  • The multi-pile faux fur consists of 3 different lengths of fur to slow the wind down gradually and creates a dense layer at the base, which acts as a barrier against wind, allowing you to capture clean audio in very windy conditions.

  • Using the highest quality materials, The Fur Wind Jacket is designed to withstand rigorous use in the most demanding of recording environments for many years.
  • The outer layer uses super-soft strands of faux fur, while the inner layer of fabric is made using a non-abrasive, open material that's also acoustically transparent.
  • This provides you with optimal wind protection, while retaining as much of the natural frequency response of your microphone as possible.

  • The Fur Wind Jacket seamlessly integrates with your Pianissimo windshield basket. Its tailored design ensures a perfect fit, guaranteeing optimal wind protection without hindering the functionality or performance of your existing equipment.
  • This model features a bespoke and secure attachment mechanism, allowing for quick and easy installation onto your Pianissimo windshield system.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with Rode VideoMic Pro Plus?

A: No.According to Rode's website this is designed to work with the Rode VideoMic Pro. Not the Pro + (or Plus) unit. The Rode website does not have a Rode compatible deadcat for the Pro Plus unit.

Q: 2. will this work on a shure sm58?

A: No it will not. But this will: K-Tek KR-50-70 Fur Windsock for Ball-Type Handheld Microphones B&H # KTKR5070: https://bhpho.to/2UdrcNK

Q: 3. Does this fit over the foam or is it used in place of the foam?

A: The Deadcat GO is designed to fit over the existing foam windshield.

Q: 4. Will this work with the AT4053B?

A: Yes, the Bubblebee Industries Windkiller Long Fur Slip-On Wind Protector for 18 to 24mm Mics is compatible for use with the Audio-Technica AT4053b Hypercardioid Condenser Microphone.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with the Rode i-XY?

A: Hello Angus, if you also get the WS4 foam windscreen it should work. The Dead Kitten is only the fur, so you would need to also get the foam.

Q: 6. Does this wind shield also provide some degree of pop filter like filter effect?

A: I'm sure it would function that way to some degree, but you typically wouldn't use a shotgun mic close enough for plosives to be an issue.

Q: 7. will this fit a shure sm58 ?

A: No, the Rode Dead Kitten Wind Shield is too large for the SM58. The outer diameter of the wind shield is 3.2" and the SM58 has a 1-5/8" diameter. As an option for the SM58, you can use the Rycote Mini Windjammer for M58, SM58, and MCE82 (B&H # RYMWSM), the K-Tek KR-50-70 Fur Windsock for Ball-Type Handheld Microphones (B&H # KTKR5070), or the Remote Audio Fat-Cat - Universal Outdoor Windscreen for Handheld Microphones and Short Boom Microphones (B&H # REFATCAT).

Q: 8. I've heard of some issues regarding wind when using this on the video mic go. I was wondering if anyone had practical experience with it in things such as wildlife photography or hiking. Specifically, I was wondering if the deadcat helps when it comes to the wind, and if it effects sounds such as birds chirping, or distant animal noises?

A: A deadcat for the Vieo Mic Go is absolutely necessary when outside in even slightly brezzy enviornments. It will help in reducing or stopping wind noise. It is designed to be "acoustically neutral" meaning it will not color or change the sound at all.

Q: 9. Could this be completely wrapped around a Tascam DR-40?

A: Unfortunately not. The opening on the Rode DEADCAT VMPR is too small to fit around the Tascam Dr-40. For heavy wind protection, please consider B&H # TAWS11.

Q: 10. I lost the foam shield that came with the Rode VMGO Video Mic GO Lightweight On-Camera Microphone. What can I get as a replacement? Foam shield, dead cat, whatever fits.

A: Hi, yes this is a replacement for the original foam supplied with the VM GO, and a much better windshield option for recording outdoors. Hope that helps!

[Blue] This deadcat makes a significant difference when you're recording audio outside. It goes on easily and fits the Rode VideoMic Pro perfectly. You may need to take it off when changing the battery, but it's not an inconvenience. You also still have access to back controls, so the deadcat doesn't hinder those functions.

[1] I live in a VERY windy area. It makes recording outside VERY difficult. I recently used this when I SHOULD NOT have been outside (Southern California high winds) and I just figured the clips were going to be useless because of the wind. But it really knocked out the wind noise (sure you can still hear it BUT you could hear me). So this coupled with a Deity V-Mic D3 worked VERY well! This was all attached to a GH5.

[1] What else can be said? It does what it's supposed to. Don't think it can really be done any better or any different. I'm pretty sure any other company would make this type of thing exactly the same.

[Faux Fur] I have watched too many videos online that have that irritating sound of wind buffeting the mic. I own 3 Rode mics and they are always wearing their DeadCats (or DeadKitten in the case of my stereo mic) whether I'm outside or inside. It doesn't seem to affect the sound negatively or impede the dB levels from far away.

[1] This is outstanding at cutting down wind noise! I have found it invaluable when you are in a situation that requires an additional wind screen beyond what is available on the VMP.

[1] The UPS driver arrived at my door with this package, and I smiled and said Do you know anything about quantum physics and the Shrödinger's Cat hypothesis? He told me he took a physics class at university and was familiar with the experiment, and asked why I brought it up. I told him the box he was holding was that very quantum experiment, but I could predict with 100% accuracy the state of the contents of the box *before* observing them (which would collapse their quantum state). He was surprised I claimed I could make a prediction with such confidence when my odds were only ever going to be 50/50, so I grabbed a Sharpie and wrote on the top of the box DEAD CAT, and began to open the box in front of him. When I reached inside and withdrew and showed him the Røde wind muff, he told me I had made his year... and physics once again proved itself to be downright hilarious.

All joking aside, this thing is perfect on my Videomic Pro. It seemed a bit big at first, but then I figured out how to wrap it around the controls at the back of the mic. Now I just need to find some wind to properly test its acoustic performance!

[Faux Fur] Other than it's a little hard to pull over the end of the mic I'm very happy with it. Works quite well to combat wind noise.
