Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How long is it?

A: I believe is 21 3/4 . I use it for holding small lights or light shades when shooting macro photography in a studio.

Q: 2. Is the threaded connection on the bottom 5/8" ? I didn't see it listed on the product page.

A: the bottom of this boom arm is designed to fit into an existing mic stand, the 5/8" thread listed is at the top on the boom arm, to allow for industry standard a mic clip/holder for a microphone.

Q: 3. Will this work atop a Manfrotto 5001 stand with the 124 clamp?

A: The 5001B stand is way too small to securely support a boom arm, pivot clamp, and whatever you are going to put on the end of the arm. And the top section of tubing is too thin to accept the 124 pivot clamp.I would suggest you go with a stand like the 1052BAC or similar.

Q: 4. What are the dimensions of the wall mounting bracket?

A: The plate measures 9 7/8" X 3 9/16".

Q: 5. Can this be mounted 90 deg vertically to extend the height of a C-stand etc? If so, will it be stable at full extension?

A: It will be slightly off axis, but it can be used vertically. The stability will depend on the stand it is used on.

Q: 6. Is there a weight limit if using with fabric?

A: The support system is made to handle all types of backdrops regardless of the material. When installed properly, each roller has a maximum load capacity of 22lb.

Q: 7. Could I use this for a Aputure LS1S Light?

A: Yes this boom can work with lights such as the Aputure LS 1S.

Q: 8. What mounting hardware does this come with? I'm planning on mounting to a brick wall -- is the hardware sufficient?

A: The Manfrotto 098B Wall Mounting Boom Arm, Black - 47.2-82.6" (1.2-2.1m) BH #MA098B does not come with mounting hardware. You will need to get the right form of bolts or anchors depending on the wall you will mount it to.

Q: 9. Hey there! We wanted to install this on our ceiling, but I'm not sure how it mounts. Is there a hook system or some such thing?

A: The Neewer Roller Wall Mounting system is made for wall install only. For more support please contact our live chat team.

Q: 10. Can this be attached to a "K&M 260 Straight Microphone Stand (Black)"?

A: On the K&M 260 straight stand, removing the pole extension fromn the base would allow the boom to be inserted into the 260.

[5/8" Receiver] Long wall mounted boom arm, reduce the number of tripods you have standing on your studio floor. It is very long, suitable for large studios but not small ones.

[Aluminum] I am currently using the boom arm attached to an Autopole2 and it is rock solid. The build quality shows in the smooth adjustments and strong hold. I have no doubt I'll be picking up a couple more for the studio.

[5/8" Receiver] These Neewer Wall-Mounting Boom Arms have been extensively utilized in my studio/photography space. Easy to install and adjustable. Great for extending your lights or camera in different directions around your studio space and subject without the hassle of light stands that need to be lifted and moved constantly.

[Wall Mount Boom] This boom arm is great for a small studio. Keeps the stand off of the floor and out of the way, and allows me to position the light almost anywhere that I need it. I will probably be adding another one to the opposite wall.

[5/8" Receiver] I set up a portrait studio in my garage. As a retire Navy photographer, I'm use to working with limited spaces. I knew I couldn't use a boom on a light stand for my hair light because of my limited space. I did a search on B&H and came across the wall mount. It was cheaper than a boom and stand to mount my 9 pound light and softbox. I found the studs and mounted the boom to the wall in under 10 minutes I was up and running. I found it really easy to position the light with this arm. I will be purchasing an additional one for loop lighting positioning of my main light instead of a traditional light stand. I absolutely love this product.

[12.91 lb] This boom arm is solidly built and easy to use. It is a bit more limited than a boom stand, but you don't have to use so much floor space, and you don't need to deal with a heavy counterweight. This boom arm can be mounted on an Autopole using two super clamps, and that's how I initially used it. It was very nice, takes much less space than a boom stand, but I screwed it on a column to get more space (since I use it mostly as a hair light for portraits). It's ideal for small studio. If I were shooting tabletop products more often, I'd keep one on an Autopole. This would be very useful, since lighting system around the table can get cluttered very easily. However, adjusting height of this arm on Autopole can be a bit tricky, especially if your head is heavy. So, test the setup thoroughly before using it on a real job.

[Aluminum] We've mounted 2 arms in our 25' wide shooting area as primary BG light mounts. These arms allow a very wide adjustment range and are strong enough to easily hold a monobloc and medium soft box - perfect for high key. Clients have mentioned how they feel less closed in now that the c-stands are gone from the sides of the shooting area. Re-configuring from High-Key to std portrait, accent or even noir style lighting is very quick and easy. Swiveling and feathering the lights is also fairly easy to accomplish using a step stool. Be aware: The mounting plates are drilled for 2 optional widths of bolting to the wall, and neither one is suitable for a standard stud width - you'll have to angle the mount bolts slightly towards stud center to get a complete bite on all 4 bolts using the narrower set of holes. However, doing so makes for a rather rigid mount. If you can manage it, put 2 studs together and use the wide spacing pattern to mount.

[Wall Mount Boom] I saw a version of the Manfrotto wall mount arm, actually the Auto version with a spring loaded balancer, I did some research and found the 098B wall mount boom arm. This item was much cheaper, and had the features I needed up/down horizontal. the length of the boom is adjustable though theres a maximum weight limit on the end of the boom. I use an manfrotto autopole to support the boom arm though it's probably not recommended, but it gives more options to locate different light sources. I would use a pack/head light setup with umbrella. The profoto D1 I have seems to be a bit heavy at max. extension
