Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this the best choice to connect the line out from the Zoom H3-VR to the XLR input of the Zoom F8nPro? Is there a best cable your recommend?

A: Instead of using the Rode VXLR Adapter, you can use a single cable with the appropriate connectors to send the output from the Zoom H3-VR Audio Recorder into the XLR inputs on the Zoom F8n Pro Field Recorder. Use a cable like the Kopul Stereo Right-Angle 1/8" Male Mini-Jack to XLR Male Cable - 6' (B&H # KORSMXM06) for connection to a single input or the Hosa Technology Pro Stereo Breakout Cable - 3.5mm Stereo Mini to Dual 3-Pin XLR Male - 6' (B&H # HOHMX006Y) for connection to dual inputs.

Q: 2. I need to connect a Rode Newsshooter receiver to a mixer input. Is this my solution?

A: Yes, the RODE VXLR 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter would be a good solution for connecting the mono output of a wireless receiver to a mixer's XLR input.

Q: 3. Will this work to conect a Hollyland lark max into a Zoom Podtrak?

A: The RODE VXLR 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter can be used to connect a wireless receiver, such as the Hollyland Lark Max, to the XLR input of an audio recorder. However, the audio signal passed through the adapter can only be mono.

Q: 4. Will this work with the Rode VideoMic NTG?

A: Yes, it will. Keep in mind that the VideoMic NTG operates either via usb bus power or the internal battery, not phantom, so, you will use this adapter with the phantom power on the camera or recorder off, and make sure the mic has a full charge.

Q: 5. Will this work with the Shure VP83? I believe the Shure is mono...

A: Yes the Rode VXLR - Mono Mini-Jack to XLR Converter will work with the mono Shure VP83.

Q: 6. Will this adapter work from the rodelink wireless to Sony FS5 XLR?

A: While I do not own the FS5, the audio inputs on your camera are XLR at mic and line level. The Rode Link outputs to 1/8 jack and will connect to your camera via this adapter perfectly using the supplied (Rode) 1/8 short cable.

Q: 7. Can I use this adapter paired with:(BH #MOG353515) to send audio from a Zoom F4(3.5mm/sub out) to a camera's XLR?

A: You could use the RODE VXLR 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter to connect a 3.5mm line output to a camera's XLR input, although the signal will be mono and it will come in hot due to being a line signal instead of mic level.

Q: 8. What adapters would be required to use the Rode Video Mic Pro (stereo) with a Tascam DR-40 and not go to mono?

A: Why not just connect 2 XLR ports on the mic to the 2 XLR ports on the recorder using simple XLR-XLR cables? Am I missing something?

Q: 9. Will my Sennheiser wireless lav mic which has the locking ring work with this adapter?

A: No, this adapter will not work with a lav mic that has a locking ring. It will not connect properly.

Q: 10. Will this work to connect the Rode Filmmaker Kit to the Tascam DR-70D? I have tried several stereo cables, but it seems to only work with mono.

A: The xlr inputs on the tascam dr70d are mono inputs. the only stereo input is the 1/8in jack.

[Neutrik] Over the years, Whirlwind products have proved their sustainability over and over. One of the primary reasons I chose to order the Whirlwind Medusa snake was because of the great numbering system used on the XLR ends. When changing channel patches in our main snake system, the Whirlwind ends are quick to identify which channel is which.

[24 AWG] I took a gamble on ordering this snake because it was exactly what I needed. The gamble paid off, and we've been using this snake for over a year now with no issues. It feels solidly built, and has clear number labels on each connector. The order time was quite long, but aside from that I've had no issues.

[24 AWG] COVID and Social Separation complicates recording by requiring more microphones. I have a digital stage box which I often share with a front-of-house board while recording. A couple of these fanout snakes with XLRM or XLRF to TRS ends allows me to give a split feed to FOH, or take a pre-fader feed from them. 10 feet is usually ample for that task. A 20' XLR-XLR snake can take the place of a stage box when I don't need much extension, and is much easier to coil and carry.

[24 AWG] Use this snake to hook up the wireless mic rack to my sound board. Quite useful and with good build quality.

[Analog] I was interested in the possible sound quality difference between this 50' cable and a really short one (3 to 18). I did a test recording in stereo with the left channel using my really short one (Kopul Coiled 3-Pin XLR-M to Angled 3-Pin XLR-F Cable (3 to 18)) and the right channel using this 50' cable coiled on the floor. I kept mics and recorder exactly the same for the experiment and rotated my setup in the room halfway through in case there was one side of the room that was better than another.

By ear I can detect no difference between the two sides in the recording. Both had no discernible hiss when recording a vocalist.

Fantastic!!

[Analog] If you use stereo microphone pairs (XY or ORTF), you need cable sets like this. Easier to set up, easier to strike and roll up, and less obtrusive hanging on a stand.

[24 AWG] Just hooked it up and so far is functioning well. The shorter length is just what I needed. In fact it could have been shorter but it worked out just fine. Love the color coded wires. Great for the price too.
