A: The Impact 7' Improved Parabolic Umbrella (Silver) has more reflective material with texture on the inside while Westcott 7' Umbrella (Silver) has smooth texture and could be described as a coated silver.

Q: 2. Where is B&H getting that this umbrella is safe for up to 1000 watts? Westcott's specifications web page for this item says the maximum is 300 watts.

A: I have seen other stores say the same thing as B&H rated at 1000 watts. My lights are 640 watt strobes and being a strobe there is no heat to speak of because the flash is so quick. My shoots will typically be around 300 hundred shots with zero issues. Continuous lights or hot lights as they are commonly called might be another thing.

Q: 3. Hi!I m conssidering buying this umbrella but i own a Godox ad 600 and a Dynaphos Expert QS-300.does anyone know if it s compatibble?

A: I recently purchased this. I use it with a Profoto D1 and a speedlight with an umbrella bracket. This is just a really, really big umbrella. So any flash with an umbrella mount should fit just fine.

Is the clamp only useful as an accessory to certain Orca cases (‘like’ the one that is pictured) but the accommodating case is not included? Basically, why would I want to include the Cine Clamp with the Orca umbrella?

A: The case is not included , the clamp is not limited to orca , you can buy the umbrella without the clamp # OR112

Q: 6. Does this umbrella provide uv protection? Can it be used with most camera tripods?

A: The ORCA Outdoor Production Umbrella with Cine Clamp (XL) does not block UV rays. The handle has a 3/8"-16 socket, and most tripods have a 3/8"-16 screw to attach the tripod head. To attach the umbrella to the tripod head requires the Oben 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Reducer Bushing, BH #OB1039.

Q: 7. The pictures don't really show it but are these fiberglass ribs, that are more durable?

A: The Westcott 32" Soft Silver Umbrella includes fiberglass ribbing.

Q: 8. Hi, any idea where I can buy a top cap for the umbrella? It unscrews and falls off. It's the very end, metal piece at the tip of the umbrella. Certified service centers don't sell them. I would hate to have to buy a new umbrella for this particular piece that I'm sure they have extras for. =) Thanks!

A: Hi Albert, You could probably substitute a flat washer and an M6 metric nut. It wouldn't be as pretty, but it would do the job. You could find these at your local hardware store or the hardware department at Home Depot. Good Luck!

A: A beaded silver umbrella would have increased contrast over a bright silver non-beaded umbrella. The effect would generally result in sharper shadows and brighter highlights.

Q: 10. does this work with Elinchrom strobes?

A: This can only work with Elinchrom strobes that contain an umbrella mount above their stand mount. The umbrella will not fit the main umbrella slot below the flash tube.

[40.5 x 4 x 4"] Most hoods and loupes are over-priced and ineffective, so many of us try DIY-ing, which is usually just more cheaply ineffective. This Orca hood is NOT expensive and has its elastic band attached to a plastic cable running around the base, instead of directly to the fabric. The cable seems to stabilize and spread the hood's point-of-contact further around the LCD screen, and the elastic band can slide to the diagonal if that helps to seat the hood on the screen. I use this hood on my Sony PXW-X70 (it was recommended in the camera's user group on FB). The X70 has a touch-screen focus/meter shift function, and this hood is relatively deep, so I use a pencil eraser to touch the screen and rack-focus when outdoors. So far, it's great. Little to no little light leak. Only caveat: the hood has Velcro patches inside it to flatten it for storage, and when mounting it, it takes a while to remind the corners they are meant to be squared. Storing it open in your camera bag with batteries and lens cleaning supplies inside it helps. 5

[Yellow] I have a Camera cage that I bought via BH of course, so I don't have to take up the flash slot. My only wish is that the umbrella was bigger and possibly clear material. Good product! 5

[3 lb] Ive own several hoods until now they all end in the trash after a while, THIS IS Good not only really shades the light but is well made, seems durable, besides the rubber strips because of its design are easy to replace in the years to come, Good Purchase. 5

[Yellow] The pic on the website doesn't show it, but the pouch also includes a velcro flap with a belt hook style clamp that works great for mounting on the side of my audio bag (Orca OR-30). �Makes for more storage room inside the bag for other gear! The unit is held inside the pouch by a flam with magnets sown in. �Seems to be quality and I trust it to hold. The only weird thing is the velcro patch with the belt hook on it is the same rectangular shape as the whole side of the pouch, and the hook is sideways (lengthwise) instead of vertical like I would prefer to "hang" it. �So when it is hung this way the rectangle shape of the velcro doesn't match up with the horizontal orientation of the pouch with unit inside. �Not a big deal, but wanted to mention. 5
