The 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS Lens for Four Thirds Mount from Bower is a manual focus wide-angle lens compatible with Four Thirds format digital cameras. It provides a 67.6° angle of view which translates into a 35mm format focal length equivalency of 32mm. Its fast maximum aperture of f/2.0 is effective in low light shooting and provides shallow depth of field. With two aspherical lens elements and high index low dispersion glass, chromatic aberrations are minimized and sharp, color-accurate images are the result. Multi-coating on all optical elements facilitates even light transmission and reduces ghosting and flare.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Just purchased the Rokinon 16mm F/2.0 with Pentax K mount for my Pentax K-5 IIs body. With the aperture ring set to A, and setting to AV (also B, TAV modes), cannot get F stop to F2 (only goes to F4). Any suggestions? Already have an F4 lens, so getting to F2 is important. Thanks!

A: I believe the lens is defective. I would recommend contacting customer service to get a replacement.

Q: 2. hi, is there an improvement over the Samyang 12mm f/2.0 version in terms of image sharpness?

A: I didn't try the 12mm, but I can tell you, the 16mm is very sharp. That's one of the first things I noticed when I got mine.

Q: 3. how is this lens for indoor real estate photography in tight spots is there a lot of barrel distortion?

A: This lens is designed for Nikon camera with an APS-C sized sensor. So if you are using such a camera you will get great results with lens.

Q: 4. I'm seeing conflicting reports ... Will this lens work on a Nikon D5000 DX? Wanting it for night/astrophotography. Thank you!

A: Yes, Rokinon 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS for Nikon F Mount is fully compatible with Nikon DSLRs with APS-C sized image format such as your Nikon D5000. The lens is manual focus only therefore you will need to set your camera to manual mode (M), operate the aperture on the lens, and control the shutter speed and ISO on the camera.

Q: 5. Hello Good evening I would like to know if this lens is compatible with the Canon 7D Mark II , let me know as soon as possible.

A: Hi Sheilan,I use this lens with my Canon 7D Mark I, not the II. It works perfect with the I, but I am unaware of the II, I assume it would be just fine. The only thing you have to consider is that the 7D has the APS-C sensor and this lens is meant for UMC. The only thing this does when using this lens on the 7D is make the effective focal length 16mm*1.6 = about 25mm. So when this lens is used with the 7D consider it a 25mm focal length lens. Otherwise it works just fine and has been a great lens for me so far. Note that it is all manual too.

Q: 6. I am considering buying the Samyang 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS Lens for Sony Alpha camera. Is this a cine lens? Will I be able to use this lens to zoom in on a subject or is the lens a set focal length?

A: The Samyang 16mm f2.0 is a fixed focal length lens. It will not zoom.

Q: 7. Hi will this work with a GH4 through a metabones/ lens turbo focal reducer or is the EF-S thing a deal killer?

A: You could use the Rokinon 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS Lens for Canon EF-S Mount on the GH4 with a Metabones Speed Booster. Though, I would suggest using the 0.71X instead of the 0.64X to reduce the risk of vignetting.

Q: 8. I have the CANON EFs24mm STM that I use for Landscapes, is there an major increase in field of view with the 16mm, comparing to the 24mm field of view ?

A: That lens, the EF-S 24mm, is giving you over 38mm on a crop sensor, without knowing field of view, I'm not sure what you would end up with. I'm no expert on this, but I believe Canon always gives focal length in 35mm equivalent. But even at that length, you could use it for astrophotography, less field of view.

Q: 9. Will this Lens fit on Canon EOS 7D ? Thank you

A: The Rokinon 16mm f/2.0 ED AS UMC CS Lens for Canon EF-S Mount will fit on the 7D, yes. The 7D can use both EF and EF-S mount lenses.

Q: 10. Will I be able to use the in-camera manual-metering exposure system on a Nikon D7100 when using this lens?

A: Yes, when you set your aperture to the red f22, you will be able to use the sub command dial on the front of the grip, using your right index finger, to set and change your aperture and the exposure compensation button does function properly. Auto exposure has been very accurate on my d7100. The only thing missing is auto focus, which, in my opinion, would be almost useless anyway, with such a wide angle lens. Personally, I much prefer the big, smooth-turning, manual focus ring on this lens, to having auto-focus.

[f/2] An excellent lens, with great image quality. Very sharp at the widest aperture, which is a huge pro, comparing to other wide-angle lenses. The manual focusing brings a lot of challenges to the autofocus accustomed users; it was indeed a challenge to me, especially focusing at infinity; but with a little practice I managed to nail it. The only con I found was that the lens is very tough to attach. However, this doesn't affect in any way the image quality, so I give this lens 5 stars.

[Four Thirds] This lens has amazing optical quality. If you are used to using manual focus you will love this 24mm equivalent lens (35mm conversion). For the price, you get optical quality that rivals even the Fuji glass. I am 100% happy with this product and can't recommend it enough. I would like to try the 12mm version soon too for astrophotography.

[67.6°] I use this lens on my old Olympus fourthirds cameras and it is now just about my favorite lens. Sharp as a razor and great color/contrast. Build quality is excellent. Thanks B&H!

[f/22] I've had this lens for over 6 months and it provides great image quality even wide open, stopping down to 2.8 or 4 is ideal. It is fast enough to be useful in almost any lighting situation, and the focal length is as close enough to a 35mm(On MFT) to be just about right for you wide angle applications. The price makes it ideal for the independent filmmaker. The build quality is also fantastic. I flubbed up once and dropped it from a messenger bag at my waist and the thing just bounced away without a scratch. I just wish I got the cine version so I don't have to bother with follow focus adapters.

[Four Thirds] What do I have to say... I love that lens! I've had it for about a year now, and it's a great lens. It's very sharp, even at f/2 (the corners get sharper as you stop down, but even at f/2, they're pretty good!), it's well built, it feels nice and solid, the focus ring dampening is really good. There's some vignetting, but it's nothing terrible, and the distortion isn't bad either. You have to watch out for flare, thought. If you're using it for night photography, it can be worth bringing black cardboard and tape to make a bigger lens hood. In most situations the provided lens hood is enough, but if you're doing a long exposure, or star trails, over time, the rays of light coming from street lights and lit signs can kinda cumulate and show in the final result, so be mindful of that. Besides that, I think it's a really good lens. Not for those who need small a small lens with AF, but if you need optical and build quality, the Samyang/Rokinon 16mm f/2 is a lens of choice.

[Four Thirds] I bought this lens as soon as it became available hoping I could check it off from my my low light, wide angle wish list. I can now say it has fulfilled my expections and is now off that list. It stays sharp throughout the entire viewing area, even at its widest aperture of 2.0. You have to manually set aperture and focus, no problem if you are filming with somewhat constant distance to your subject and under similar ighting conditions. I use it with my new Sony VG-30 camcorder, comes with Sony E-Mount, fits perfectly, no need for adapters. I stays on my camcorder all the time for steadicam shots, looks fantastic and not at all like fisheye. For normal lighting changes during shot, you can use combination of auto gain/auto shutter on camcorder to compensate for manual iris ring on lens. Average weight, professional build, really nice lens for the money.

[Manual Focus] I bought this lens about a month and a half ago and so far I am loving it! I use it primarily for landscape shots, and it has been a charm! Very sharp, with a very smooth focus ring and aperture ring. The only think I could complain about is that it is kind of a pain to attach and take off. That could just be me though. Also, it's a nice-looking lens. If I were to buy a lens by looks alone, this would be one of them.

[Four Thirds] I bought this lens mainly for night sky photography- and it's doing an amazing job! Even at f2 the center is incredible sharp (but the edges are a bit blurry) and it great to photograp the Milkyway. I also use it for landscape photos during the day at f5.6-11.... it's extremly sharp (even the edges are incredible sharp). Overall- if you don't want to spend $1000+ this is probably one of the best fast APSC Wide Angle lenses. I can recommend it to everybody who is intrested in a good wide angle lens and doesn't want to spend too much money!
