The Hoya W10 filter is helpful when:

  • You are using tungsten-balanced film and want to capture natural colors during the daytime instead of the heavy blue cast the film will create.
  • You are shooting tungsten-balanced film indoors with 5500° Kelvin light sources like flashed or studio strobes.
  • W10 is not as strong as the W12, so it will produce a slightly warmer look when used with standard tungsten-balance film.

HOYA Multicoat (HMC) filters are recommended for enhancing the performance of today's multicoated lenses. These popular filters minimize reflection, reduce flare and ghosting, and result in over 97% average light transmission.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this filter a Nikon product or generic? I am interested in the 52mm Clear NC Glass Filter by Nikon and the 58mm Clear NC Glass Filter by Nikon.Thamks,Rich

A: The filter on this link is an offer for a Nikon original filter, not a generic. Below is a link to the same filter in 58mm size for you to also regard:http://bhpho.to/1fSDZhd

Q: 2. How is this filter different than a UV filter?

A: UV filters will filter out UV light that exists outdoors but are not visible to the human eye (but that can end up affecting your images). This Nikon 77mm Clear filter is clear, meaning just a clear piece of glass to protect the lens.

Q: 3. Is there a comparable filter to this for use with a Formatt Hitech 67mm Aluminum Holder?

A: No equivalent square filter for daylight . For astrophotography PureNight makes a square glass light pollution reduction filter.

Q: 4. Will the lens hood still fit proper with the clear filter attached to the lens?

A: Yes, with the Nikon Neutral Clear Filter (72mm) attached to the lens, the lens hood will still fit properly.

Q: 5. I have the Puffer Plus, and wanted to know if I can use the same black bar to attach the Warming Shield to my hot shoe, does it fit over the Puffer, or does it come with it's on attachment bar?

A: Unless they have changed the design it is used with the existing holder. You simply slide the white one off and slide the yellow one on in it's place. Saves a lot of space...

Q: 6. I’ve read this is the USA version of the Hoya Starscape filter, is that true? Or is there a difference with the Starscape from this model?

A: YEs this is the USA version of the filter.

Q: 7. will this 82 mm filter fit the z 24-70 f/4.5 lens?

A: The 24-70mm 2.8 is 82mm and the 24-70mm f/4 is 72mm.

Q: 8. Will this fit the lens on the Nikon L35AF?

A: Absolutely.

Q: 9. I am looking for a protective filter for my Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8. Will this filter fit? If not, which should I get?

A: No, the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.8G Lens takes a 58mm size filter.

Q: 10. Will this 52mm Clear NC Glass Filter by Nikon work/fit on my AF-s NIKKOR 17-55mm f2.8? Also, will it work/fit on NIKKOR 70-200mm f2.8VRII? What clear filter would you recommend for each of this len?Thank you.

A: No, that will not fit those lenses. Both lenses use a 77mm filter size not 52.This would be my first recommendation.B+W 77mm XS-Pro Clear MRC-Nano 007 FilterB&H # BWCXSP77 Mfr # 66-1066111http://bhpho.to/1rDbpoMThen you have this one,Hoya 77mm HD2 Protector FilterB&H # HOPH277 Mfr # XHD2-77PROTEChttp://bhpho.to/1oc4kVM

[85B] Frosted-type center diffusion filters progressively obliterate the areas of your picture outward toward the edges, converting details to a vignetted, opaque white nothingness. Most over-all diffusion filters spread the highlights into the shadows, killing contrast in the process. This Duto filters concentric rings soften progressively, focusing attention on the central area, while leaving outer areas softened but still recognizable. I use it mostly for product and food shots when I want to subdue the surroundings while keeping the entire setup in play. I shoot individual portraits infrequently, but the Duto adds a nice touch on occasion. I have several diffusion filters, and each fills different needs when appropriate, but Hoyas Duto (center) and Cokins Diffusion Light (full-area) are my favorites.

[Glass] Hoya, the brand, is top rate for quality in my book (right up there with B&W), and this filter is nifty because the center area remains normally sharp, while the outer rings or areas go soft, though not abnormally so. Very pleasant results.

[52 mm] I bought this for studio portrait photography, especially women. It softens and diffuses the image nicely, but I can still sharpen details without any problems. Does the job nicely and makes my female clients happy.

[Aluminum] I tried to my filters from a shop and had to go back to the Internet to buy them. It is the easier than chasing all around the city only to find they have to order it off the net at an exorbitant price. And you have to go back to collect it. I was very pleased with the price it was well packaged and straight to my door. No problems! Thank you
