Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Why are there no photos of the interior of the bag?

A: Portabrace provides all photos of their products exclusively to B&H for display purposes. Unfortunately on the Portabrace Backpack for Insta360 Pro VR Camera, Portabrace has not provided interior images for this product. For this product, we the interior should be similar to the PortaBrace Rigid-Frame Backpack for Canon C100: https://bhpho.to/3L0hDhk or the PortaBrace Backpack for Universal DSLR Set-Ups (Black): https://bhpho.to/3SN2K3X

Q: 2. Would I be able to fit ALL of my Nikon D3200 camera body, 18-55mm lens, 55-200mm lens, 70-300mm lens and a 35mm lens and still have room for other little things like the charger, phone, wallet, basic necessities?

A: The Gear S17 has been an excellent bag for me so far. I purchased it for a three-week trip to Europe (went last month to several destinations along the Danube, then on to Venice) and it's holding up extremely well. I carried a Nikon 7000 with 18--105 mm and 11--16 mm lenses, plus phone, charger, an extra battery and several extra memory cards. The upper compartment easily held my LLBean hooded raincoat and a light-weight sweatshirt.I did not carry external flash equipment on the trip, but if I did, I would have used the upper compartment for it instead of for the foul-weather gear.Having said all that, you could probably fit all the gear you mentioned in the bag by making use of the upper compartment with some added padding. But I think you're carrying too much glass. I'd leave your 35mm and 55-200mm lenses behind, as they seem unnecessary/redundant for travel (try to keep the weight down).

Q: 3. Can we get pics for this? I'd like to see interior, dividers, compartments, loaded with gear, etc.

A: Unfortunately, neither B&H nor Porta Brace have supplied such images. If you Google Image search, there is one that shows the main compartment divided into three parts with a Sony camcorder in it.

Q: 4. Anyway to fit a 15 inch laptop into this?

A: Unfortunately no, the PortaBrace BK-ALPHAA99 Camera Hive Backpack for Sony Alpha a99 only has tablet compartment and it is not large enough for a laptop.

Q: 5. Would an X-T4 with the 100-400mm lens attached fit?

A: Yes, we have tested and verified that the X-T4 with the 100-400mm lens attached will fit with the USA Gear S17 backpack.

Q: 6. Can someone tell me how deep the camera pockets are? The last bag I tried was too deep for my Pentax K50.

A: i can fit my nikon 14-24mm in its bag plus 2 x 12 reflectors in the upper pocket and on the one below my nikon D750 mount wth nikon 70-300mm plus nikon 105mm 2.8 macro above and nikon SB 700 Af kit with teleconverter 20 Elll below i still miss some place for my 50mm 1.4 but the goal buying a small bag was to carry light weight with just what i need

Q: 7. Is the waist belt removable?

A: The straps can not be removed.

Q: 8. Is there a photo of the inside to see how the star adventurer will fit in?

A: There are photos of the inside on the PortaBrace website: https://www.portabrace.com/product-page/bk-sksappv2

Q: 9. Can either strap be used as the sling strap or is only one strap designated for the sling?

A: Yes, either strap can be uses as a sling strap on the USA GEAR S17 DSLR Camera Backpack.

Q: 10. MacBook

A: This Backpack would not ave a pocket for the Macbook.

[Zipper] I got this bag because I travel on the plane on occasion, and I wanted to carry my Sony HXR-NX5U and 15 MacBook Pro in one bag. It works great. In addition to the camera and computer, I carry extra batteries, power, a couple of wireless lavs, a shotgun mic, and an external portal hard disk. I'm average height at 150 lbs, and it's well balanced on my back, comfortable to walk with it on.I have also traveled with it on buses and light rail to some locations, and it works well. Only thing I'd say is, unless you have a very lightweight tripod, carry that separately. Also, use separators to make partitions for the main compartment. It'll be worth it to make a tight fit for the camera and the space becomes more efficient.

[Yes] I have three of these bags I wear as a shoulder bag. My z8 or z9 drops in with the 400mm lens attached.
When it’s time to shoot the top unziipps and I turn the camera on as I raise to shoot.
It’s very fast and easy with only seconds to shooting. With Z8 Z9 or other brand camera
With the top zipped the rig is totally protected even in a fall!
Enjoy

[Universal] Amazing case. Just the right size, holds a serious camera (Red One) with some lenses, batteries, everything else you need. Even a tripod case on the side that will really hold a huge tripod. It works as a backpack, and it works just as well when you use it as a hand-carry case. Big pockets, PortaBrace quality that feels like military grade. Folds all the way open quickly with fast access to everything I need. Easy to pack it all in quickly too, without banging gear together. It comes with an interior case light! And one CS-B9 Stuff Sack. I bought three more of these and am glad I did. They hold lenses, a 7 video monitor, and don't take up significant extra space. Fast, strong, protective, and easy.

[Black] What else could one ask for? It stores all the essentials for videography, and then some. Heck this is what I managed to put in.... - NX5 camcorder - 3 batteries - battery chargers - wireless kit - shotgun mic - handheld mic - cables - laptop - external hard disk - laptop power supplies - headphones - LED lights - the list goes on... Sad to say, after purchasing this Porta Brace, I do not need to purchase any of their bags anymore, as I know this will outlast even the camera equipment inside it. And all fit into the bag. Perfect for a long assignment. Pricey? Yes. But I'd rather pay top dollar for this, than to fork out cheap dollars many times over for a bag with less functionality. Only gripe is that some airports will not allow in on board. But you can always point out that guitars are allowed on board, so why not this? It has worked for me several times.

[Zipper] We are putting digitial camera, lens, video cameras, cords, extra batteries, tripods to Take & grab when we need to run and take photos. Everything we need is in 1 bag! Even have room for pens and paper.... Would purchase this bag again.

[Universal] I'm using the backpack case for shooting in the mountains and away from traffic infrastructure. It holds what it promises. You can transport cameras, laptop, tripod (head and legs). I can recommend it.

[Yes] Porta-Brace produces are first rate, and the Zoom F8 bag is no exception. There may be better choices, depending on your application. The Z8 case is ideal if you have multiple wireless mics in the side pocket, and need a shoulder-ready, run-and-gun kit. There are sleeves on each side with access to the XLR ports, but it takes a flashlight and steady hand to connect wired mics. There is no tight cover, per se, but a flexible, clear dome protects the contents from drips, while allowing access to the controls. In my case, I found a Porta-Brace CAR-1 or CAR-2 is a better fit. The CAR cases come with a long partition and several lateral partitions. The Zoom F7 can go in one section, and be protected with headphones, microphones and a power supply in other sections. Everything is readily accessible through a zippered top flap.
