[Manual Focus] The Mitakon 65mm is possibly the only third party lens designed specifically for a 44x33mm sensor. It is not a full frame lens with a G mount. It is manual focus, so you need to train a bit to focus correctly. My method is:
1. Frame correctly
2. Select the focusing area using the GFX joystick
3. Push the rear wheel to magnify
4. Focus manually
5. Immediately press the shutter without exiting the magnification mode
I am detailing this method as precise focusing is essential when using such a lens wide open... You may otherwise blame the lens, when in reality the issue is the focusing.
The image quality wide open is really good, just very slighly glowy, which may help to get beautiful skin. When closing the diaphragm you get perfect sharpness, but I prefer to use it wide open or almost wide open. There are very few alternatives to this lens, the closest for me being the GF 80mm f1.7.
The lens build quality is good but it feels a bit heavy. As the aperture ring has no clicks, you sometimes turn it by accident. I really like this lens.

[6 x 5.2 x 4"] I studied about this lens for quite some time before finally pulling the trigger.

My gut once again proved me right and I definitely made the right decision. I dont pixel peep and I appreciate character and this lens has tons of it.

The manual focus on the Fuji 50R with peak highlights has proven that this lens is sharp. It is the only lens I use on the 50R and pretty much all I need as an enthusiast photographer.

If your looking for a setup that will give you a unique look with sharpness and character then dont second guess it.

[f/22] I use this with my 50S and I love it. Long throw but gives me precise control of focus. With the AF assist I’m able to nail focus wide open when I slow down. I’m use to shooting film and manual focus lenses so there wasn’t much adjustment for me. It’s perfect for portraits as it i don’t mind being a little softer on the skin anyway.

[28mm] The 65mm is the ~50mm equivalent on the GFX, and as such is a very usable focal length. This is a very well made lens that is contrasty and with character.
The build quality is great, and it feels like a more expensive lens.
My only complaint is the clickless aperture which makes it impossible to change it by feel, and also easy to bump it off where it was supposed to be set.

[1.175 lb] Absolutely love my lens. Currently I have it on my gfx50s. images look insane! lens is heavy but it actually works and the focus ring is very smooth. I shoot weddings with this and just about anything I see. absolutely love this thing.

[FUJIFILM G] I hesitated buying this lens for YEARS, because of the mixed reviews online. In the end, I decided to take a chance because there was no denying the beauty of the images I was seeing.

Now that I finally own it, I wish I had made the purchase sooner.

Pros:
Sharp (for me) at f/1.4.
Gentle and natural fall off from the point of focus.
Smooth bokeh.

Cons:
Heavy.

[37 mm (Front)] I did some research and while most of the reviews lauded this lens on the Fujifilm GFX 50S, some said it was hard to focus and the results were too soft at f/1.8, most said it was good.Well, maybe I got a good copy, but this is easy to focus with a quite long throw and the way it paints colors is exceptional. Mine is a little soft at 1.8 but that is perfect for a portrait lens - the bokeh is so creamy, and the depth of field is just what I wanted. I love this lens - beware, it is one beast weight wise, but so good when you dial it in.

[Manual Focus] I am in love with this lens for the 50R GFX system! It is solid and the aperture and focus ring are well dampened and move like butter!

The image quality at 1.4 is sharp and the colors are superb. The lens has tons of character and reminds me of my old non ai nikkor glass.

Yes it has heft, but you cant expect a light weight lens with all that glass and build quality to be anything but hefty.

I'm 5'4 and 130lbs and have no issues lugging this around on hikes with the 50R.

The screw on lens hood is great as well and I use a urth 72mm nd filter all the time which adds to the photos I make with this combo!

If you want to learn more check out Kyle McDougall's youtube channel, he has a fantastic pro photographer's review with fantastic images to back up this lens.

If your on the fence about getting this lens, just get it! With the 50R GFX body's focus peaking, I have zero issues using the manual focus for sharp images. Ive printed a few images already with this combo and the print quality is fantastic.

I dont see any need to purchase any native fuji g mount lenses since this lens covers all my needs.

[37 mm (Front)] This lens is truly something special. It’s not super sharp wide open, but has this beautiful, dreamy rendering and is honestly sharp enough for most applications. By f2 it’s pretty sharp and it gets better from there. I don’t think I’ll ever sell this lens. Such a unique, beautiful rendering and the warm color tones are very nice. The separation achieved for full body portraits is second to none. Even the Pentax 6x7 lens isn’t quite as good as this. If it’s shallow depth of field you crave this is the lens for you.

[Manual Focus] This lens was very good for the price and takes outstanding photos with a film like look to it. Absolutely worth the price!
