Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this stand good for the MXL 770? Can I use it for a home studio?

A: It will work with your MXL770 in a home studio environment, but this stand is a little bulky, and you might want to consider using a stand with a boom arm so that you can position the mic a bit better. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/755877-REG/auray_ms_5230f_tripod_microphone_stand.html

Q: 2. do you sell carrying case for this stand?

A: Yes. The Auray RFMS-580 tripod stand will fit in most cases designed for microphone or speaker stands such as the Gator Cases GPA-50 (B&H # GASSB) or Auray SB-52SSB Speaker Stand Bag (B&H # AUSB52SSB), which are both soft carrying bags.

Q: 3. How long are the legs of the tripod?

A: The tripod legs are approximately 18-inches long.

Q: 4. I purchased this but need the parts necessary to actually mount a mic. What should I order?

A: Microphones generally ship with a clip that allows it to be connected to a mic stand. The proper mount will depend on the mic to be attached.

Q: 5. will this work with a Blue Yeti? would I need any adapter?

A: Yes, you can mount the Blue Yeti microphone on the Auray RFMS-580 tripod stand. The Yeti has a standard 5/8" mounting thread on the bottom which can be attached to microphone standard or broadcast arm. To keep the mic isolated from noise and vibrations, the manufacturer recommends using the Blue Radius III Shockmount (B&H# BLRADIUS3) to mount the Yeti first, then attaching the shockmount to a mic stand or broadcast arm.

Q: 6. can I mount K&M 25530 Boom Arm with Adjustable Counterweight ?

A: Yes, the K&M 25530 Boom Arm with Adjustable Counterweight (B&H # KMXLABACB) can be mounted on the Auray RFMS-580 Reflection Filter Tripod Mic Stand.

Q: 7. What is the spread of the legs when fully open compared to to a run-of-the-mill mic stand?

A: The Auray RFMS-580 stand has a footprint of approximately 24" when the legs are fully open.

Q: 8. How heavy is the filter without the stand?

A: Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not provide this information. However, the mic stand alone has a listed weight of 1.8 lbs. The total weight of this package is 2.75 lbs. The filter should then weigh .95 lbs.

Q: 9. What is the lowest height adjustment of this stand?

A: Height; 42 to 68" / 106.68 to 172.72 cm Collapsed Size: 35.2" / 89.41 cm

Q: 10. Can this hold a Aston Halo? Do I need a thread adapter of some kind?

A: No adapter is needed.

[0.2 lb] I'm pretty happy with this item. It does what it's supposed to do and more. I even loaded it with a heavy Canon 1DX Mark II (see pictures). It will stay securely as long as you know what you're doing, as it kind of obviously exceeds what the specification would recommend but it can be done.

Also holds a Canon M-50 with a heavy L series lens 24-105 easily.

This item features a 5/8 threaded microphone stand type, but if you get an optional 5/8 to 3/8 or a 5/8 to 1/4-20 adapter, you can endlessly place this thing on every stand you can think of.

The top plate, where things go, the rubber is very grippy, so your camera won't turn or slide, nor will scratch anything.

No need to over tighten anything. Just turn the knob until is tightened enough.

Cons: Sometimes, the ball gets a little difficult to freely move around even when the screw knob is loosened, but its just a little bit. When you have something loaded on this unit, that goes away.

Overall 9.7 out of 10! Pretty happy with this. Planning to order one as I need more.

[0.2 lb] I often need to place small cameras and lights in places too tight or awkward for a tripod or C-stand. This adaptor is perfect for turning mic stands into light-duty grip arms or camera mounts. I used one on a boom stand to get a light in just the right place and another on a gooseneck (to mount a GoPro on for a tabletop copy stand). They are robust enough to mount a full size DSLR. I'll likely get a few more.

[0.2 lb] This little gizmo is exactly what I needed, provides a wide range of adjustment and enables you to achieve pretty much any angle. Somewhat stiff movement at first, but a little teflon lubricant freed it up quite nicely.

[6 lb / 2.72 kg] Sturdy. Does just what it is supposed to. Locking mechanism makes it easy to adjust but, once locked down, it is solidly in place.

[6 lb / 2.72 kg] I use these for POV cams inside a drumset or somewhere else where space is limited and a mic boom stand is ideal. Works as intended and it feels like it will last through many shows.

[0.2 lb] I teach piano (now remotely) and this adapter works perfectly and securely at holding my webcam on the boom mic stand over my piano keyboard. The best part is the swivel mechanism allowing me to adjust the webcam in the best position over the keys.

[6 lb / 2.72 kg] I purchased this to mount my Canon M50 to my Samson boom arm. The ball head is handy for getting the perfect angle. The 1/4 thumbscrew to attach it to your camera or other device works as expected and I find it easy to use. Just beware that the screw does come completely out so you have to hold everything in place while attaching the camera which can be tricky at first and I have dropped it many times, and it is very solid heavy metal so it has dented my desk. The dents don't concern me but it you had it over a tablet or something breakable underneath it while setting up or breaking down, you could cause some damage if you aren't careful. Just something to be aware more than anything but I still think it deserves 5 stars! It's a small piece of equipment that I couldn't work without now that I have it!
