Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I am planning to stream church service on Facebook using iPad. How do I connect it to the out of the church mixer?

A: Use a line out and run into the input of the unit. Be sure to moderate the signal (don't make it too hot from the mixer). We run a similar setup into a cheaper audio amp with power (neewer super compact ~ $20.00) and it works well. We want something with Plugin power vs battery for normal services. Looking at this unit for mobile church events.

Q: 2. Is the bottom mount 1/4-20 ?

A: Yes, the SmartRig+ does provide a 1/4"-20 threaded mounting point on the bottom to attach to a tripod, mic stand, camera, or other device.

Q: 3. My mic is a Stereo XLR condenser mic that requires phantom power to work, so this is the adapter that will allow it to record with my macbook?

A: This cable blocks phantom power so it will not work for your application. Your best solution would be an audio interface.

Q: 4. What app do I need on my iPhone with this? Does it interface with GarageBand?

A: The Saramonic SmartRig+ can be used with GarageBand or any recording app that is compatible with your iPhone. The SmartRig+ is simply an audio interface that provides a way to connect an instrument or microphone with your iPhone.

Q: 5. Does the headphone out need a cell phone app or does it work without a cell phone?

A: Per Saramonic's manual, the output on this is for audio from the phone only. Most audio recording apps support monitoring, but many video recording apps do not. http://www.saramonic.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/SmartRig-user-manual.pdf For video, I would recommend considering filmic pro.

Q: 6. Could this be used to record directly from a mixer's XLR out to an iPhone or iPad?

A: Yes. That is the purpose of this cable.

Q: 7. Output TRRS. How to adjust TRRS output to TRS camera input? Thanks

A: There is a switch on the front. Smartphones and Tablets (looks like a smartphone) and Cameras. Switch to Smartphones and Tablets for TRRS, switch to Cameras for TRS.

Q: 8. Is hdphn out amplified at all? ? Can it monitor audio from the mic on a camera with no headphone out?

A: Yes, the Saramonic SmartRig+ 2-Channel XLR Microphone Audio Mixer features an amplified headphone output which can be used to monitor audio in real time.

Q: 9. How long is battery life with this unit?

A: The battery life on the Saramonic SmartRig+ varies greatly, and is heavily dependent on the devices being plugged into it. You can get anything from a couple of hours to even 20+. Microphones (dynamics, ribbons, condensers, wireless) have different needs and will therefore draw different amounts of power. It is best to be prepared with extra 9v batteries should the need for one arises.

Q: 10. I want to record audio and video into my iPhone 5. can this product connect from the XLR output of a wireless lav into the iphone?

A: Yes, you may plug your LAV into the XLR port and the 1/8th inch into your iPhone and your headphones into the 1/8 inch port.

[24 AWG] I needed a proper way to convert and feed a pro level XLR audio out of a powered portable PA speaker / mixer main line out to a RCA input of my assistive listening transmitter in a Church for my hard of hearing folks that for some reason only has a RCA input jack.
I never had any luck with those simple adapters or a cable with a XLR on one end and a RCA on the other! To do it right I needed to not only convert the jacks but also convert the impedance. This is a quality very well built product featuring top rated Neutrik brand RCA and XLR jacks in a nice aluminum enclosure and an impedance matching transformer that allowed me to properly convert the signal. Yes, this is more expensive than the other simple adapters but I wanted pro results and pro results is what I got.
Perfect for my situation.

[8] I was interested in the possible sound quality difference between this 50' cable and a really short one (3 to 18). I did a test recording in stereo with the left channel using my really short one (Kopul Coiled 3-Pin XLR-M to Angled 3-Pin XLR-F Cable (3 to 18)) and the right channel using this 50' cable coiled on the floor. I kept mics and recorder exactly the same for the experiment and rotated my setup in the room halfway through in case there was one side of the room that was better than another.

By ear I can detect no difference between the two sides in the recording. Both had no discernible hiss when recording a vocalist.

Fantastic!!

[Analog] We use this product to connect our multiple wireless mics to our sound board. Love the way they are labeled and the snake has a good casing on it. This replaces individual cables that were not labeled and cleans up the wire mess.
