Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I edit my photo and video files with my files on this external SSD? The program will be installed on my macbook16 pro m3pro

A: Yes, you can edit photos and videos off of this Crucial 1TB X10 Pro USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Portable SSD on a 16" MacBook Pro M3 Pro. Please note that with a Mac, this SSD's maximum speeds will be about half the advertised maximum speeds because Macs do not support USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 and will default to USB 3.2 Gen 2 speeds.

Q: 2. Will this device work on an iPad?

A: You can use the Crucial 4TB X10 Pro USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Portable SSD BH #CR4TBX10PRO9 with an iPad.

Q: 3. Can this drive be used to back up iphone photos?

A: The Crucial 1TB X9 Pro USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD (BH #CR1TBX9PRO9) is compatible to back-up USBC based iPhones directly.

Q: 4. Can I plug this into my Fuji X-H2 and it will act as a drive my images are saved to as I shoot? What about video? Thanks.

A: Unfortunately, the Fuji XH2 will not record images or videos to an external drive via USB. It can only record to the internal memory card or via HDMI cable you can record to an external HDMI recorder.

Q: 5. If connected to Thunderbolt 4, would the transfer speed improve?

A: The transfer speeds of a USB drive such as the Glyph Technologies 8TB Blackbox Plus USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 External SSD will not improve when connecting them to a higher-bandwidth port such as Thunderbolt 4. You could think of it as connecting a narrow hose to a wide hose; the amount of water coming out of the narrow hose will be the same, regardless of what it is going into.

Q: 6. What is the difference between the X9 and the X9 Pro?

A: Unlike the Crucial 2TB X9 Pro USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD, the Crucial 2TB X9 USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 External SSD does not support data encryption/password protection, and the X9 Pro also has higher sustained speeds despite both drives having the same top potential data transfer rate.

Q: 7. Can the Crucial X10 Pro be reformatted to Apple's APFS format?

A: Yes, the Crucial 4TB X10 Pro USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Portable SSD can be reformatted to Apple's APFS format.

A: Yes, the Silicon Power 1TB PX10 USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD will be compatible, via Lightning to USB-C adapter, with your iPhone 14 Pro.

Q: 9. I currently own a 12 TB Glyph Drive 7200 --how much faster would this SSD be compared to the one I own?

A: That would depend on the specific model of 12 TB 7200rpm Glyph Drive that you have, but on average, the Glyph Technologies 8TB Blackbox Plus USB 3.1 Type-C External Solid-State Drive should transfer data about twice as fast as a 7200rpm HDD.

Q: 10. Does this have 1 TB or 512 GB of storage? The listing title and spec details don't agree.

A: The Patriot 1TB Transporter USB 3.2 Gen 2 Portable SSD has 1TB of storage.

[0.16 lb] Black Magic: 866 Write, 941 Read. With AJA 882 write, 960 Read.
I down loaded 250gb in one session with no problems.
I am using it on 2020 27 iMac.

[2 TB] I needed a couple of higher capacity SSDs for backup. The price and review from PetaPixel convinced me to buy these. They are amazingly small and light. I first reformatted them for my mac. They seem fast and reliable so far. I always triplex my backups. I have another SSD that I use for this set. I rated them 5 stars, but that's based on my short time using them and their size, weight, and speed for a 2TB SSD.

[0.16 lb] The extremely compact size makes it a great choice not only for the traveller but also for the home user with limited desktop space. Read/Write speeds are very fast - just be sure to use the correct format for your system (Mac/Windows) for optimal performance.

[2 TB] I've had the crucial X6- 4TB for 2 and a half years now with no problems. I use it to store my 230,000 picture Photos library, my 23,000 Lightroom catalog and missl. photos. Usually, it stays at home on my desk, but I've taken it out on trips.
It's getting filled up lately, and the Crucial X9 was on sale, so I ordered one, came the next day. I (optionally) reformatted it for my Mac and loaded up about 1.5 TB of Lightroom and missl. It loaded very quickly, very impressive. (Backing it up to one of my HDs took hours, this took minutes.) Now, with 8TB's of fast SSD storage, I am not thinking about running out of room so soon.
Of course, I'm very cautious about my lifetime collection of photos, and soon I will open up more space on the X6 by eliminating the superceded and duplicate LR catalog that I transferred to the X9.
I have about 10 HDs for backup, from 4 to 14 TB's. I wish they were all SSD's.
Both Crucial SSD's serve as my main Photo Libraries.(Mac SSD internal storage is outrageous.)  I would say the X9 is noticibly faster than the X6 and I really don't notice a difference operating from an external SSD. I just wish my iMac had more USB-C ports for more newer external drives.
I recommend the Crucial, definitely over WD and on a par, if not better than Samsung T7. Maybe a little less money too.

[2 TB] Great price! The CCA was quick and knowledgeable as to what I needed. He recommended this ext HD over another brand I was considering. I was able to do a swift HD backup, and D/L the OS software for a bug fix. It was quick and efficient - nothing short of amazing really.

[Aluminum] The tiny X9 Pro is very fast and remains cold during multiple GBs of photo file transfer. exFAT format for Mac and PC. Sturdy aluminum with rubber base. I find the included cable appropriate and convenient, certainly not a negative. Fast shipping as always.

[Bus Powered] For the last two months, this SSD works for me so well!
I've two locations and I need to carry my RAW photos to do post-processing. This SSD is my storage to carry my photos. I plug it in to USB-C 3.1 and USB-A 3.0, and open photoshop to edit photos directly off the SSD. No speed problem at all! Also, while copying files between this SSD and my main storage harddrive, this SSD never gets hot. It might be around 5 degree C warmer. That's it. This is a very positive sign of durability.
