Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Anyone have experience using this with a Blackmagic Cinema Camera? That camera is a bit larger and heavier than some DSLRs out there--just concerned about tipping. Say, with a 5-pound sand bag on the legs?

A: That's a ton of torque, not a tone , ha...

Q: 2. Is there are any other indexes can be used as a basis for performance when use the strobe light except the CCT/LB/CC index?

A: Only the CCT/LB/CC indexes are available when measuring strobes.

Q: 3. Is the quick release plate included with the purchase of the Photek Trix-2500?

A: Yes

Q: 4. As an event video shooter our most challeging task is to record in uncontrolled light situations with multiple cameras and make them cut nicely in edit... with this meter will it allow us to know the most precise overall Kelvin temp of several ambient lights in a room and any magenta/green necessary adjustments? We have used grey cards but the cameras have crazy readings when we use the white balance setting based on those? specially yellow/green painted rooms and vivid green nature backgrounds...

A: This color meter can give you exact information based on the color of the light. Depending on where and how you meter relative to other lights you can get a combined reading or a reading per light. Color meters are more accurate than gray cards for setting white balance.

Q: 5. Does this work Magnus TR-13 Travel Tripod with Dual-Action Ball Head?

A: Yes, the Photek TRI-X 2500 can fit on the base plate of the Magnus TR-13 Travel Tripod.

Q: 6. I have an inexpensive Bower tripod that has a quick release mount. I'm confused as to how this attaches to my tripod. Does it attach to the quick release plate?

A: Yes, this attaches to the quick release. Be very careful, this extender is heavy and with the weight of the extender and the camera, the tripod may topple over. The quick release also tends to have a sway. Pointing this out especially since you mention you have an inexpensive tripod. Granted it comes with a hook and bag for counterbalancing, but not sure how effective that will be because there is also a noticeable sway. Also when tightening the extender nut, it does damage the metal and creates a noticeable dent. For how heavy this is, the metal is quite soft.I will not buy this model again.

Q: 7. Will this arm be suitable for a canon 5d mark iii?

A: I should work just fine as it will accept anything with a standard tripod connector. The only question is how much does your camera weigh. You may need to do a counter balance. I use a Nikon D800 with grip attachment and it works just fine.

Q: 8. Is this meter also a light meter measuring incident and spot?

A: The main function of this meter is to measure color, but it can also provide readings in foot candles.

Q: 9. Since this tripod arm comes with a ball head, am I able to rotate the camera to take photos in any direction or is it just straight down? For example, take a photo of a plate on a table and then rotate the camera to take a photo of art hanging on the wall in portrait position.

A: It is full 360 degree ball rotation.

Q: 10. How much is calibration? How often is it required?

A: This meter comes fully calibrated from the factory and does not require calibration on a regular basis.

[LED] High quality product - I have been using Light&Motion products for over 5 years. They are built tough! They are reliable and worth the price. The night sea is a specialized blue used to see underwater fluorescence during the night. I use a yellow barrier filter to photograph these beautiful colors underwater. This light is for explorers, divers, researchers, scientists and nature lovers.

[12 to 60°] Historically, SeaLife has made products more for the diver getting an entry into underwater photography.  However, more recently they are providing more upscale products for the experienced photographer/videographer.

The SeaDragon 2500 is an excellent product.  I have over 500 dives in my log and have used their light for more than 400 of them.

The light has traveled all over the world and been banged around on boats, dropped on concrete, etc.  To quote an old phrase...It takes a lickin and keeps on tickin!!

Ive had only one issue with a spare battery and when I contacted customer service they immediately sent me an RMA for returning it.

To the commenter Roger who gave one star and then modified his review later when he got satisfaction from customer service.  Its a shame you slammed a perfectly good product that indeed had a flaw but the company stood behind their product.

Although I have thousands of dollars in high-end underwater gear, Sea Life is definitely a well made product and you can work with the company to get satisfaction.  Thats more than you can say about a lot of companies these days!

[12 to 60°] I like this light so much that I bought a second one. I purchased the original one to use with a Sealife Micro HD camera and it works so well, I bought a second light to use with my Gopro. This light has great output, easy to use, and good battery life. Gopro mounting is flawless with the included attachment. I have no hesitations in recommending this light.

[LED] This has been my main light for my Canon G16 and Canon G7x with Fantasea housings along with my Sealife Micro camera and it has performed flawlessly for two years so far. The company has been very responsive with regards to my strobes and other camera questions. This is my choice for a powerful 2500 Lumen dive light.
