Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Just received this Angler BoomBox. So far I enjoy it. I cannot for the life of figure out how to close the umbrella ?

A: You simply pull on the metal ring on the inside of the umbrella to close it and push it open. There is a video on our website that shows this, click the link below to view; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8v-fxmi8Ro&feature=emb_title

Q: 2. While I know any stobe with a bowens mount can ‘fit’ the connection, is there actually enough room inside of this to allow a strobe like the AD400 to fit with the modeling lamp bulb, etc.

A: No, the Godox VSA-26° Spot Lens will not work with the Godox AD400pro because the glass dome around the Flash tube extends too far. This Spot Lens should be used with LED lights as suggested by Godox.

Q: 3. will this work with my Godox DP400iii?

A: Yes, the Godox VSA-26° Spot Lens has a Bowens might. So, it is compatible on the Godox DP400III 400Ws Professional Studio Flash.

Q: 4. Can I use this with Godox LA-200bi?

A: Yes, the Godox VSA-26 Spot Lens can work with the Godox Litemons LA200Bi Bi-Color LED Light.

Q: 5. Will this work with Aputure 200x?

A: The Godox VSA-26° Spot Lens can be used with an Aputure 200x.

Q: 6. Can this be used with Godox SL150R?

A: Yes, the Godox VSA-26° Spot Lens would be compatible for use on the Godox SL150R RGB LED Light Fixture.

Q: 7. What is the maximum weight this mount can support? Given the lights attached to it will be bearing their weight onto the mount.

A: Godox does not list the support weight for the Godox VSA-26° Spot Lens. The heaviest light they list that works with that is, 6.2 lbs. But chances are it can support more.

Q: 8. what is the difference between the lenses (19,26,36)?

A: A 19 degree lens is better when the light is further from the subject with the 26/36 degree being better when the light is closer to the subject.

Q: 9. With a speedlight, does the deflector plate just reflect a significant amount of the light back out the back? A studio light would project into the box and send light sideways, but I've always been concerned that with a speedlight this kind of modifier would deflect too much light out the back.

A: The minute amount of light loss won't affect the added feature of the internal deflector which disperses the light toward the outer part of the softbox, defeating hot spots and enabling even output from edge to edge, with a quality of light reminiscent of a beauty dish.

Q: 10. Can you mount it on a camera tripod?

A: To adapt this softbox to a camera tripod, you can add the Manfrotto 119 Short (16mm) Adapter Spigot with 1/4"-20 & 3/8" Female Threads B&H # MA119 to the top of the tripod.

[24.645 lb] I ordered and received my 26 Boom Box a while back. I was not too happy with it when it arrived for two reasons, one of which was minor. It came with the wrong owners manual/instruction booklet. I got an instruction booklet for a table top portable cube. No big thing, I've been in photography way too many years not to be able to figure this thing out.
The second problem was with the item it's self. The second time I set it up for use, the screw that holds the box at the correct height felt like it was stripping out. I'm an old guy so I don't have that much strength in my hands anymore. The third time I set it up it felt the same way, so I stopped using it. and posted my review here on the B&H page.
Within a day I was contacted by the folks at Angler and they wanted to make this right. I was immediately sent another 26 Boom Box, a shipping label and their assurance it will be corrected.
I have to say that the folks at Angler jumped right on this and made all the necessary corrections.
My thanks to Angler for taking care of your customers, you did a great job.

[24.645 lb] Easy to set up and use the Angler makes a great head shot main source or fuller body secondary source light mod. Light fall off was beautiful especially when paired with the grid. Angler is killing it with light mods lately and I hope they continue to bring value to the market with products like this...

[24.645 lb] I use this with an amaran COB 60x S Bi-Color LED. Clean output, don't need a lot of power to get the effects I want. The optics focus nicely, crisply, no color fringing. Really pleased so far.

[24.645 lb] I appreciate the size and the quality of this as a mobile modifier, accent/accessory lighting source; although it definitely could be used as a main light source. Even though it's a small unit it comes with a reflector plate and of course the outside diffuser and as a bonus at time of sale it also included a grid. Both fit/attach well on the umbrella and also the additional grid fits well within the supplied compact storage case very nicely. I do like, and I certainly knew what I was buying in regard to the mounting bracket to accommodate a speed light onto it; however I did also purchase the 48 inch unit which comes with a Bowens type mount, which requires purchasing another mounting bracket ($20) to use, but it is a little more versatile, accommodating a speed light as well as a larger unit such as a Godox AD200 flash unit. Good product that I would recommend although consideration for different style of flash mounting may be considered.

[24.645 lb] I must admit that I was a bit skeptical of the Angler BoomBox (26) due to the lost cost; however, I have been pleased with the product's performance. Mechanically, no, it's not the best engineered device. It's value rocks-- especially with B&H promotions. It's a fine light modifier for small items/macro photography as well as portraits. Bottom line, it works great with Nikon SB-5000.

[24.645 lb] I have been on the fence as to whether this would be helpful to my kit. It felt like it may be a little gimmicky and I'd only use it in rare circumstances. I've found it to be wildly useful and I find ways to use this in nearly every interview since my purchase. Very well built and the case is sturdy and well thought out. My only complaint is how hot it gets, but that's not a design flaw at all, I just need to remember to turn this light off first and let it cool down while I pack the rest of my kit.

[24.645 lb] I’ve only used the angler boombox a couple of times so I can’t speak to its durability but it is portable, easy to set up and delivers beautiful, even light. I’m a fan.

[24.645 lb] It's the first softbox I ever bought and it's really all I needed for my photography projects.
I like how easy it is to put together and also the bag in which it arrives which makes it so compact. It has everything I needed inside and I'm attaching some pictures so you'll see it for yourselves. The material seems very strong and good quality. I hope it stays intact after many uses.
