[Sony E] Inexpensive, sounds great. Low clutter, USB-C powered. I'm using it with DaVinci Resolve 17 on a MacBook Pro for ADR and monitoring. It's working well!

[Sony E] These are exactly what I need to rug a solar charging system for cell trail cameras.

[0.04 lb] This body cap is one of the best. It's light weight and is not distracting. Does a great job protecting the sensor on my Sony E mount cameras.

[0.04 lb] I think Sony really hit the nail on the head with this accessory. It allows you not only to add PMW300 style chest/shoulder support to your small handheld camera, but it also gives you the ability to slide lock the whole contraption onto a standard V wedge (VCT14) style tripod plate! It is made of hard plastic and tin, but would not break before your actual camera did, very light weight to boot. I run a full size shoulder camera, as well as a handheld,a nd the ability to hot swap one or the other onto the same VCT14 tripod plate is very useful. One thing not mentioned on the product specs is an additional tripod attachment on the bottom of the unit. It is a removable metal block with some 1/4-20 threaded holes (maybe one is 3/8?) so you can add a non VCT14 tripod plate to the bottom. This block is removable with 4 small screws, and must be removed before the unit can be used on a VCT14 plate. I bought mine used from B&H, but I would pay full price for one if necessary.

[Sony E] The packaging is beautiful; the paper documentation is nonexistent. The online documentation is extremely thorough. If you are a beginner or even if you don't know the differences between balanced and unbalanced cables, the online material is awesome. Super simple and to the point while explaining everything you could ever want to know about the unit and some basic sound engineering principles.


Build: It has a rugged construction and feel to it in part because its aluminum. The knobs are plastic but passable. The volume pots are smooth. The rear IO is perfect in terms of the ports available and can be powered by the USB C port.


Sound: It sounds great. Fairly quiet preamps with a lot of gain makes for an awesome combo for the price. I'll probably never use the Vintage button. The front IO accepts Line level signals only through the TRS part of the jack and automatically switches to it.


Complaints: IT DOES NOT SHIP with a USB C to USB C cable :(
Only a USB A to USB C. With most computers now having USB C, this is frustrating. It does also come with a USB A to 5v barrel connector to power it as well.


Conclusion: I love the build quality, sound it produces, and simplistic design. I don't like that it does not come with a modern USB C cable.

[Carbon Fiber] You will always know where your camera body is! Just place an AirTag inside this cap. Caution: you have to push a button on camera to remove the cap, as you do for lenses.

[0.04 lb] So far so good. Amazing grip and comfort! Just inserting and taking out battery #1 is a little annoying but who cares, I can break this and buy 3 more and still be better off than paying for the Sony version.

Love the Vintage sound feature it has.

[0.04 lb] I haven't seen the Sony grip in person but for the price this Vello grip seems great so far. I've had no issues. It's not a perfect match to the A7RII but it's very close, 95% there and decent build quality.

[Carbon Fiber] Great camera in a such small package. I've the functions built around making this camera more practical for casual shooters. Big fully articulated screen(same size and dimension as my Sony a7iii, I just put on the same screen protectors on both cameras) makes vlogging and photoshoots so much easier. The photos and videos came out sharp with beautiful colors. The battery life could be better but batteries are not that expensive so I got a few more, they are small and easy to carry around. I wish it comes with 10 bit color but I'm not complaining for its compact size and ease of use.
