The 6.6 x 6.6" Tiffen Night Fog Filter 6.6x6.6 Grade 1/2yields a natural fog effect with overall atmospheric softening and wide flare, coupled with unique contrast reduction technology that reduces highlights without darkening shadows. This filter has an effect grade of 1/2. This filter has been manufactured using the Colorcore Technology process that laminates the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass, then grinds and polishes them to a precise tolerance of 1/10,000" flatness. Made in the USA, the filter has a 10-year Warranty.

A: The whole thing is plastic and very light. The only metal parts are the screws for the mounts and the cold shoe insert.

Q: 3. I just wondered about using it with DSLR's, if it is compatible w/ a Canon7D or if this particular one may be better suited for camcorders?

A: I used it with my Canon 50D. It's a good fit just don't forget to factor in the weight of your DSLR lens or/and a mic. It can get heavy.

Q: 4. Would this work for a Panasonic gx7?

A: Yes it should if the camera has a normal tripod mount on the bottom.

Q: 5. Is Tiffen B pouch the same pouch that comes with the Tiffen 77mm variable ND filter?

A: Yes, the B Pouch comes with the Tiffen VND

Q: 6. Can you get just one large set like 77mm and expect to be able to use them with step up rings, like you can with ND filters?

A: Yes you can. I just tested it using 3 step up rings. You have to focus manually.

Q: 7. will an 82mm filter fit in this case?

A: The Tiffen A Pouch (Black) is a heavily padded, water-resistant nylon pouch designed to hold a 86mm, Series 9 and 3x3 filters. This is a replacement for the pouch originally supplied with the filters.

Q: 8. Is this big enough to put a Nikon D7100 in it?

A: Yes, it will because my Canon 70D fit perfectly in it. The Nikon D7100 and the Canon 70D have very similar dimensions. Now, once it is trapped in, that is pretty much all that you can have in it, hence, why there is another connector on top for lighting or a mic. It was a great buy for me and enabled me some good stabilization then I took my footage into After Effects for more stabilization and the result was great. Stabilization software work great if the camera was already strapped into a stabilizer and the camera holder knows how to properly move with the stabilizer. It was a great buy and definitely recommend it for anyone.

A: This pouch will hold one 5x5 filter.

[0.875 lb] A fellow bugshutter happens to live in an area with a lot of morning fog and cranks out great landscapes thereupon. I've tried everything short of axle grease on a clear filter to get the same effect, as it's not often foggy in Western, PA and there are tons of landscapes that would look great with it. Researching effects filters, I cam upon this baby and it seems to do the job pretty well--particularly with images and subjects under infinity. It won't completely replicate a foggy day, but if you don't want to pay for fog-effect plug-ins for you image management software, it's a great way to go. Doubles as portrait diffuser as well. Worth a look for the digital camera user. And it's a Tiffen--my own go-to for 40 years. 5

[Glass] I purchased this Double Fog 3 filter for astrophotography using a wide and fast lens. I have not used the filter yet, other than to screw it on the camera lens, but have read many reviews on astrophotography sites that recommend this exactly filter to accentuate the brighter stars in the sky for a more interesting photo. B&H shipped this piece quickly and with great packaging care. I inspected the filter and it appears perfect. 5

[Glass] I'll be using this filter in a feature film we'll be shooting in about a month. It does exactly what Tiffen said it would do in their description. In our test shots it created a very nice fog effect. If you where to be shooting with any type of breeze you would have problems using a traditional fog machine. However with the fog filter you don't have to worry about the fog being blown away. Great effect. 5
