[0.28 lb] I tried going a cheaper route but ran into clearance issue with the front of aftermarket handles interfering with the RED DIGITAL CINEMA DSMC3 RED Touch 7.0 display. This handle feel great, fits clean & perfectly, and does not protrude far past the upright support (so no physical interface with display mount assembly). Also, while not obvious from the photos, the record button works even with touch display through two small contact surfaces not obvious from looking at photos.

[7 x 4.6 x 1"] At 7 bills, I don't want to like this thing at all. Not at all.


If you don't know what 7 bills means, ask a friend that looks like me. Wait, don't do that. Just google it. Don't do that. I googled it and got nothing.


Anyway, it is WAY too expensive.


But it is so well built and so comfortable, and functional, and sexy. I hate to say it, but good job RED.

[7 x 4.6 x 1"] Amazing piece of gear. Definitely a learning curve, but the videos online help you out. WARNING! If you have a Canon 80D, you have to upgrade the firmware and buy a connecting cable to get certain functions to work. After that - smooth sailing. Be ready to work out your biceps too.

[Black] Love my DJI Ronin-S. The essentials kit is a must for shooting professional level video. Our agency has used this rig to shoot commercials for major brands with ease. Setting your rig up can be confusing (YouTube is your friend). There's about 1,000 videos showing how to balance your rig. Definitely keep browsing these videos until you find the right one for you (they all balance their camera's a little differently).

[7 x 4.6 x 1"] Massive upgrade to the Outrigger Handle. The Outrigger has its use cases, but it's impractical because you can't quickly break it down for gimbal use, had very minimal mounting points, and was not modular in design whatsoever. The Compact Top Handle solves all of this and to be honest, I much prefer a multi-purpose top handle over anything. This thing is rock solid and practical.

[Black] I bought this to be able to power my Canon 5D Mark III from the Ronin-S 12v 2a out port, to get a longer shoot time with the camera. It connects to a dummy battery or anything compatible with a female 5.5/2.5 barrel connector. The one I found is the Tether Tools Relay Camera Coupler for Canon Cameras with LP-E6 Battery. I already used it on a 2-hour shoot and the battery on the Ronin-S only used about a quarter of the power. It was a pretty active shoot with on and off recording throughout the shoot. I also did a test of the camera recording for about 2 hours total while moving the gimbal (as much as I could while still trying to get work done) and it still had 1 full bar and one bar started blinking. So, I would be pretty confident doing at least a 3-4 hour shoot or more with this setup on a single charge depending on how much time the camera is actually recording. I'm not sure I would last much longer than 4 hours of shooting with a gimbal anyway. I'll try to update the post once it gets put through a longer test. This was definitely a great addition to the incredible DJI Ronin-S.

[Black] I have no experience with gimbals and was a little concerned about purchasing the Ronin-S as my first, especially since I have an older camera (Canon EOS 70D). But the gimbal was very easy to figure out and the instructional videos were very helpful for more advanced features. Even as a complete amateur to film, I can’t go without this gimbal.
