Trickled down from NAD’s Masters Series, the C 399’s HybridDigital nCore amplifier is highly efficient and remarkably powerful. It can deliver 180 watts per channel of continuous power, and 250 watts per channel of instantaneous power, allowing the C 399 to reproduce musical transients effortlessly. The HybridDigital nCore design is renowned for its wide bandwidth, flat frequency response, clean clipping behavior with instant recovery, high-current capability, and stability into demanding low-impedance speaker loads. Noise and distortion are vanishingly low under all operating conditions. The minute levels of harmonic distortion are dominated by sonically benign second and third harmonics. These refinements enable the C 399 to produce neutral, distortion-free sound even at very high listening levels, with thrilling dynamics, exquisite detail, and superb portrayal of space.

Also trickled down from the Masters Series is the ESS Sabre 9028 high-resolution DAC, a design noted for its wide dynamic range, ultralow noise and distortion, and near-zero levels of clock jitter. MDC2 is the second generation of NAD Electronics’ innovative Modular Design Construction futureproofing technology. Introduced in 2006, MDC lets owners of NAD components add exciting new capabilities such as Dolby Atmos immersive audio, 4K video switching, and BluOS multiroom music streaming. Debuting on the NAD C 399, MDC2 features an all-new architecture that allows signals to be passed back and forth between the module and host component. This opens a far wider range of upgrade options for the C 399, and future MDC2-enabled components.

Included with this model is the optional MDC2 BluOS-D module, which lets listeners play music from their favourite streaming services through the C 399. MDC2 BluOS-D is equipped with Wi-Fi and Ethernet and uses the acclaimed BluOS Controller app for Android, iOS, macOS, and Windows. Like all BluOS-enabled products, the MDC2 BluOS-D has integrated support for dozens of streaming services and supports Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, and Tidal Connect. Two-way communications also enable theMDC2 BluOS-D to stream music from sources connected to the C 399 to BluOS-enabled components in other rooms. BluOS supports music streaming to up to 63 zones.

The MDC2 BluOS-D comes with Dirac Live Limited Bandwidth (20 Hz to 500 Hz) installed with the option for advanced users to upgrade to the Dirac Live Full Frequency version. Dirac Live function lets you measure your room’s acoustics using a supplied microphone and intuitive app, and then upload correction curves to the MDC2 BluOS-D. By compensating for acoustic anomalies in your listening environment, Dirac Live dramatically improves bass clarity, imaging, and timbral accuracy. A: Yes, the Sirui TY-70 plate can fit the DAC-38.

Q: 4. Is the 1/8" / 3.5 mm TRS Unbalanced Line Output a PreAmp? If a powered speaker is connected to the line out, does it automatically mute when you plugin a headphone?

A: The FiiO K3 V2 Desktop DAC and Headphone Amplifier (Black), B&H # FIK3V2, unbalanced TRS output uses the Texas Instruments OPA1612 which is an op-amp. Connecting powered speakers to the line output does not automatically mute when a headphone is plugged in but in the user guide they recommend disconnecting headphones when the line out is being used.

A: Unfortunately no. You would only be able to output one at a time with Datavideo DAC-45 4K.

Q: 7. Will KORG DS-DAC-100m Mobile 1Bit USB-DAC work effectively with zoom?

A: Yes, but there are a few steps you will need to go through first since the Korg DS-DAC-100m is for converting recorded WAV and MP3 audio files to DSD. The combined audio and video from a Zoom meeting is saved as MP4 format and the audio only is saved as M4A format. You would need to convert the Zoom files from M4A to either MP3 or WAV first and then you will be able to use the DS-DAC-100m to convert the recorded audio files to DSD.

A: The Desmond DAC-100B 100mm Skeleton Clamp with Removable Level has a 3/8"-16 female socket and includes a 1/4"-20 reducing bushing adapter. So it will fit on any tripod screw.

[2.2] I use my NAD C-700 to stream music both from Tidal Plus and Spotify, thru iPhone and iMac. Also with a Teac turntable. I like the robustness of the equipment and the high quality sound. The only thing I wish to be improved is a blinking light in the back. 5

[aptX, aptX HD] I purchased this amp to replace an aging NAD 7140. I have always been happy with NAD, so sticking with the brand, I chose the 7140 over the more powerful 399 for the simple reason of having a Speaker A & B option. I've already run the amp thru the paces with CD's, Phono, and mostly the Bluetooth and BluOS streaming uses. Was very easy to set-up....... don't over think it, just follow the simple directions, and your BluOS App on your phone is a joy to use. I gave the amp a 5 star rating only because i cant do a 4.9. The one peculiar quirk is the volume knob and corresponding light meter. The light meter peaks out by the time you get to half volume.......... so when switching to a different music source, a volume check is not just a simple visual to make sure you are not turned up to high. BUT....... the BluOS app on your phone has a pretty accurate volume bar to let you know where you are in the functional range of the amp. It's really just a small oddity........ other than that, I LOVE every aspect of this amp...... the power is more than sufficient to drive my Infinity CS-3007 speaker. Clear and crisp. Front panel controls are simple to use! HIGHLY recommend this amp! 5

[2.2] I have very little technical knowledge that informs typical reviews of high fidelity electronics, so reader beware! In my younger days, I was somewhat a dilettante audiophile and had KLH speakers connected to an amp/tape deck/turntable system, but that was all abandoned decades ago. So, in my recent move to a new house, I thought I'd revive those days to the best of my (limited) ability. I googled KLH speakers and the Model 5's looked exactly like my 1975 KLH speakers so I bought them. One of the reviews I read mention the NAD 3050 anniversary edition and - I'll be darned - the VU meters looked exactly like the meters on my SONY tapedeck! SO I bought it! I received both components as promised, shipped on time. The set up and connections were very easy. Both units look gorgeous. But while I have little technical knowledge, I do have ears. My first musical test was Beethoven and they sounded just awful. I immediately understood that my small home is awful acoustically - bare walls, floor and ceiling create enormous reverberation, echoes, distortion etc. So, I then had to research and order some acoustical panels, which I have not received and installed yet. So, I can't even give a qualitative amateur review of the sound yet - but hope to soon. But one thing' for sure: this is getting expensive! 5

[28.715 lb] The looks caught my eye, the specs sealed the deal. This is EXACTLY what I wanted in an amp. Dirac worked amazing and produced a neutral filter for my room. Phono preamp sounds good, eArc for multimedia TV playback is a great touch. This amp was built for me, a casual listener who wants a value laden, practical amp that has a few tricks up its sleeve. [Class-D] Small, yet powerful. Bass boost and gain work as advertised. Doesn't heat up. Comfortably drives my headphones between 11 and 1. On some Rock/Metal songs with boost and gain, some vocals and distorted guitars will become indistinguishable. With boost and gain nearly all EDM and Pop are sublime. All of this is through Hifiman Edition XS. I own and have compared this to both the Fiio BTR 7 and Shanling H2. Having purchased this i see no need to purchase any other Ifi product 5

[Yes] I got this amp for casual listening at my living room. Casual, yes, but quality is just as important. I paired it with a couple of Kef's LS50 meta and a KC62 subwoofer. I just use it for streaming (Apple music) and all I can say is that the sound is impeccable. As far as connectivity and setup, I am just as impressed. I have other BluOS equipment at home and everything went really smooth. It's a little pricey, yes, but not over priced. Great value in my opinion. Top quality all around. 5
