Ideal for near and deep-sky observation, Celestron PowerSeeker 127EQ Telescope with Solar Filter Kitfeatures a respectable focal length and a large, parabolic mirror that produces detailed images of the moon, clear views of the planets, and the ability to resolve bright distant objects such as nebulae and galaxies. The scope is outfitted with a 1.25" rack-and-pinion focuser and two eyepieces to get new users started, and a 3x Barlow lens that effectively triples the magnification of any eyepiece.

The included manual equatorial mount features slow-motion control cables with large knobs to make it easy to track objects even when wearing gloves, while also minimizing vibrations caused by handling the mount with your hands; and clearly visible indicators on the Right Ascension and Declination axes. An adjustable-height aluminum tripod rounds out the rig with a tray for accessories such as eyepieces, filters, and lights.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. My powerseeker 127 eq does not come with a latitude lock. What can I do?

A: We are sorry to hear you were missing a latitude locking component. Please contact Celestron Technical Support, so a representative can assist you in getting a replacement part. Their email address is: mail@celestronsupport.com

Q: 2. Will the focal point when connected to my Sony E-mount full frame camera be 1000 mm?

A: Since you will be attaching the camera through the eyepiece port it will not change the focal point.

Q: 3. How can I buy this?

A: Currently B&H is not accepting any7 preorders on the Celestron AstroMaster 114EQ 114mm f/8.8 Reflector Telescope BH #CEAM114EQ • MFR #31042

Q: 4. Does this telescope have a attachment for cell phones to take pictures?

A: You can purchase a Smartphone Adapter as an Accessory. If you click on "Accessories", then scroll down to "Smartphone Adapters" you will see all the compatible Adapters for this Scope.

Q: 5. Is this easy to setup? I have never worked with a telescope before and am not much of a camera person.

A: In my opinion (as an amateur), it is not easy to set up. You have to first collimate it before you can see anything, and that requires taking the thing apart a little. We have someone from the museum teaching us how to use it or we likely wouldnt be able to figure it out ourselves. Our telescope tutor says it really is a great beginner telescope so if you can find someone who knows what they are doing then it shouldnt be too terrible.

Q: 6. What are the dimensions of the box/packing?

A: The manufacturer's original box dimensions are Ln: 30.50 Wd: 17.00 Ht: 8.60.

Q: 7. What can i see with this?, my other telescope is a 40$ scope and i can barely focus on the moon with it. is this able to view stars easy with faint village sized community lights?

A: So it really depends on your sky and the clarity. This is a great scope for the price point. I would recommend not using this where there are street lights. The image will be fuzzy, and distorted.

Q: 8. what kind of things can i see with this, without needed to buy any extras?

A: Bottom line is buy this set! The telescope, tripod, equatorial mount, software and rd flashlight is worth EVERY penny. To be honest, you'll have to buy additional eyepieces. The 4mm eyepiece is not useful with this telescope because of the aperture and focal length. I suggest buying a quality zoom eyepiece (one piece but includes five or six different magnification stops) and a shorty 2x Barlow. With these, you can see Jupiter and its striated atmosphere AND several of its moons (the number of visible moons depends on the time of year. I've seen Jupiter and four of its moons ibn the same field of view). You can see Mars and its varying shades of brownish red. You can see Saturn and its rings. With the 2x Barlow, you can see the space between the planet and its rings!Observing the moon with the eyepiece I've suggested will absolutely knock your socks off! In fact, observing the moon from half to full is so bright you may want to consider buying a moon filter. It's not necessary but you'll understand once you've marveled at the full moon! You may even be able to observe nebulae, galaxies and clusters. I've had my telescope, the same one you're considering, since early June and because of where I live and the time of year, I haven't been able to view any of those yet.The day my telescope arrived and using only the contents on the box, I spent hours looking at the moon. I lost track of time because I was mesmerized. At about 2am, my wife came outside and told me I had to quiet down (I was oohing and ahhing, pretty loudly I'm told!) I was so taken, I had several telescope parties over the summer, inviting every friend who expressed an interest. EVERY person that looked through the eyepiece voiced their amazement at what they were observing. The loudest oohs and ahs came from looking at Saturn and the moon. I must disclose that for the parties i was using my zoom eyepiece and the 2x shorty Barlow. What I'm saying is BUY IT! It's a fantastic telescope for beginners and intermediates.Enjoy!

Q: 9. Can this scope be used with a camera?

A: The PowerSeeker 80AZ is best used with a smartphone camera and can be easily attached and aligned using Celestron's Basic-Smartphone Adapter: https://www.celestron.com/products/basic-smartphone-adapter-1-25

Q: 10. Can this telescope be used with a DSLR for astrophotography?

A: Theoretically yes. You would need parts that don't come with the telescope, like some kind of lens adapter. Also a kit to motorize the mount, if you're doing any kind of long exposure. It does come with a manual that offers tips for that sort of thing.

[Yes] My husband just recently started getting interested in Astronomy, he loves it already. Pretty simple to use and set up. We were looking at Jupiter and 3 of it's moons last night, super cool!

[f/7.9] Easy to put together, can't wait to use it this weekend. Very stable tripod I will just have to get use to the fine settings of the scope but that will come with time.

[0.965"] I have NEVER owned nor used a telescope before the celestron powerseeker 127eq. I am speechless.... throw all the bad reviews and complaints OUT THE WINDOW! Take your time during setup reading the manuel NOT the quick set up and you're worry free. The finderscope mount SHOULD be curved to fit the bigger tubes of the 114 and 127 ( its mass produced to fit the 60-127). Dispite this fact mine is pretty much SPOT ON! I just located the moon and centered it in the eyepiece then tweeked the finderscope a few times to center it up. DONT put the caps back on. Once u line the finderscope up, DONT TOUCH IT and it'll work like a champ. As for the eyepieces... A++ there as well. Maybe I got lucky or living away from light pollution helps but I've had NO problems with getting objects to focus with or without the barlow. You have to remember that the maximum useful magnification is 300. But I'll say again, ALL THE EYEPIECES EVEN WITH THE BARLOW HAD EXCELLENT CLARITY! The only two cons I see are the shakiness of the tripod while focusing or tracking (I'm sure this is common, As I mentioned earlier I've never stargazed through a telescope before). Lowering the tripod completely helps to alleviate some of this. My MAJOR complaint is that all the planets weren't aligned so I didn't have to wait to see them all. A telescope for the beginner.. I THINK NOT!! Use the Celestron powerseeker 127 and become a PRO! And B&H Photo has the BEST DEAL ANYWHERE with price AND added extras for the 127eq. YOU GUYS ARE AWESOME!!

[Rack-and-Pinion] This is exactly what is advertised. I almost couldn't believe the price, but I've used this to view planets and can make out the moons of Jupiter and Saturn's rings! The moon also looks stunning!! If you're looking for a good intro telescope or even if you're an amateur looking for a less expensive option that still has great quality, I would highly recommend this telescope.

[1000 mm] Excellent first reflector scope. Plenty of power and easy to track. Only complaint is storage, but a small duffel bag can be improvised.
