The Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod is a 3-section support that replaces the 055CXPRO3 tripod. It has a load capacity of 44 lb and extends from 3.5" to 67". Its carbon fiber legs are secured by the Quick Power Locks. These updated flip locks increase the tripod's rigidity by 50% compared to its predecessor.

A redesigned center column has a "one finger" operation, and includes an Easy Link 3/8"-16 attachment for attaching accessories such as an LED light or a reflector via a compatible arm. The center column can be positioned horizontally, allowing for low-angle and macro photography. The upper disc where a tripod head is mounted has been redesigned as well, and now has a bull's eye bubble level that rotates 360° so you can locate it where you can see it. This allows you to level your camera on both the horizontal and vertical planes.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How stable is it with a video fluid head when panned left/right. Some very light tripods have had a tendency to lift up on one of the legs as I panned with a dampened head?

A: Not the best choice but workable . The more resistance you dial into the fluid head the worse it gets. I've resorted to using my left hand to press down on the legs as I panned with my right. In this situation heavier is better. you could add weight to the legs. Three Matthews Boa bags, one on each leg, would improve the performance noticeably.

Q: 2. MT055CXPRO3 or MT055CXPRO4? Trying to decide between these two. Thank you!

A: Choosing the 3 you will have less legs to extend and collapse which can be annoying as it is. Also less legs allow for a more sturdy tripos as appears to the 4. Between the 2 there is not much difference in fully extended height and collapsible height. I would go for the 3. If anything I would be questioning th need for carbon fibre. If you need a real sturdy tripos go non carbon fibre, the more weight the better for longer exposures!

Q: 3. Hello I want to purchase Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod with MHXPRO-3W 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head Deluxe Kit by looking at the tripod pictures I found that the extender use is a Manfrotto 244 Variable Friction Magic Arm, can I have the infos on the piece requiered to atach the flash and model of the flash boncer (all the piece from the 244 to complete the flash kit including bouncer)? Thanks in advance...

A: Please email us at photo@a href= http://bhphoto.com target= _blank bhphoto.com/a for in-depth assistance with your inquiry.

Q: 4. What is the weight of this tripod combo vs. the aluminum version which is listed at 7.7 pounds? Thanks!

A: While not a big issue, the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod actually has a weight of 4.41 lbs. The Manfrotto MHXPRO-3W 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head is correctly 2.2 lbs. The kit has a combined weight of 6.61 lbs. The Manfrotto MT055XPRO3 Aluminum Tripod is 5.51 lbs, so the aluminum version with the MHXPRO-3W would be 7.71 lbs. The carbon fiber kit would be 1.1 lbs lighter than its aluminum version.

Q: 5. I need a good tutorial on how to tighten the legs. This is my second tripod where the legs become loose over time. Can someone direct me to a tutorial?

A: Although there isn't a tutorial on this topic, Manfrotto suggests that 3 turns on the screw that secures the leg locks with the provided tool would suffice.

Q: 6. Is the ball head removable? I'd like to get a different one

A: Yes, we suggest buying the tripod and pair it with a ball head of your choice. Manfrotto MT055CXPRO3 Carbon Fiber Tripod BH #MAMT055CXPRO • MFR #MT055CXPRO3 https://bhpho.to/3JKOPXS

Q: 7. Is this compatible with the Manfrotto 608 Nitrotech Fluid Video Head?

A: Yes, the Manfrotto MT055CXPRO 3 can work with the Manfrotto 608 Nitrotech Fluid Video Head.

Q: 8. I have a L bracket (Arca Swiss), will this fit the PL-200 or will I need a different L bracket?

A: This head is only compatible with Manfrotto type plates. You would have to get an Arca Swiss compatible ball head. You can click the link below to view; https://bhpho.to/2RLwy35

Q: 9. Can this tripod also be converted as a monopod?

A: Not really. With some effort, the middle post can be removed, but it really is not designed for it. Also, the center post is too short to be effectively used as a monopod, and there is no foot on it. The center post is designed to be used horizontally, and it works well for that.

Q: 10. Is the MHXPRO-BHQ2 magnesium ball head a good choice to go with either MT055CXPRO3 or MT055CXPRO4?

A: Yes, this would be a fine setup. Rated load capacities are 19.8 lbs (tripod) and 22 lbs (head). 3/8 stud mount is compatible.

[Carbon Fiber] This is a beast for its weight. I have used this tripod to photograph the comet, milkyway and landscapes. Even with a 15 lbs camera, lens and tracker in 10 mph winds this tool does great

[Flip Lock] I got this tripod a couple weeks ago and love it. So far, I have used it for macro and night photography. It's a great all around tripod. With the ball head it can rise above my head (I am 6 feet tall) and go down to a few inches off the ground. It feels sturdy at each height. The carbon fiber makes it quite sturdy and doesn't move much when you tap it. This is about the Same weight as my previous tripod, but with a lot more features.

[3/8"-16 Male] I have owned this unit for about 2 weeks now and I am very happy with it. The Tripod and head are solidly built. Even though the tripod is carbon, it is not what I would call light weight. When my camera with 50mm lens is attached, it he held still for long duration shots. I have used it for 6 minute exposures so far but have not tested in the wind. I am confident that it will be usable in at least mild wind as it does seem to lock the unit in place. The ball head is very smooth when panning or adjusting. It is also a solid part that you can tell is high quality. I am happy with the combined unit for my immediate needs.

[3/8"-16 Male] Excellent with heavy camera gear. The easiest tripod to use on location. Quick latches and lightweight.

[3] This is a fantastic tripod! I upgraded from the 190XPROB I bought from Manfrotto a number of years ago. It's a little bit heavier and bulkier (which I actually like) than the 190 series and it's everything I expected from Manfrotto: awesome build quality, legs fall out quickly, and is as stable as it gets. I wouldn't buy a tripod from any other company than Manfrotto. If you're debating on whether to go with the carbon fiber or not with the MT055 legs, I HIGHLY recommend you choose carbon fiber. If you're a landscape photographer, a long day in the field carrying a tripod anything heavier than this will get very exhausting.

[25 x 5.5 x 5.5"] I put off buying this tripod for a long time because of the cost, and now that I own it, I wish I would have bought it years ago. This is exactly what I've been needing to take my photography to the next level. I mostly shoot portraits with the lens wide open and this has helped me get tack sharp images every time. This replaced a cheap/lightweight tripod that couldn't handle my heavy lenses/camera without camera shake when shooting landscape, but this tripod has allowed me to nail every shot every time.

[25 x 5.5 x 5.5"] If you are reading this, you are probably already familiar with Manfrotto quality. The MT055CXPRO3 tripod legs are amazing. So versatile and they are rather light in weight too, even with the Mandrotto 054 ball head I purchased with this. My only suggestion for Manfrotto is to start including a bag for their tripods. When you spend top dollar for a tripod, you certainly want to protect your investment.

[Yes] Don't waste your money on the aluminum one as the carbon fiber is the way to go! Easy to adjust all components - I have nothing negative to say about it! I think most professionals would agree! Most people buy for camera use - I bought it for professional shooting matches

[25 x 5.5 x 5.5"] I have a long zoom lens that I bought for my Pentax camera. The combined weight was to much for my Slik U212 that I have loved and used for years. So this combined with the Monfrotto 3 axis head was a perfect replacement. It is rock solid stead, has many features for a variety of uses, is easy to use. It is a little heavier than My U 212 so that is something to get use to. I do a wide array of photography so the ability to get as low as 3 inches is a plus, the centerpost being able to go at 90 degrees is very useful. The 19 pound weight limit should mean this is the last tripod I should need. I prefer a 3 axis head over a ball. That is my personal preference as I like to move each axis and lock it up one at a time. For that like ball heads this tripod will be just a useful also. In all not cheap but a long term investment that will last over the many cameras a person will use.

[5 lb] Used mostly for studio photography, but will also see some location work. It's light and extremely rigid - no wiggles or slack anywhere. When you pick it up to move it the legs stay put and don't flop around. It does what its supposed to do. The 3 piece legs are not as compact as the 4 piece, but that only matters if you will be packing it up often for travel which I don't do. It may also add to the rigidity and is a little easier to set up and take down.
