Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can this be attached to a "K&M 260 Straight Microphone Stand (Black)"?

A: On the K&M 260 straight stand, removing the pole extension fromn the base would allow the boom to be inserted into the 260.

Q: 2. I understand that the boom itself has 2 connectors (3/8" & 5/8"). However, what is the thread for mounting the clamp assembly itself? is the "short tube" that is pictured "faded out" at the bottom included? How does this mount onto anything?

A: The manufacturer listing for the K&M 21431 Mini Boom Arm only mentions "wing nut" clamping. The vertical pole pictured in this product image is not included with the boom arm. Given that this arm is meant for mounting onto mic stands, which standardly have a 5/8" thread, it can be presumed that the wing nut hardware included likely adapts to 5/8" threads in some manner.

Q: 3. OK to add a boom arm e.g. PB21XEB to this? Will mostly use with Shure BLX24 mics.

A: Yes, that boom arm will work with the MS-43E stand. If you will be using a wireless handheld transmitter from the BLX series, I would suggest getting a mic clip such as the On-Stage MY110 Wireless Rubber Microphone Clip (B&H # ONMY110) that can fit a wireless mic in it if you do not already have one.

Q: 4. Would this be strong enough to hold a SM7B in place?

A: Yes, the Gator Frameworks GFW-MIC-MINIBM9 Adjustable Angle 9" Mini Boom is strong enough to support the Shure SM7B Vocal Microphone. According to the manufacturer, the Mini Boom can safely support up to 3 lbs.

Q: 5. can this be used with the gator deluxe frameworks desktop boom stand?

A: Yes, the Gator Frameworks GFW-MIC-MINIBM9 Adjustable Angle 9" Mini Boom could be used to extend the Gator Deluxe Frameworks Desktop Mic Boom Stand.

Q: 6. What is the diameter of the top section, will it hold a foba extension?

A: The clamp can work with items that are between,Minimum Jaw Diameter is 1.18 (30mm)Maximum Jaw Diameter is 1.38 (35mm)There are many Foba extensions. Technically if the one you are referring to is in between the sizes above it should fit.

Q: 7. What is the diameter of the boom shaft at the back end where the counterweight is located?

A: I am sorry but K&M does not provide that spec.

Q: 8. Can this be positioned upside down? As in clamped to a shelf overhead?

A: Yes you can clamp the Mount-It! Adjustable Microphone Boom Arm in an upside down position if needed.

Q: 9. What size is the screw at the end of the arm?

A: This mic arm kit comes with a 3/8 thread on the head and an 5/8 adapter included for standard US mics clips and shockmonts.

Q: 10. What stand should I use with this boom arm? I have an Atlas Sound MS-43E which is pretty stable, 8-lb base, but is it enough when used with Shure BLX24?

A: You can use your Atlas MS-43E mic stand with this boom arm and a Shure BLX2 handheld wireless mic transmitter (which is the transmitter for BLX24 system). The MS-43E can support the weight of the boom arm and the mic.

[Telescoping] Great build quality and very sturdy. It is also an excellent choice when varying lengths are needed.

[5/8"-27 Male] The Atlas boom arms are the best I've found for use in my studio. They include a 2-lb weight that attaches with a set screw. The parts all fit together well and work easily. The clutch is good and easy to set and release, and has good modulation for small or large smooth adjustments. I usually pay a bit more for these boom arms, but it's worth if for their good quality of design and manufacture. They are available in several lengths, so I can always find the size I want. Much better than many of the cheaper ones. Highly recommended from the owner of a pro studio.

[Black] A step up from the standard boom, works well with a 6 lb microphone.

[Telescoping] Solid and hefty boom arm for heavy mics that need a counterweight (about 4lbs). Nothing beats Atlas mic stands for durability, ease of use and security that your mic will not fall off.

[Screw-Knob] I love equipment, but I don't usually get this worked up over it. I knew this was gonna be a good boom because I know Atlas makes good stuff, but it surpasses even what I thought it might be. Wow-this thing is beautiful. It's really got a hefty feel about it, and the adjustments are ultra-smooth, what I'd hope for in a really professional piece of equipment. If you like quality, this is it. Marc.

[Screw-Knob] I bought this Atlas boom to replace an Ultimate telescoping boom because the friction clamps that hold the Ultimate boom in place are too hard to get tight enough to stay put. This Atlas boom is easy to position right where I want it (at the side of my keyboard) and doesn't move or droop once it is set. I mounted it on an Ultimate tripod stand because the Ultimate stand is stable; even with the boom fully extended to one side, it doesn't tip over. Too bad the Ultimate boom is junk.

[4 lb] For musicians needing a solid boom arm, look no further. Atlas is simply the best you can purchase in this price range. I play keyboards and need a long boom that extends off the piano. Before getting the PB21X, boom arms would fall due to the weight of the microphone. As a result, I would either crank the arm, stripping it after several uses OR I'd have to shorten and move the stand closer. Then whenever I tried to play in the upper register my hands would run into the stand or I'd clam notes from trying to move around it. Not anymore! The counterweight is awesome and this boom arm is head and shoulders above others I've owned--and believe me I've tried them all. The telescoping allows for both short and long applications, i.e.- piano, guitar, strings and other miking needs. If you're wondering if it's worth the investment, I say yes! Believe me when I say you WON'T need to tamper with your mic boom anymore.
