This Vixen f/6.4 Focal Reducer for VC200Lfrom Vixen f/6.4 Focal Reducer for VC200Lreduces the focal length from its native 1800mm f/9 to 1278mm f/6.4. This faster focal ratio produces brighter and more colorful images, with the shorter exposure times, than imaging with a slower focal ratio. For video astronomy, the faster ratio reduces noise and increases clarity.

Q: 1. Although this is advertised for the Probe lens, it seems like it would work with any EF lens...Right?

A: Correct, the Venus Optics Laowa 0.7x Focal Reducer for Probe Lens (EF to L Mount) can be used to adapt EF lenses to L-mount bodies.

Q: 2. When mounted on a canon cne 18-80 lens on a lumix bs1h camera, Does the quality of the image will weaken becuase the glass ?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 0.7x Focal Reducer for Probe Lens (EF to L Mount) is only meant to mount the Probe Lens from Venus Optics and none other. We cannot guaranty any quality results of mounting another lens onto your desired system with this adapter.

Q: 3. Is this adapter compatible with any other model PL lenses?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 0.7x Focal Reducer for Probe Lens (PL to X Mount) is designed particularly for the Venus Optics Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe Lens (ARRI PL, Cine-Mod Version), and it is not guaranteed the quality and fitment will retain if using third party PL lenses.

Q: 4. Does it work with the periprobe lens?

A: Yes, this adapter will work with EF-Mount PeriProbe lenses.

Q: 5. Is this product designed to only work with the probe lens? The description & the comparability tab say contradict each other.

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 0.7x Focal Reducer for Probe Lens is designed for mounting the PL-mount Laowa probe lens on a Super 35/APS-C L-mount camera body. This does not mean you can't try to use it with other lenses but it has not been tested to do such and there is no compatibility chart for the adapter.

Q: 6. Can this adapter focus to infinity?

A: Yes, the Commlite 0.71x Focal Reducer & Lens Mount Adapter for Canon EF/EF-S Lens to FUJIFILM X-Mount Camera may focus out to infinity.

Q: 7. Can it be used with Sony FE lenses too or just the probe lens?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 0.7x Focal Reducer for Probe Lens (BH #VE07FREF2E) is only designed for use with Laowa's Probe lenses. We would not recommend using it with any other lenses.

Q: 8. What other lenses may work with the focal reducer (PL to RF)?

A: The Venus Optics Laowa 0.7x Focal Reducer for Probe Lens (PL to R Mount) (B&H# VE07FRPL2R) is a highly specialized focal reducer designed to fit and work well only with the Venus Optics Laowa 24mm f/14 Probe Lens for ARRI PL (Cine-Mod Version) (B&H# VE2414PL). While it's possible that you may get it to work to your satisfaction with other lenses, we cannot endorse their use as damage to the optical element in the focal reducer could result. The major concern has to do with an invasive rear element in the PL lens coming in contact with the element in the focal reducer. Moreover, even if one could be sure of the fit, the result may suffer from more softening or chromatic aberration than some customers would consider acceptable. As is often the case, however, you are welcome to try the focal reducer and to return it within 30 days with an RMA authorization and accompanied by all of the original packaging. It would also need to be in the same condition in which it was received. Returns policy details: https://bhpho.to/3utL5n1

    Q: 9. Does the VC200L ship with a 2 speed focuser?

    A: The Vixen Optics VC200L 200mm f/9 Catadioptric Telescope (OTA Only), BH # VIVC200L, ships with a two-speed focuser.

Q: 10. Will this work with my Lunt 152mm ED APO f/8 which has a 3 inch Feather Touch focuser?

A: Yes, the ES 0.7x Reducer should work reasonably well with a 3 inch focuser. There are three options for attaching the reducer to a focuser, a 3 inch adapter and two smaller adapters. The upper left cylinder in the product photo is for a 3 inch focuser. It has a 76mm outside diameter and 74mm ID with female threads. The 3 inch adapter screws on to the bottom (scope side) of the reducer. It appears to be designed to either be inserted into the focuser tube or screwed on, depending on your setup. I use it with a 127mm f/7.5 APO and it covers a full frame (35mm) sensor with sharp stars, but with some vignetting in the corners. Two issues I have with the reducer are 1) the T adpater is standard 42mm, as opposed to 48mm, and so produces more vignetting than is necessary given its 3 inch optics. 2) Given the 55mm T adapter shoulder to sensor plane recommendation, there are no 48mm threads or room for a screw in filter. I just ordered and adapter that will allow for screw in filters on the focuser end of the reducer.Hope this helps.

[0.35 lb] I have many astronomical telescopes and this one has become one of my favorites,! Powerful and very handy to use, easy to balance on the mount, and having crisp clear optics is an important plus! Very fine optics from Vixen in Japan. Awesome product!

[3 x 3 x 2.5"] I have a Explore Scientific 127mm triple refractor which is f/7.5 The 3 field flattern reducer increases my telescope speed by decreasing the f ratio to about a f/5.2 and gives sharp stars to the edge of the field in my photographs. The item works perfectly with my Explore Scientific telescope.

[0.35 lb] I own a Sigma 150mm~600mm telephoto lens with a Canon EF mount and a Fuji X-S10 camera.
The EXIF shows a max of 420mm when set to 600 (420 x 1.5 crop = 630mm) the view is much brighter and the IBIS as well as the lens image stabilization work well and the auto focus was quick to react to change of scenes, in short, the EF mount Sigma behaved like a Fuji lens in all regards.
    The 150mm showed 109mm on EXIF (109 x 1.5 crop = 163.5).

[3 x 3 x 2.5"] B&H shipped this quickly, and it arrived much faster than I anticipated. I haven't yet had a clear night to evaluate this optically, but it appears to be a solid, well-constructed item. It threaded on to my ED100 focuser tube with no problem, and the M48 T-threads attached to my DSLR T-ring easily as well. A side note: the reducer requires 55mm backspacing, and the T-threads are the wide 48mm size not the standard 42mm size, so you will likely need a specific T-ring adapter if using a DSLR. (Adding a M42/M48 adapter to a regular 42mm T-ring will probably put you over the 55mm backspacing.)

[4.6 oz / 131 g] After having little success with the free methods to adjust the autofocus micro adjustment (AFMA) for my Canon 5dmkii, I decided to try FoCal Plus 2.0. It works amazingly well -- in fact for some cameras, like my 5dmkii, once the process is started, it is completely hands-free. Otherwise, you have to adjust the AFMA to what the program tells you during the test as it determines the best setting. Typically, that's 3 or 4 times during the test, I'm told. If you want the best performance from your lenses, invest in this product. The only bummer is that the program doesn't qualify for free shipping. What's up with that?

[4.6 oz / 131 g] This flattener worked. Last weekend I was able to capture an amazing set of subs of M45.

The corners had sharp stars and I was able to keep more of the image out to the edges.

It attached easily to my Evostar 100ed and played nicely to my ASI 1600MM and EFW.
