A: You have your radio set to voice activate or VOX. To turn this setting off please complete the following: 1. Press/release the menu key (3) times.2. VOX will begin to blink in the upper left corner.3. A number between 1-9 will appear to the right of the channel.4. Press the UP or DOWN arrow until ( OF) appears.5. Press the PTT button twice. A: I have used these radios for some time now. I have ordered and different models of the Midland GXT radios. I always carry and use the AA batteries as backup and never have had a problem in doing so. It is a tight fit which in my opinion is good, I don't have to worry about a rattle.
