The NiSi W-82D Camera Positioning Bracket for DSLR Camerasfrom NiSi W-82D Camera Positioning Bracket for DSLR Camerasis a rotating collar that attaches to select DSLR camera bodies, allowing the camera and lens to easily rotate between portrait and landscape orientation without having to remove them from the tripod head. This feature is particularly useful for landscape photographers, real estate photographers, and studio portrait photographers who need to quickly change their camera's orientation.

Unlike traditional L-brackets, the Wizard W-82D is designed to work seamlessly with cameras that have fully articulating screens, allowing the screen to be positioned without any compromise. When positioned at 180 degrees, it can also be used for low-angle or macro shooting. The Wizard W-82D features tactile, haptic indicators at 0-, 90-, and 180-degrees to ensure that camera alignment is always maintained. A large, knurled locking knob makes it easy to secure the camera in position. Additionally, the camera is mounted with the sensor positioned in the center of the lens ring, ensuring that the center point of the image is always maintained. The Wizard W-82D features a rubber ring on the inside to ensure the finish of lens barrels are always protected. The outer diameter of the lens mount must be smaller than the inner diameter of the lens ring, lenses with an outer mount diameter larger than 82mm cannot be mounted. To check lens compatibility, measure around the lens near the lens mount to ensure it's less than 82mm.

The Wizard W-82D is constructed from aircraft-grade aluminum alloy, making it both rugged and lightweight. The mounting foot is Arca-Swiss compatible, providing wide-range compatibility with most tripod heads and clamps. It also features a 1/4"-20 thread mount so any quick release plate can be attached, making it compatible with almost every tripod. The base of the camera mounting plate stores a magnetically mounted Allen wrench for securely attaching the 1/4"-20 screw to the camera body.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. May I use this matte box with the Zunow WCX-80 wide angle lens on a Sony FDR AX-100 camera with no vignetting? Thanks

A: This combination is unknown and the answer would only come from testing the components together. Having said that, we feel that the camera with its lens at the widest mm setting plus wearing the Zunow most likely will cause vignetting with the matte box. The vignetting should go away if you zoom in slightly.

Q: 2. Can it fit on DSLR's?

A: Hi JoseIt depends on the lens / sensor combination you chose to use. My configuration works just fine; Sigma 17-50 2.8 zoom on Canon 60D (APC sensor) Wider lenses will produce vignetting. Beware that the weight of the Mattebox can stress the lens if it is not sturdy enough - consider buying railmount? (zoom lenses often protrude when in use)

Q: 3. Does this come with mounts to the cage rig?

A: The Cavision 3x3" Matte Box is a clamp on matte box, which clamps onto your lens directly, with or without a rig.

Q: 4. Which model of the Nisi Wizard can work with the OM-1?

A: The NiSi Wizard W-72 Camera Positioning Bracket is compatible with the OM SYSTEM OM-1 Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 5. Does this work with Sony a6700

A: Yes, the JOBY Vert Vertical L-Bracket for DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras will work with the Sony a6700 camera. Note, it is not made for it. So, some ports on the camera will be covered.

Q: 6. Will de W-73 fit the Nikon Z8?

A: At this time the NiSi Wizard W-73 Camera Positioning Bracket for Select Mirrorless Cameras has not been tested by Nisi as working with the Z8. It works with the z5, 6, z6 ii, z7 and z7ii. Chances are it will fit but the Z8 body is different.

Q: 7. Will it fit the Sony A7 Model IV?

A: Yes, Nisi list the Sony A7 IV as compatible with the Nisi Wizard W-63 Camera Positioning Bracket for Select Sony Mirrorless Cameras.

Q: 8. Can fit Cokin P Series filters (86mm)?

A: Is Cokin P filter 84mm in width instead of 86mm? cokin "P" filters fit loosely in filter stage slots only without using a filter tray. You can use filter tray locks on the side of the matte box to hold it in place.

Q: 9. Does it work for sony a7m3?

A: Yes NiSi NLP-C Adjustable L-Bracket for Select Canon, FUJIFILM, Nikon, and Sony Cameras is compatible with the Sony A7iii.

Q: 10. I have a bmpcc and Veydra lenses. They are 77mm. Will this matte box work with those?

A: The Veydra has a 77mm lens diameter or a 80mm diameter with the hood. Since the Cavision matte box can accommodate 50mm-80mm diameters with the inculded flexibel Donut Ring, you are good to go.

[Aluminum] Ok first off, B&H kinda vets their stuff so I wasn't heistatant to take a chance on this matt box. Upon opening I was surprised for I was expecting a product of way lesser quality. All this thing needs to do is hold filters and block a direct hit from the sun from hitting the lens. I trust that it can do just that and for under a hundred bucks!

Also i was surprised at it's ample tooling making it possible to remove the top and side flags if needed, which will be a plus for me for I'm trying to build my rig as light as possible for handheld / gimbal use.

I didn't want to spend 500-700 on something like PolarPro base kit. I compared weights between their Base Camp and this thing here with the top flag and a filter. The Cavision came in at about 40grams heavier which is about the same weight as two 77mm plastic Canon lens caps. At this price i'll buy two and keep a spare.

This thing has dual filter stages one of which rotates and the holders features a compression spring tab based mech to hold them snug. I mean com'on!!

And I never usually write reviews on stuff because really, who has the time?

[Arca-Type] 4x4 matte boxes are fine when you're shooting with the right sized camera but I'm using DSLR's a lot now and a full sized matte box looks stupid! The Cavision is the perfect size - the rig looks balanced. The matte box is light and the build quality is fine - it may not stand up to years of commercial work but it's better than a number of other larger matte boxes out there that cost more.

[0.455 lb] This is a game changer for me -- I can switch from portrait-mode to landscape-mode in a matter of seconds. I love this simple piece of gear.

[Arca-Type] Oredered and received bracket within three business days. Bracket was just as advertised and the levels are an extra added bonus. This was a great value for the modest price. The construction is solid, yet light (almost no detectable added weight. Snaps onto either my monopod, or tripod with ease. Highly recommended

[0.455 lb] I've seen a few of these around and figured I'd try one. This is a super quick way to change the orientation of the camera without removing it from the mount. I've come to love the bracket for landscape work. Its solid, well made, and pretty easy to set up as long as you read the directions.

[Arca-Type] This fits perfectly on the Hasselblad X2D 100c, leaving room of battery removal. The mounting screw is offset toward the front of the camera to match the position on the camera. It is well made and the L-bracket side can be removed if you need to access the side ports. RRS does not yet make a bracket for this camera, but when they do it will cost 5 times as much as this one.

[0.455 lb] don't expect the build quality of a titla or redrock. its small, cute and plastic. it even arrived missing a few screws. But i can tell you this. it works with the tokina 11-16 @ 11mm on a metabones speed booster and NO VIGNETTING. it was tested on a gh4 - no vignetting in 4k mode and slight vignetting in 1080p mode. so on a gh3 or gh4 in 1080p you would need to be at 13mm. Still I've yet to see another matte box that won't vignette at with that setup. all in all I'm impressed with the little guy.

[Aluminum] I won’t say that the other reviewer is wrong, cause he very well could have gotten a bad one, but this PL adapter fits my 6k full frame perfectly. Extremely snug fit with minimal to no wiggle. Have to really pull at it to get wiggle. My Blazar Remus PL’s fit extremely well and snug on the adapter end (as they should since it locks). All in all it’s a perfect adapter for me.

[0.455 lb] Only thing I've found to make the switch from Landscape to Portrait in a snap. It has great mounting placement for other accessories too.

[Arca-Type] Here is a real matte box. The right size and weight for small modern cameras. There are, to be fair, a couple of small annoyances, but they are easily overcome with some minor engineering. Considering that no two camera systems are identical, Cavision has done a great job. Two filter slots are enough (one rotates), the flags are fine and work well. Donuts would be good, but can be made; the nun's knickers are OK for most lenses. I had used this on a shoot, loved it, bought one...and will by another...
