The 77mm Neewer 77mm Variable ND Filter 1-9 Stopfrom Neewer 77mm Variable ND Filter 1-9 Stophelps control the amount of light reaching your camera sensor by 1 to 9 stops. Simply screw this ultraslim filter on your camera lens, and then use the built-in putter to rotate the filter to accurately adjust from ND2 to ND400. By reducing exposure brightness, the filter enables you to better control shutter speed for capturing rivers, waterfalls, light trails, and another images requiring increased motion blur. The filter is made with multicoated optical glass and an aluminum frame. The double-sided nano-coating reduces flare and ghosting while protecting the filter against moisture, oil, dust, and scratches. Please note, as the filter features a putter handle, it cannot support a lens hood.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are there any astrophotography filters that fir this filter system?

A: I'm sorry, no.

Q: 2. If I use this on a full frame camera will it change the crop factor?

A: No. This adapter does not change the crop factor.

Q: 3. Can we change lenses without removing the adapter? In other words can the adapter stay in the camera when change lens?

A: Yes, the lens can be removed from the Meike Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF to EOS-R with Variable ND Filter without removing the adapter form the camera.

Q: 4. Will this work on a Komodo?

A: While Canon does not list compatibility of the Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Variable ND Filter with the RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO 6K Digital Cinema Camera (Canon RF), as the camera uses the Canon RF lens mount, yes, the adapter should be compatible for usage on the Komodo 6K Digital Cinema Camera.

Q: 5. filter itself? Is it a nano coated? Any details on color cast (blue)?

A: It is not nano coated and there is a slight blue cast on the upper range.

Q: 6. Is it compatible with the metabones speedbooster on a Sony FS7? Stabilisation Will work?

A: This is not compatible with the FS7 or any other E-Mount camera. This is an EF to EOS R Adapter.

Q: 7. Is there a non-variable ND filter option that can be dropped in? VND can cause some really weird looks across the frame and the more I use them, the more I dislike them.

A: You can use this polarizer in the adapter. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1434114-REG/canon_3445c001_drop_in_circular_polarizer_filter.html This clear filter is used when there is no filter present to prevent dust getting into the camera. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1434115-REG/canon_3444c001_drop_in_clear_filter_a.html

Q: 8. Does the VND filter have any polarizing effects on the light entering the camera?

A: There have been no reports of a polarizing effect with this variable ND filter installed into the adapter.

Q: 9. Anyone noticed any cross polarization (looks like vignetting) with this variable ND?

A: Hi,I just tested this for you. No cross polarization or heavy vignetting across a variety of lenses.

Q: 10. If using only legacy lenses, a mount adapter would always be needed, but not the ND filter. If shooting when the filter is not needed, would I have to purchase the basic mount adapter, or can I just remove the filter from the adapter?

A: Yes, that is correct. SOMETHING has to be in the filter slot 1) in order to simply keep dust and debris out of the adapter (without the ND filter or the clear filter, there would be a large opening in your adapter on which your lens connects), and 2) as the adapter was designed with the ND filter in mind, the filter becomes part of the optical formula. Without a piece of glass with the same design and size in the slot, it may affect proper focusing. As such, the Canon Drop-In Clear Filter A, B&H # CADICFA, is required when you are not using the ND filter and you do not want the effect of an ND filter on your image.

[Glass] Was looking for a filter that I would be able to shoot 180° shutter speed during the day and it works just perfect

[82 mm] Great filter, excellent quality, and the ring rotates perfectly and even better than if it were sliding on butter. Very satisfying sensation.Upload

[Aluminum] I really like this filter. The only downside is the crazy color cast in the corner of the frame when you place the filter mark on the last dot and the maximum label. This kind of color cast is normal for variable ND filters, so it is ok, I just have to be careful while recording.

[Aluminum] This is a very nice Variable neutral density filter that allows you to slow down your shutter speed by 2 to 8 stops without changing other parameters. At this diameter, and with a set of step up adaptors, this filter can be adjusted to most lenses.
Why getting this? This can allow a protographer to obtain a silky appearance to flowing water and can also let someone to use a very wide aperture (for obtaining a shallow Dept of field) in very bright conditions without increasing the shutter speed.
For travelers, this is much more portable and affordable than the large rectangular or square filters.
Excellent craftsmanship -

[82 mm] Great purchase at a great price. Perfect when using in intense sun light, allows for use with low apertures without over exposure

Also produces amazing distortion and water affects.

Highly recommended

[Aluminum] I always had a bias that varioND filters shift colors greatly and colors vary in different filter positions.
Good news, there is a small color shift when you put the filter on the lens (which is easy to fix in post) but after through all the range you have almost no color shift! The difference between the min and max filter power is barely noticeable even on vectorscope.
