A: Yes it has a strong smell due to the fact that it is made of Polyethylene. Out of the box the smell will be fairly strong but it will diminish over time once you take it out of the packaging and use it in open spaces. If the smell is particularly bothersome take some time to store it in a ventilated space before using it.

A: There are three orange gels included in the set but they are not accurate CTO gels. I tested them with a color temperature meter and compared the readings with Rosco gels I have for my studio lights and I found them to be considerably warmer than even the Full CTO Rosco gels. For true color accuracy, I would recommend not using the included gels just cut down some Rosco (or other brand) color correction gels.
