Capture dreamy images with the Neewer Black Diffusion Filter 62mm Grade 1/4 Cinematic Effectfrom Neewer, compatible with lenses with 62mm filter threads. This 1/4 density filter softens hard edges and provides a smoothing effect by reducing contrast and the overall value of highlights. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What is the advantage or differencebetween a non-coated polarizer vs a multi coated?

A: The non coated polarizer will scratch much more easily. Since the price differential is nominal when you consider the polarizer cost, it is worth it. Especially, if you plan on keeping the camera and the lens, it will extend the useful life.

Q: 2. Can anyone tell me how thick this filter is? I'm trying to compare it to other slim filters.

A: Including the screw thread it is about 8mm thick.

Q: 3. would this fit the D5300 camera with lens that came with camera? Want to give as gift.

A: No, the one I bought was for a 10-24mm lens I purchased later after my camera purchase. The standard lens that comes with the camera is an 18-55mm lens and requires a 52mm filter, not the 77mm filter. Try the B&H# HOCPA52 or B&H# HOCPN52 filter. There is a camera package that includes a 18-140mm lens but that would require a 67mm filter. For that, try B&H# HOCPN67 or B&H# BWCPMC67.

Q: 4. When I use the filter and the lens hood can I still rotate the filter? Thats would be a good reason to buy Nikon over B&H

A: Depends on what lens hood you have, the deeper the lens hood the harder it is to get your finger in to turn. I usually set the filter to what polarization I prefer then attach the lens hood making sure I do not alter the filter.

Q: 5. Can this filter be used with a Canon Powershot SX420 IS ?

A: Unfortunately, the SX420 IS lacks a filter thread, therefore it cannot work with this filter.

Q: 6. Can I use this teleprompter with an iPhone as the camera instead of a dslr?

A: The Neewer X17 Remote Teleprompter (Black) is not designed to be used with the iPhone and so would need an adapter such as the Oben ASPTA-20 Smartphone Tripod Adapter, BH #OBASPTA20, in order to mount to the teleprompter.

Q: 7. Is there an adapter so the 112 mm circular polarizer can be used on other lenses, such as 77 mm?

A: Unfortunately, a step down ring from 112-77mm is not currently offered.

Q: 8. Is the Nikon 77mm Circular Polarizer II Filter made of Brass or Aluminum?

A: It is heavy enough I'm pretty sure it is brass. What ever metal it is harder than aluminum. Don't ever get aluminum as it is way too soft and eventually it will ding the thread so will be unusable unless you are into repairing threads with a very fine file and magnifying glasses, which I have also done.

Q: 9. What is the recommended cleaning for this polarizer?

A: You may use a product such as the Pancro Professional Lens Cleaner (4 oz), B&H # PAN001 and a Sensei Microfiber Lens Cleaning Cloth (Gray), B&H # SECCMF77G to clean this filter. https://bhpho.to/2Vlp07b https://bhpho.to/2MkTd27

Q: 10. Nikon circular polarizer 77mm

A: Not sure what the question is but the Nikon CPOL II is top of the line. Compared to the B-W, the Nikon has a higher polarizing effect, smoother rotation, and is thinner. Easy one finger set inside a sun hood. Once set, it stays put. Pricey but worth it. Get step-up rings to cover other lens filter sizes

[Aluminum] Excellent build quality, filter turns super smooth and works great. Such a nice feature having 2 in 1.

[Glass] This filter was a pleasure to use. I find that it performs best in sunlight and dusk settings. I intended to use this with a mist filter; however, I found this star filter seems to naturally have a 10% mist effect that softens an image even when there are no light sources to create a star effect. I will say that if used after dark and in a city environment, the effect can be a quite strong and distracting.

[Aluminum] If you're looking at this filter you likely already know what it is for, and sure enough it does exactly what Tiffen say. Optical resolution drops down but contrast loss and halation are kept to an absolute minimum. Strangely, if you look at Tiffen's triangle of diffusion diagram you'll see they put this filter halfway between resolution reduction and halation, implying you will get some soft highlight spreading. You absolutely do not and I don't know why that particular diagram suggests it when all their text and videos say it doesn't cause halation and, as I said, in use it certainly does not.
Allegedly on wide-angle shots or when using very small apertures you may see the black dots in the image. I can't say I've noticed this myself, but I only use this for shoulder-up shots, typically 50mm, often at fairly wide apertures, so I'm not in that 'danger zone'. If you want to shot wide and stopped down, maybe take caution and check out the Digital Diffusion/FX instead, which is meant to cause the same resolution drop without the black dots getting in the way.

I've had some limited experience with some Tiffen filters having poorly-cut threads, but otherwise the construction quality has been fine. Can't guarantee you'll get a faultless one but the fault rate, in my experience, has at least been very low – about one out of twenty filters having an issue, and even then, not one severe enough to stop the filter from mounting and functioning.

[Glass] I own two of these for two camera shoots. They produce a nice subtle softening for skin and reduction in overall contrast. Not too much, just enough to take the edge of digital cinema cameras.

[Aluminum] I recently purchased the Neewer 5-in-1 Magnetic Filter Kit & have been using them on a Nikon D750 with a 28-300mm lens, so far I love the results! The magnetic ring & filters are so much easier & faster to use than screw on ND filters. Before I was Using a variable ND filter & most of my images turned out unusable due to dark splotches in different parts of the image. I have not had any such problems with these filters. Great product for a decent price.

[Aluminum] I'm pleased with this lens filter. It has a niche use, but it's fun to experiment with.

[Aluminum] Most photographers use at least one diffusion filter for portraits, whether a professional whose clients need to look great, or the rest of us who want to flatter Granny at her 90th birthday celebration party. I have kids with iffy complexions in their adolescence and didn’t want to rely too heavily on Photoshop for the fix.

For use on my Quattro DP2, this filter does a fine job of holding small details like eyelashes, yet blends blemishes well. (One caveat: a large blackhead or dark pimple may be accentuated, depending on circumstances, so a white diffusion filter or dab of concealer could be needed.) Since the eyes and lashes/eyebrows hold their detail portraits can be very flattering with this Tiffen product.

It looks odd by itself as it appears to be glass with a pattern of little black marks all over it, where I more or less expected some type of black screen or grid. Not being an optical engineer and as well as the filter works, I chalk it up to FM.

Also, I prefer to use Tiffen products in general as they have always be good quality, competitively priced, and made in the good ol’ U. S. of A.; what’s not to like?

[Glass] It holds 6-7 cards plus 4-5 notes. Easy to access any card you need while keeping the overall thickness very low. Like the design.
