Based upon geometric research in fields of pentagonal tiling, where each individual piece is in the shape of a pentagon, the tiles allow you to build your own patterns from simple to complex. I imagine that if you have a 8x12 roll it either slices off the extra 2 or just uses an 8x10 piece. I've never used the 8x12 kit. The instructions will tell you about the different sizes.

A: While it may be possible to use the same fixer for both film and paper, I do not recommend using the same working batch for both film and paper. If you do plan to use the same fixer for both film and paper prints, I would create one working batch to be used with your film, and a separate working batch to be used with prints.
