The Zacuto Z-Drive & Tornado Grip Kitis a follow focus unit designed for single-operator shoulder mounted rigs. It attaches to a single 15mm rod and features a curved design that creates space and distance from the lens. This extra space provides for more comfortable use when the camera rig is on your shoulder.

The Z-Drive is adjustable for use with a variety of lens sizes, and can be operated on either side of your rig, facing either towards the lens, or backward toward the operator for use with a standard focus whip when on a tripod or dolly. It slides onto a single 15mm rod and tightens into place with a quick-release ratcheting lever. It can also be adjusted towards and away from your lens via a red thumb screw, for use with a variety of lens diameters.

The Z-Drive has a fixed 0.8 pitch gear for connecting to your lens. For lenses that don't have 0.8 pitch gears, like most DSLR lenses, Zacuto ZipGears are available, sold separately. Also available is the Zacuto Tornado, which attaches to the Z-Drive's whip port and provides a mechanical follow focus handgrip.

A: Yes you can. The FX9 Trigger Grip attaches to your rig or camera via the M6 Rosette.

A: To use a Zacuto Z-Drive (B&H# ZAZDRV) with a Canon Cine Prime lens you may need to add a (higher) riser plate/base plate to your camera so that you can achieve the desired distance between the gear on the lens' focus ring and the gear on the Z-Drive. That is because this particular product is more typically used with smaller lenses.

Q: 3. Do you need to buy the Axis Mini (for FS5) in order to mount the Z-Finder to the EVA1 ?

A: You do not. This mounts to the screen.

Q: 4. What comes in the box for the Zacuto Tornado Grip for Z-Drive? If I purchase the Zacuto C100 EVF Recoil will I be able to attach the Tornado to it or will I have to purchase a bunch of other items?

A: What you see is what you get. You'll need the z-drive and 15mm rails to mount that to. Z-drive is good...tornado grip is not necessary. You'll also need focus gear rings if you're using dslr glass.

Q: 5. Would this support heavier 3rd party monitors on the fx6 such as the SmallHD Ultra 5 that weighs a little over a pound/500g?

A: Sorry, I was wrong. I guess it will work without having the Zacuto top handle. But the top handle give you a lot more options. I don't use the Z-finder much at all but i do like how you can adjust the C300 viewfinder a lot with the zacuto setup.

Q: 8. Will this mount to the Vocas Top Cheese Plate for Canon C300 MKII?

A: It appears that the left side of the Vocas plate does have two 1/4 screw holes that should accommodate the Z Finder. Note: it may not allow you to move the Z-Finder far enough forward. Also, since this is an unknown combination of three products, it is our only opinion that this set up should work, however it is not guaranteed.

Q: 9. We wish to use the Zacuto Z-drive with the Canon C100 Mark II mounted to the DJI Ronin Gimbal & attached to the EASYRIG CINEMA 3 with the Flowcine Puppeteer. Do you know if it will be compatible?

A: Using a manual follow focus with a gimbal defeats the purpose of the gimbal. every time you touch the focus handle you will move the camera. What you need for that kind of setup is a wireless follow focus. The other option is to remove the Ronin and mount the C100, with the Z-drive, directly to the Easyrig.
