[Silver / Blue] Just received the Tokina Opera 50mm f/1.4 to use on my D500 as a combination portrait and longer length prime lens. It hasn't disappointed yet, the lens works well with my D500 and it really is sharp wide open, which is what attracted me to this lens. It is heavy for a 50mm prime but no heavier than the 70-300mm Nikon lens I have been using for telephoto shots. B&H service was great too.

[Silver / Blue] In hindsight I wish I was aware of this opera 50 1.4 sooner. I was so underwhelmed with every manufacturers fast 50mm. The tokina marries remarkable sharpness and showstopping character from the replicated vintage pentax recipe. This purchase doesn't come with an irritating request from the manufacturer to calibrate it on a ridiculous dock either. This actually renders the same color and bokeh if not better than my Nikon 85 1.4 g. The only difference is the tokina actually nails the focus every time and is worlds faster. If you've never experienced a professional lens with these features you are truly missing out on an exhilarating and pleasant experience.

[Silver / Blue] I paired this Opera 50mm lens with my venerable Canon 5D Mark III and the images are sharp and crisp. Autofocus is a snap and the colors are clean and accurate. Shooting wide open stays very sharp at the focus points and performs much better than my Canon EF 50mm f/1.2 L lens. At 950 grams, it's not a lightweight lens, but I'll be using it with a tripod most of the time. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the quality and output of this Tokina lens!

[Silver / Blue] I have been looking for a lens that can fully resolve the 45.7 megapixels of my Nikon D850. I previously owned the Nikkor 50mm 1.4. The Nikkor 50mm 1.4 uses older lens technology and can't resolve the 45.7 megapixels of a D850. But this Tokina lens fully resolves the 45.7 megapixels of the Nikon D850 with excellent sharpness! Plus, the Tokina Opera 50mm 1.4 autofocuses correctly out of the box without having to fine tune the AF unlike the Sigma Art (the other lens I was considering). Also, the Tokina Opera is sharp wide open at f1.4. I am not having to stop the lens down to achieve sharp photos unlike my older Nikkor 50mm 1.4. And lastly, the bokeh is on the Opera is awesome!

[Silver / Blue] I purchased this to replace the Nikon 50mm f1.8 that I'd been using over the last several years. I've never really felt the Nikon did justice to the images from my D850 and was looking for something more modern for today's large sensors.
I just came back from a month long trip to Alaska and this was my primary lens as almost all of my images were of my year old grandson.
Have to say I was quite happy with the results. The lens is fast, focuses quickly and the results seem quite sharp to me. It is a heavy beast, especially when paired the the D850, but I never really had any problems hand holding for all my shots.
Another reason I went with this over other choices is I happened to catch a limited sale on B&H for this lens, resulting in a $300 price drop. Hard to beat at that price so it is a keeper.

[Silver / Blue] Using them for Smallrig matte box step ring adapters to be always affixed to the lens. Clean look and stay stuck on without too much fight.

[Silver / Blue] I got this to compliment my Tamron SP 35mm 1.4, as this is basically the 50mm equivalent of that lens. Focus is quick, and surprisingly accurate for a non-native lens. Focus has been MORE accurate than the Tamron, even after I've adjusted it several times. I've used it on both my D810 and Z7ii w/FTZii and focus is consistent between both bodies. Stop reading this and buy it.

[Silver / Blue] It is probably the sharpest EF mount AF lens in the market along with Sigma 50/1.4 art lens, much better than the Canon EF 50mm lenses. The bokeh is great. At 950g it is really heavy for a 50mm/1.4 lens. When adapted to Fuji GFX body this lens can cover the 4433 image circle perfectly and the image quality is excellent even in the corner!

[Silver / Blue] I needed a dust cap for a small telescope that I built. It used a 4.5 tube, which is just about exactly 114mm. These slipped right on, tight fit.

[Silver / Blue] Wonderful lens. Built like a tank. Beautiful images with accurate colors. No distortion. It is heavy but there is a lot of glass inside.
