONE RF Timecode Sync for AtomX Sync and Ninja V does not have a trigger function, it simply generates and transmits time code.

Q: 6. Can I use just 1 of this on my main camera and just jump timecode on other cameras? will this work with Tascam X8 timecode?

A: Yes you can use the Atomos Ultrasync One with the Tascam X8 when using the Tascam AK-BT1 Bluetooth Adapter (BH #TAAKBT1) connected to the X8 recorder.

Q: 7. Can this be used to sync cameras to the PC clock?

A: No it can not. this is used for Timecode it is not the same format as time on a PC clock.

Q: 8. Will this work with the gh5 (not gh5s)

A: You can also adapt the TC output on the Ultrasync to stereo mini plug and stripe the Timecode as audio onto any camera that doesnt have a TC input. Your editing software must support TC on audio (for example Davinci Resolve does this)

Q: 9. A single Ultrasync comes with 2 bnc cables. The description for the bundle of 3 Ultrasyncs says it comes with 2 bnc cables. Shouldn't it come with 2 per unit or 6 in total?

A: Each unit in this bundle comes with 2 x Mini-DIN to BNC Cable equaling 6 in total.

Q: 10. How would one go about connecting this to the Sony FX3 for Genlock? This camera’s multiport supports timecode… just not sure if I can get Genlock from the UltraSync One into the FX3.

A: You would need to work with the Sony VMC-BNCM1 Timecode Adapter Cable, and a Atomos BNC timecode sync cable. Sony VMC-BNCM1 Timecode Adapter Cable BH #SOVMCBNCM1 Atomos DIN to BNC Timecode and Genlock Cable for UltraSync ONE (Blue) BH #ATOMXCAB01

Great piece of technology, very easy to use and pair with iPhone or iPad seamlessly can be connected with up to 6 items like iphones, zoom F3 or F6, accurate LTC via Bluetooth, can be paired as well with Ultrasync one that can synchronize a DSLR camera. Multicam and good audio together are so easy now

Davinci Resolve will natively sync time code recorded on an audio track with a couple of quick steps. First make sure the devices are set with one as master and the others as slaves. On the master set the frame rate to match your camera, this will automatically update the slaves to be on the same frame rate (if you don't match the frame rate the audio will be off a few frames when you sync). Plug a time code device into each device - cameras (through the audio jack if using an DSLR/Mirrorless camera), audio recorder (most audio recorders will accept the timecode from the ultrasync and save it to the audio recording as timecode - see instructions for your device). Dump all the files into the media page on Davinci Resolve. To update timecode on videos, select all of the video files and right click then choose update timecode from audio track. You will then see the Start TC and End TC get updated to the timecode from the audio track. To sync external audio select all the video and audio tracks and right click and select: auto sync audioBased on Timecode. This will automatically sync the audio to your video and replace the video audio track with the audio from your external recorder. If you used a splitter and recorded time code on one stereo track and scratch audio on the other then you can choose Based on Timecode and Append Tracks. Once set up correctly it works perfectly and a huge time saver.
A couple cons about the device is that it doesn't come with a LTC to 3.5mm cable, and the cables are very expensive. Also, there is not a good way to mount unless you buy the silicone case and the case is thick so it makes it difficult to press the buttons. Also, the menu system is very difficult to use, and nonintuitive so I have to carry around a hard copy print out for some functions.

It's the perfect length of cable for on camera stereo mic like the BP4029. Red is the Right channel. The right angle connectors work perfect for my setup. No complaints at all. Just exactly what I was looking for. Keeps my rig tidy!

Great little timecode box. The menu is easy to figure out and you can sync multiple units together in an instant. Highly recommend !

I did an 8 camera stream earlier this year and due to distances audio sync wasn't possible. I got the 3 kit of these and they connect wirelessly to my Ninja-V's, GoPro Hero 7's, Zoom F2's, wired connection to my Shogun's, FS7ii, and F8. They simplified my kit, would gladly buy again. Since purchasing I have used them on multiple Multicam streams as well as day to day with sync from mixers I work with.

2 issues I've had are when a sound mixer doesn't have a BNC output for TC, I just need to get the other cables, and when using the Blue to connect to the F2 takes a few takes to get connected, I wish I could get them to input the TC through the USB-C port.

I've been using a Ninja V as a timecode server to bridge my bluetooth-only Tascam with my other BNC timecode cameras. That worked fine, but I don't want the Ninja for every shoot. It's working as advertised and I can't complain... but I'm going to anyway:

I want an UltraSync Ultra or something. Something that's a combination of this and the UltraSync One. Something that can connect via cable, bluetooth or RF from the same box.

I'm a big fan of the simplicity, reliability, range, tiny size, and battery life of these units. My only complaint is that the connectors don't lock into place, so it takes relatively little pressure on the cable to pop it off accidentally. As long as you make sure to dress your cables safely so there's no danger of snagging them, the UltraSync works great.

I purchased this for the (ext)9pin input on the RED Komoto. Directly to a Tentacle. Worked perfectly.

Nothing like OEM cables to connect my gear. It is a perfect fit and the length is just right for my purposes!
