The UMS1-5.5 from Middle Atlantic is a 1 RU rackshelf designed for mounting small components and improving organization in rack enclosures contained in houses of worship, concert venues, recording facilities, A/V installations, and more. Its universal mounting pattern includes countersunk holes for compatibility with Extron devices.

The shelf attaches easily to standard 19" equipment racks. The sturdy steel construction can hold up to 25 lb on the 5.5" deep surface. Sixteen #4 screws and four #6 screws are included for anchoring equipment to the rackshelf.

A: It's a flat black paint. No grain is visible

A: No. The Odyssey 3 RU Rack Bag has rack rails in the front only.

A: This is not specified by Middle Atlantic: "Designed for use with the stock washers supplied with all Middle Atlantic screws" They work with a (loose fit) 10/32" screw.

Q: 4. Does this rack come with mounting screws? I see something listed as ‘assembly kit’ as included in the packaging but am unsure if that entails that it comes with mounting screws. Thanks in advance!

A: The assembly kit is what allows you to build the rack since it is not pre-built to you. For mounting gear, you will need to by separate rack screws. B&H # AURSW1032100.

Q: 5. Can the zipper lid zip off completely or is it permanently hinged?

A: The zipper lid is permanently hinged to the rack case.

Q: 6. Can I keep the Middle Atlantic RK2 RK Series Rack (2U) on it's side? I want to put it under my desk but next to the desk leg. I keep a Audio Mixer and PDU in the Rack.

A: If the equipment doesn't mind the position, I doubt the rack will mind at all. I would be sure, positioning it sideways, that I had four rack screws in each piece of gear.

Q: 7. Is this rack the appropriate width for the Blackmagic Video hub?

A: It is a standard 19 rack so you should have no problem with your hub.

Q: 8. How wide is the cable shelf sticking out the back?

A: The cable shelf on the Middle Atlantic Brush Grommet Panel BR2 is just under 3 inches.

Q: 9. will this work with Blackmagic Design Teranex Mini Rack Shelf ?

A: Yes, they are both standard 19" racks.

A: The SmallRig Camera Cage for the Panasonic DMC-GH4 has many 1/4"-20 threads for you to screw in the SmallRig 7" Articulating Arm. There is a 1/4"-20 screw on each end of the arm.

[Steel] Very pleased with this rack so far, it feels sturdy and the vents' provide excellent tie down points and is pretty versatile. My only comment (and it feels like a real non-issue since this rack doesn't move) is that the stops that come with the shelf have the ability to slide back and forth a little bit and if you were using them as the sole means of securing your hardware it might frustrate you. It doesn't warrant taking points off since you don't need to even use the stops and they can't slide past the channel they were put in so the most your hardware could move backwards or forwards is a half inch. 5

[Steel] I am using these to allow airflow and cooling around a laptop, external hard drives, and external processors in an insulated rack. They are very sturdy, a good size (for my requirements at least), and seem to have a good amount of holes for ventilation. They also come with 4 L-brackets to keep your equipment in place if necessary. Exactly what I was looking for. 5

[1 RU] purchased these to mount KVM extenders in a rack, was worried others would bend so went with MA, they are SOLID, no bend whatsoever. 5

[25 lb / 11.3 kg] Well made sturdy rackshelf with numerous holes and grooves for flexibility. Researched various products and this was great value and quality. If you have a specialized piece of gear that a company make their own rackshelf for you may need to spend the extra coin to satisfy your need, but in general it's a good deal. 5

[Steel] Needed to get a mixer power supply off the floor of a transportable cabinet. Rigged some "L" brackets with rack rail and the rest is history. couldn't have found a better solution. 5
